Red Dead Redemption 2, my Game of The Year.
2 : Anonymous2021/11/27 14:49 ID: hma1ewv

Rdr2 came out in 2018 …

ID: hmagapm

I meant, the best game I've played this year.

3 : Anonymous2021/11/27 13:30 ID: hm9ssyk

It's an amazing game.

ID: hm9tlct

It is.

4 : Anonymous2021/11/27 13:26 ID: hm9sgwe

Not only a triumph of video gaming, but a triumph of western media in general

ID: hm9z3ye

Not really a big fan of westerns before but then I watched Buster Scruggs and played RDR2 on the same week and have been addicted to the genre ever since. Now I just finished the Dollars trilogy and otw to watch power of the dog tomorrow lol

ID: hma0bqv

I'd recommend The Outlaw Josey Wales while you're still on the Eastwood films

ID: hmaq7c1

I recommend 3:10 to Yuma remake with russel Crowe and Christian bale. Also, if you haven’t seen the True Grit remake it was also done by the Coen brothers who did Buster Scruggs. Then there is of course Django Unchained.

PAN SHOT!!

I have been playing this again and I’m just blown away at how they did the lighting and draw distances. Those aspects of the visuals blow everything else out of the water. There is no other game I’ve played that has a natural world that feels so immersive and artistic.

I can’t help but think with a few stylistic and narrative changes, and gameplay loop alterations, the game could be even more mind blowing. Even as it is though it’s still a contender for best game of the generation.

ID: hmagk78

I agree, I'm looking at the entire country from a cliff and wondering hows my PS4 not crashing, the draw distance and optimization is truly incredible.

6 : Anonymous2021/11/27 14:43 ID: hma0n03

The game of all years

ID: hmakcgd

Not everyone agrees but It's literally the best game I've ever played.

ID: hmbfhic

For me the game always fell flat mechanically. It’s a beautiful world, amazing characters, heartbreaking story, with extremely straight forward and uninteresting gameplay. It’s still in my top 10 games of last generation, probably top 5 but I have a hard time sayings it’s better than some other titles on the PS4/XBONE.

7 : Anonymous2021/11/27 13:09 ID: hm9qs4u

That game is seriously a masterpiece

ID: hm9qymu

It really is. I'm just exploring and there's so much to do, I'm still in Chapter 2 haha.

ID: hm9r575

Honestly, that’s the way to play. I’ve finished the game like 3 times and if I go back to play I only progress so far and then just free roam 100% of the time lol

ID: hmavbb4

The amount of hours I've spent hunting perfect rattlesnakes, muskrats, squirrels, and frogs is staggering... and I love every second of it 😀

8 : Anonymous2021/11/27 15:07 ID: hma3kgm

Of which year?

ID: hmagdrx

This year, for me.

9 : Anonymous2021/11/27 14:02 ID: hm9w656

Best game I've ever playedn most likely. It's a toss up between this and GoW, though RDR2 gets extra points because it's the only game that made me cry.

After playing RDR2 all other open world games just feel hollow and pointless.

ID: hm9w9ps

I agree, I've never played GoW, I intend to, someday. Wanna see how good it is since it was able to win GOTY over RDR2.

ID: hm9wjgk

Yea red dead single player is the best open world experience to be had so far. Someone tried to tell me the open world of Witcher 3 was comparable. lol. Comparable to WoW maybe.

Sucks that some people skipped straight to multiplayer. It’s still good but it’s not on the level of single player.

ID: hm9yk2u

TW3 is still incredible and laid the groundwork for what an open world should be. But it still feels like a video game world where RDR2 feels like I'm taking part in a real Western world.

10 : Anonymous2021/11/27 13:37 ID: hm9tixq

Need a ps5 patch for 60fps, 30 fps is criminal to play rdr2 in.

ID: hm9to9y

It sure needs a next gen patch, but imo it's pretty enjoyable on current gen in 30 frames too. I can only imagine how godly it would look in 60, since I don't have a PS5.

ID: hm9vaoq

Just a simple fps unlock will do me. It already looks gorgeous.

ID: hm9w2n1

30 fps is criminal to play any game, except some very slow ones like flight simulators or some RTS likes Cities Skylines.

ID: hmab3td

Works fine for me

11 : Anonymous2021/11/27 17:20 ID: hmal4wj

Same.

12 : Anonymous2021/11/27 19:10 ID: hmb0vom

I would call it best of the decade and certainly if not top 10 of all time then top 20.

13 : Anonymous2021/11/27 19:20 ID: hmb2dyh

Absolute masterpiece.

14 : Anonymous2021/11/27 20:35 ID: hmbdd12

This game blew me away. I've never experienced an open world that seemed as real as this one did.

15 : Anonymous2021/11/27 21:08 ID: hmbi181

It’s a masterpiece. But recently I tried a second playthrough and I got bored very fast. I think it’s because I already discovered all the secrets and things go exactly like the first playthrough.

