Would I Enjoy RE3R If I Never Played The Original RE3?

1 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:17 ID: s3htxf

A lot of the complaints towards RE3R that I’ve heard have been regarding how it compares to the original, but I’ve never played the original.

I’m absolutely loving RE2R. Would RE3R pretty much be an identical experience?

2 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:24 ID: hskxa3m

I have never played the original RE3 and I have to say I have been enjoying the RE3 remake.

ID: hskxgdm

Nicee. Yeah I’m absolutely in love with RE2R’s combat mechanics, so I assume I will enjoy RE3R equally..especially because Nemesis is kinda part of my childhood

ID: hskxqjx

I never played the original RE2 either but loved the RE2 remake, I was late to playing the Resident Evil games. The first game of Resident Evil I played was Resident Evil 4 and absolutely loved it. Resident Evil 7 was right behind that in terms of enjoyment. I played the original Resident Evil game but very clunky controls. Currently, I am playing RE 0 and RE 3. I been bouncing around a little on the games

Re3r is a bit of a step back from RE2R. You can't really leg zombies anymore, it's a lot less strategic. Mrx Is closer to the original nemesis than re3r nemesis is. There's like 0 puzzles in the whole game.

It is a pretty awesome game though. There's a lot of cool moments and the first playthrough is really fun. The environments are top notch. It's more action than re2r and less horror but it does have its moments.

I'd rate re2r 10/10. It's perfect. Re3r id rate 8/10.

The combat mechanics in 3R are a lot better than 2R. It's the game's biggest strength.

The damage physics on enemies was fantastic in 2Remake. It felt...odd shooting zombies in 3r. Definite downgrade.

ID: hslq99k

Capcom had to tone down the gore/enemy physics for 3 due to the heavy censorship 2make got in Japan plus to allow more enemies to be on screen at once. I understand why they changed it for 3make, but it’s still sucks to see the downgrade happen.

4 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:24 ID: hskx8zn

Not identical, but similar. Considering you never played the original, Im sure you'll enjoy it exponentially more than most others. Especially if you love 2. It's kinda short though. It has an added evade, which is a nice mechanic.

ID: hskxbj1

Ah, good to hear. Thanks!

ID: hslykf9

It’s literally almost the same amount of time to beat the original. People bash the remake but it’s actually really good. Just the potential with nemesis wasnt as great as it could of been

5 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:24 ID: hskxayr

The main objection to RE3R is it was a bit shorter than fans expected. Still an excellent game and if you enjoy RE2R, you’ll love it.

ID: hskxuk3

Ah, I see. What I’ll probably do in this case is play RE3R, and then play REmake. It’ll be a good way to feed my thirst for the RE experience, since the shortness of RE3R will probably not fully quench it

ID: hsky388

REmake is old school style Resident Evil. So be aware. That’s a turn off for some folks who only entered the series at 4 and beyond.

ID: hsnwaqg

Remake is absolutely top notch but just know it's extremely different gameplay. Play it on easy and expect it to still be difficult.

The gameplay will feel dated but it enables so much and it's worth touching it out. It really is.

ID: hsmf44k

For those who loved the original, the length is a distant second in disappointment compared to how far it strays from the original. If they'd padded the length another few hours with unfaithful content, it would still be very disappointing as a remake.

ID: hskyeae

It is admittedly short but that's honestly the only really bad thing I can say for the game

6 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:26 ID: hskxktn

RE3R has added mechanics RE2R didnt have.

Ive played and loved the original but once I pulled my head out of my ass I enjoyed RE3R as well. So anyone should be able to enjoy it.

ID: hskxwtj

Oh damnn. I’m even more excited for it now

7 : Anonymous2022/01/14 05:06 ID: hsl9v71

I never played the original RE3 but when I played the RE3R I felt like it's was kinda boring as well as short and it doesn't have much replayability like all of the other ones Ive played well except for 7. But I also love RE2R and I've only been a resident evil fan for like a year a couple months i think but I've only played the Resident evil remakes of 1-3 and 4, 7,8 and I think a little bit of 5 like the beginning only to when you get attacked by a shit ton of zombies and I just got irritated and never played it again. Mb you probably didn't care about all of that shit

8 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:32 ID: hskybu3

i’ve never played the original, and i had a fun time with re3make. i think expectations were just a little high

9 : Anonymous2022/01/14 04:54 ID: hsl8f2y

Yes especially if you enjoyed 2R.

I personally dislike it because the original is my favorite game. But if you arent beholden to the originals and you like 2R, its more 2R and thats not a bad thing.

10 : Anonymous2022/01/14 07:45 ID: hslpbqk

Conversely, I would say you probably wouldn't like it as much if you had played the original, so go for it.

11 : Anonymous2022/01/14 07:50 ID: hslps7a

It would not be an identical experience, insofar that it doesn't do the expanding puzzlebox thing with that RE2 does with the RPD. It's much more of a straight line, so if that's among your favorite elements, you'll have to deal with that.

Otherwise, the story and character elements are arguably stronger, but individual millage on that will vary.

It does have multiple difficulty settings and shuffles items around past hardcore, if that's your thing.

