I am looking to upgrade my 1600AF as I feel it’s a bit of a bottleneck now for my 2060 super at 1440p. I wanna get a second monitor to watch YouTube/streams while I play. Is it worth the upgrade especially if they 5800x is 360$?

Absolutely. Performances will be night and day.
Keep in mind. This was with an 8 core 1800x. You had a 6 core 1600. So the performance increase will be even bigger. You have to make sure you're atleast running on a b450 motherboard tho. Because ryzen 5xxx runs only on b450,b550 and x570 chipsets (and after a bios update).

Depends on what you will be doing with it.
If you just game with your pc yes. If you do heavy load rendering and what not might be worth upgrade your cooling solution (an arctic freezer esport duo would be plenty enough, and that goes for like 35/40 e
).But for general pc use, yeah, it should be enough.
Definitely worth the upgrade it do it you would regret it, or alternatively wait for AM5 platform and then upgrade, prices might be better then

$360 is a great deal & significantly more future proof.

Bro trust I went from 2600 to 5800x and couldn’t believe how much faster it is. It’s actually insane.
I really doubt a 2600 (1600AF) would bottleneck a 2060S at 1440p on triple A games with high settings, but I could be wrong. Still, at this point i would wait for am5 or the 3d cache refresh if there' is one, not that the 5800x is bad, but this gen was a little pricey and now that Intel has some sort of competition ( or soon atleast) prices can drop. Edit: 5800x or even 5600x would be night and day at 1080p competitive settings or with a faster GPU even at 1440p but i just don't believe that the 2060S manages to be that fast at 1440p to get limited by a 2600 (better if overclocked to 4.0 or close to it) considering that a 3600 is around 20% faster and could easily max out a 2080 at 1440p. Also, saw a few videos, from hardware unboxed and more and they showed what i said, with a 2080Ti there was a difference of around 15%, you don't have a 2080Ti so..
Yea I understand. Mostly was thinking about it for the new battlefield and Halo as those are the two games I will be playing for the foreseeable future. I played both betas and felt my frame timings and over all computer responsiveness with those games open plus discord and/or Spotify open at the same time was pretty bad. I also getting a second monitor in a couple of weeks to watch some YouTube and/or twitch streams while I play. That’s more of my concern than getting high frame rates especially on a 2060super at 1440p.
I have a RTX2060 non-super paired with an 2600x. Sometimes it's a huge bottleneck and not just when playing competitive games. In some cases DLSS doesn't even improve FPS, it just lowers GPU usage. Cyberpunk 2077 is especially painful, with or without DLSS enabled, it goes between 35-70FPS, GPU usage often dropping to 60s. I believe this is mostly to do with Nvidia DX12 overhead but it is what it is.
You'll see no difference in gaming performance when jumping from a 1600AF to a 5800X, if all you have is an RTX 2060 Super:
Your GPU is about as fast as the RX 5600 XT, and slower than the 5700 XT. Both have the same FPS whether you're running a 1600X, 2600X, 3600X or 5600X - at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K.
The reason for the above is, even with a 1600 AF, you're GPU-limited at 1440p unless you have something like an RTX 3080 or 6800 XT. The RTX 3070, which is almost twice as fast as the 2060 Super, sees an increase from 87 (1600 AF) to 94 (5600X). That's 7fps, or about 8%. To see a noticeable increase you'd need a top of the line GPU.
tl;dr: your 2060 Super is the bottleneck, not your 1600 AF. Put that $360 into your GPU fund, if you care about gaming performance.

I’ve seen reports of the cpu running pretty hot. I have an ID-Cooling SE-224 xt air cooler. Will that be enough? And I have a b450m motherboard from gigabyte. Thanks for the reply!