ID: hmbiczz

I'm on my second playthrough too, but this time im taking time between doing story missions and exploring all I can. Ive discovered stuff I never had known about before, so I'm not bored.

ID: hmbjfvt

I think I explored too much during my first round. Found all dreamcatchers, rock carvings, secret weapons, legendary animals, strangers, etc. So I kind of spoiled it for a second round. Have fun on your second playthrough! It’s still a great game!

16 : Anonymous2021/11/27 13:35 ID: hm9tdlc

My game started randomly crashing after chapter 3 with the moonshine missions. Anyone had this before?

ID: hm9tkey

Never had any game breaking or crashing issues ever, I'm on the PS4 so, if you're on PC, I guess look up the problem.

17 : Anonymous2021/11/27 16:06 ID: hmab6la

I basically switch back and forth from replaying this and gtav

Sure I do some other games, but this one is just so reliable

18 : Anonymous2021/11/27 18:06 ID: hmartkw

I just finished it like 2 days ago, game is a masterpiece

19 : Anonymous2021/11/27 18:11 ID: hmaskvh

Do I need to play the first one to play this one?

I've been wanting to start but I might hold off on a remaster

ID: hmatuc3

RDR2 is set before RDR1, so you can play them either way! But RDR2 first and then RDR1 is a great experience.

ID: hmawzrk

RDR2 is a prequel to the first one.

20 : Anonymous2021/11/27 15:59 ID: hmaa7yo

So I literally just started this two days ago after getting tired of waiting for a 60fps patch. I’m not far in. At the train heist story mission.

I like the story but it just… it feels like too much effort because of the realism. I know I’m probably going to be downvoted, but it feels like work so far. Or it’s going to be work. How hard is it going to be to stay fed and keep my horse fed?

It seems like a lot of systems to manage and track. I’m coming off of finally finishing the last dlc for spider man 2018 and wanted something different before going into miles moralis.

I played red dead redemption 1 and remember really liking it but I don’t recall if it was this focused on realism. I dunno.

I’m going to keep going of course.

ID: hmb1fr4

How hard is it going to be to stay fed and keep my horse fed

It's a mini game for both you and your horse to maintain if you want to play it to that level, but if not it really isn't that impactful. I wouldnt feel bothered to keep you or your horse at tip top shape unless you want to really settle into the western vibe, because it slows things down (brushing, cooking food, etc...) If you just eat the stuff you find for health you'll be fine and if you ever take your horse to the stables you'll hear the guy say "remember to feed this horse" that's about it.

21 : Anonymous2021/11/27 15:31 ID: hma6l62

Super Mario Bros 2 game of the year!

22 : Anonymous2021/11/27 16:57 ID: hmahyat

lmfao the circle jerk for this game is worse than the shitter 3 wild turd.

ID: hmb0u78

Have you played either?

23 : Anonymous2021/11/27 13:43 ID: hm9u4bc

I think it’s a bit too long but it’s still good

ID: hm9v9eg

I like long games, more like the stuff that make the game long. Like the amazing story, the gameplay mechanics, the way you have to hunt and craft and upgrade stuff.

25 : Anonymous2021/11/27 18:51 ID: hmay5xy

In my head-canon, Arthur Morgan is a Witcher.

Silver bullets for monsters, steel bullets for men.

26 : Anonymous2021/11/27 20:15 ID: hmbabhq

It still annoys me a little that God of War got game of the year instead of this masterpiece, yeah I love God of War and I’m hyped for Ragnarok but you gotta admit you were expecting RDR2 to get it

27 : Anonymous2021/11/27 20:39 ID: hmbdx32

My GOTY is Super Mario Bros 2

28 : Anonymous2021/11/27 21:19 ID: hmbjgxg

Would be even better if Rockstar actually gave a damn about Red Dead Online

29 : Anonymous2021/11/27 21:39 ID: hmbm92o

Game of the century for me

30 : Anonymous2021/11/27 21:40 ID: hmbmd9w

Game of the generation

31 : Anonymous2021/11/27 21:41 ID: hmbmgi3

Motherfuckers be dissing Rockstar just because of their failed gta definitive edition attempt and ignoring years of their historic game records, which literally were only legendary games.

32 : Anonymous2021/11/27 21:56 ID: hmbokkq

I'm playing this for the first time. I got through the prologue in the snow, and then when onto the main missions I almost immediately lost my hat fighting on the roof of a train. I have never been more attached to, or determined to replace an item of clothing in any game ever.

33 : Anonymous2021/11/27 23:22 ID: hmc02bi

Let's just keep RDR2 GOTY until other game companies get thier shit together.

34 : Anonymous2021/11/27 23:33 ID: hmc1hxp

Rockstar included?

35 : Anonymous2021/11/27 23:34 ID: hmc1q46

Ehhh maybe I'll leave that up to you.
