The word "normal" is now cancelled.

Yet another company that went woke.

ID: gqr0ju6

Went woke, they using woke to cover what horrible company that are that faces lawsuits and scandals across the globe. All of these corporations use this kind of politics to cover up slave labor, or chemical spills, pollution and so on. This one alone uses child labor and forced labor, price fixing and other horrible practices.

The problem is I’m pretty sure my hair is normal, like it’s not super greasy but also I don’t feel like I need to use loads of conditioner to get it feeling lustrous after a steaming hot soapy shower. So who are they to say whether I’m normal or not when I don’t even know myself? If I had loads of experience of washing other peoples hair like a barber or hairdresser I could probably have a go but how much of a sample size is enough, and what empirical measure of greasyness or driness (dryness) denotes normal. That’s why I’m fed up with big pharmas always dictatong that my hair is dry or greasy, how can they know? Stick with “normal” as a baseline and then let the individual decide where their hair falls on the gradient before giving us all a label. I think my hair is normal and I resent not having the right to choose a hair “shampoo” that suits me just because the “wokerati” say that normal shampoo is offensive or whatever. Fuck them, they’ll get no more of my money I’m just using swarfega from now on.

In fairness, "shampoo for normal hair" isn't really describing the type of hair it's for, so changing the term can be completely reasonable.

It's just marketing BS to tie this into social justice issues and that's still worthy of mockery of course.

ID: gqrlexp

Yea, I don't know what constitutes my hair as "normal". I have the worst time getting skin care stuff because I don't know if I'm oily or normal.

ID: gqrpi9m

I have difficult hair, so I don’t buy “normal” shampoo/conditioner. But it’s basically the same as “original recipe.” No frills, nothing for frizz or oiliness or whatever. I think using “normal” is a fairly handy identifier. Otherwise, you’re left trying to figure out which combination of meaningless words means “plain old shampoo.”

Helps when you need to know if certain shampoos are best for you.

ID: gqrvc3c

but my hair is normal, so how the fuck do I know what kind of thing I need? It's not oily or dry and I'm not trying to make it straight or wavy or curly.

It's just hair, and I just want some fucking shampoo for it so I can go about my day.

The new normal is not normal.

ID: gqr8uih

If Covid has taught us anything it is that normal hair is anything but normal when you haven’t seen a barber in several months! Maybe they should label their “shampoo” as being good for “new normal” rather than normal. Although my hair is genuinely more lustrous since all of this has been going on so maybe they have a point.

You can't have woke without indirect racism.

How the heck is "normal" not inclusive?? It doesn't specifically mention ethnic minorities, handicapped people and the mentally ill? Jeez. People need to get their heads out of their asses.

Think about it this way: people who think the word "normal" doesn't cover ethnic minorities clearly think that minorities are not "normal". Because logic.

I fail to see why "normal hair" isn't inclusive, it doesn't even indicate that normal is a certain hair type (As in wavy/straight/curly...). It's just an easier way to say "hair that is neither greasy or dry and doesn't need much treatment".

7 : アノニマス2021/03/13 04:27 ID: gqrp9g3

It was when they made up the word "cisgender" to avoid using the word "normal"

I hate this world so much

I do not want to turn on my television and see normal people. I want to see what I can become. Anyone who is afraid to pursue an ideal figure is afraid to see the potential within themselves.

11 : アノニマス2021/03/13 04:43 ID: gqrqn8p

I just remember Adam Curtis' documentary on advertising that discussed the word 'normal' being used to push happy pills to moms in the 80's. I then follow that to Thomas Szasz and I learned to avoid that word as much as possible.

12 : アノニマス2021/03/13 05:42 ID: gqrvi3j

Implying by default that it is now trying to appeal to those they consider abnormal, lol.

13 : アノニマス2021/03/13 04:42 ID: gqrqj6p

Of all things to point at as woke gone awry, this really isn't it. This is just good marketing they're parading around as social justice.

"Normal" is a terrible descriptor for any cosmetic product. Banning excessive photo editing I also think is good.

14 : アノニマス2021/03/13 03:52 ID: gqrlx5i

This is just a company that had shitty marketing. They are probably slumping and looking for a way to not only change their branding but grab some media attention while doing it.

If anyone is offended by this tactic and thinks they need to protect "normal" hair from wokes, go outside. You have had enough culture war for a while.

This doesn’t bother me like other shit does. It actually makes more sense than most of the nonsense

Don’t you dipshits love the invisible hand of the free market? This is the hand guys, deal with it, bunch of babies.

I would explain to you all the ways we don't have a free market, rather we have corpo-bureaucratic oligarchy, but I've never met a communist with higher than a double digit IQ so I'd have more luck teaching my dog how to do my taxes.

sure, but define "normal" hair, pro tip you cant

ID: gqrtro7

Healthy hair, not too dry or too oily.

18 : アノニマス2021/03/13 04:32 ID: gqrpnrl

This is silly and stupid, but it is ultimately no more than marketing.

However, IMO the word "normal" should feel derogatory.
