ID: hm42idlYup, got mines tonight and the total was $860 after tax. Included Ratchet and Clank, Ghost of Tsushima, and Miles Morales, 1 year of PS+ and a $100 gift card.
The only things in there of value to me are the console ($500), GoT ($50), PS+ ($50), and the gift card ($100). So it's basically like paying a $160 premium to get it (plus 3 hours of standing in the cold). Sucks but it is what it is. Wish it were like the PS4 days when I could just get one for under retail while sitting in the comfort of my bed.

ID: hm2r7phIf they were selling standalone consoles I might actually get in the line and bear it. But GameStop only sells them in nearly $800 bundles with games that I don’t want. And then the other retailers will only sell you a PS5 now if you are a member of their $100/year membership club, like Walmart+ or BestBuy Total Tech. So whether you pay extra to a scalper, for a “membership”, or for a bundle of games you don’t want, you are going to get fucked one way or another. It’s so disheartening. I’ve just given up.

ID: hm3ttjbI know it wasn't probably the intention (although it might have been part of the reason), but I see this as an anti scalper tactic. Yes, they sell a bunch of shit with it that someone may not want or need, but the profit margins for scalpers diminish with the higher priced bundles. And I've heard that GS will exchange the games for ones you do want.

ID: hm2n5d8If you're in the US, I signed up for the playstation direct emails to get invited to buy a ps5 and I got invited after only a few drops and I got one on my first drop. I'm not sure if that was lucky or normal but as long as you're not "I need this right now" sign up and wait for the email.

According to a friend who is a manager at gamestop, they will indeed only be sold in bundles.