ID: hslrej5

I don’t mind linear experiences. I enjoy backtracking and getting the opportunity to embrace a map to its fullest, but I also do like games that keep the sights fresh.

I think I will definitely enjoy this game! Thanks!

12 : Anonymous2022/01/14 11:32 ID: hsm7c5r

There is a chance you will enjoy it, for me that was not the case because i played the original and the comparisons were inevitable.

13 : Anonymous2022/01/14 14:48 ID: hsmu1gs

You’ll probably enjoy it more because you won’t know of the cut content or if the game is short compared to the original

14 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:47 ID: hsl07ur

You will enjoy it even more if you haven’t played the original since you won’t remember what was cut out of it

15 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:48 ID: hsl0dzv

Coming from someone who didn’t get into the series until REmake on Gamecube and never played the original RE3, playing RE3make felt sorta like a mix between Separate Ways/Assignment Ada from RE4 with it weaving between (and before) events of RE2make. Ended up enjoying it thoroughly 😀

ID: hsl0iou

Ooh. I’m currently playing through RE4 on the Oculus rn, so perhaps I’ll get a better idea of what to expect in RE3R once I get to those points you mentioned.

16 : Anonymous2022/01/14 16:35 ID: hsna8lo

You might actually like it better since you you wont realize how badly they butchered the original.

17 : Anonymous2022/01/14 17:26 ID: hsnic2p

Yes, it’s not a bad game. It’s just a terrible remake.

18 : Anonymous2022/01/14 18:02 ID: hsnnzux

I don’t think enjoying the remake is dependent on playing the original. If you liked RE2 remake, the third remake isn’t an identical experience. 3 remake is more action focused and you have scripted action set pieces.

I liked the game but it wasn’t what I wanted the game since I too wanted something that was similar to RE2 remake.

19 : Anonymous2022/01/14 18:04 ID: hsnodcc

Some fans might dare to make the argument that you will only enjoy RE3R because you haven't played the original.

20 : Anonymous2022/01/14 18:18 ID: hsnqibd

Y E S

21 : Anonymous2022/01/14 18:53 ID: hsnvx9j

Honestly, you'll probably like it more. A lot of the complaints about it revolve around how it compares to the original—not that there aren't other issues.

That said, RE3R is mostly considered inferior to RE2R. Mechanically, it is mostly the same with slightly faster action and the dodge. Its biggest issue is being far more linear and having significantly less content.

It's still worth playing.

22 : Anonymous2022/01/14 07:42 ID: hslp1xx

My friend liked RE3 Remake who didn't finish original but he also criticed the game so much after he finished Re2 Remake twice..

ID: hslrjwf

Lmao. Yeah I hear a ton of praise for RE2R, so I’m not surprised there are some more-noticeable flaws in RE3R after playing pretty much the masterpiece that is RE2R

23 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:26 ID: hskxldd

I never played the original RE3 and I enjoyed the remake. Your first play through may only be about about 4-6 hours and, but it does have NG+.

ID: hsky6sb

Ah. May I ask what NG+ is?

ID: hskyyxr

Sorry it’s New Game Plus meaning all the weapons/items you just beat the game with, carries over to a new run of the game. Keys and puzzle items don’t carry over though.

24 : Anonymous2022/01/14 07:15 ID: hslmpyc

It's fun. Short but fun. It's more akin to RE4 in that you will have plenty of ammo to kill everything and there's a lot of action....very little horror.

It will take 4-6hrs on your first run.

ID: hslrq3u

Ah. I totally don’t mind a 4-6 hour game, but I do mind it when I’m spending $60 on it.

But once the game’s on sale, I won’t hesitate to cop it!

ID: hsme60f

It's a short game but it took me 12 hours the first time with lots of exploring and redoing sections/bosses. 2R took me 13 for reference. Most people seem to get through 3R in 6-8 hours their first time. One of the reasons it's a shorter game is that there is almost no backtracking and almost no puzzles. The map in 3R is actually bigger than the map in 2R, but the latter has lots of backtracking and puzzles that inflate the playtime.

25 : Anonymous2022/01/14 04:42 ID: hsl71te

Yes. It’s a great game and gets unnecessary hate

26 : Anonymous2022/01/14 04:39 ID: hsl6o32

Pretty much the only way you could enjoy it.

ID: hslh8ad

Man I was so disappointed on launch day not seeing the grave digger, the park, an explorable clock tower and the factory. I enjoyed it as a reimagining of the original, but the lack of detail (brought on by limitations) and the missing components from the original definitely hindered my experience.

27 : Anonymous2022/01/14 03:40 ID: hskzci8

The remake is much better. Great game.

28 : Anonymous2022/01/14 05:35 ID: hsld4gx

Definitely. I even enjoyed it, and am someone who grew up with the original games, and despite it not being a faithful remake, it’s basically a reimagining. It’s a fast paced action horror. There is some minimal backtracking in the game, but it’s mostly moving you forward to the next area constantly. Worth playing.

ID: hsld9an

Nice. I honestly wouldn’t have minded backtracking either way, but since I have no clue what happens in the original, I’m not in store for any sort of disappointment. If anything, if I like this so much, I’ll even end up copping the original to catch the missing content!

Would you enjoy being with someone that's a mediocre match for you after letting true love pass you by?
