Jumping when there's a shot? Your volume must not be high enough if you aren't jumping anytime your gear rustles when you look over a tiny bit

I've wondered sometimes if I'd be better off not wearing headsets. I'd die more often, but I'd also spend a lot less time jumping at innocent noises.

It’s funny, because I don’t jump at horror games or jumpscares. Yet only gunshots in this game scares me to death.

That's why I use an audio compressor. The goal is less to equalize the audio, but just to cut out some of the peaks. I don't use an aggressive compressor like you would for for a microphone, just a little bit.

Ever since I went from using onboard audio to the GoXLR, the range of volume drastically increased (as well as quality). As a result, I needed to use a compressor if I didn't want my ears to ring.

Keyboard warriors will tell you that peaks of gunshots is fine. Yeah, maybe IRL if you only shoot a few shots. But I don't think it applies to fully automatic fire for hours on end.

Your mouse sensitivity is way too high

I had to turn my volume down too. The thought of getting shot at was giving me anxiety in the same way playing a scary horror game does.. if not worse!

Don't even worry, I'm exactly the same. Even worse, maybe. I've panic popped a shot when shots go off that aren't even at me. So much for stealth.

Download and use SoundLock - you can limit the upper range of sounds in Tarkov (or just on your system in general) so that gunshots & explosions won't blow your hearing but footsteps are just as bad as ever.
