The oddest choice of games for FSR.

3 : Anonymous2021/09/01 16:34 ID: hb7edrm

The ultra quality setting is the only reason I'd ever use FSR to get over a 50-60 gap.

Wow, this is sick. Being able to play about 60 fps in 1440p with a 1060 6gb in 2021 (balanced settings) is pretty sick. Same for RX590. Grats AMD.

It's nice, but don't delude that you're getting 1440p from it. It's just a passable spacial upscale of...what, 800ish-p?

Can't wait for XeSS to come kick FSR's ass in the open source upscaler arena for old cards.

Though I don't mind Ultra-quality-FSR where applicable, the more intense scaling factors just look like an oil painting.

I don't know how good XeSS is (don't count your chickens before the hatch) but I can agree that I'm excited for another open source upscaling tech to release

Tried it yourself?

intel really ridiculed amd. I really hope that amd is working on a real dlss competitor. fsr is good, but sould only be regarded as a stopgap.

A Gtx 1060 6gb moving games in 2k ultra ... jesus thats amazing

ID: hb7407o

It's not 2K.

ID: hb83toi

1440p but it’s really not worth trying to correct people now a days on this specific bit. For anyone that doesn’t know, 2k resolution would be about 20% more pixels. 1440p is roughly 80% more pixels than 1080p, 2k would be 100%. 4k is actually MORE than twice the amount of pixels of 1440p

It's unclear why looking at pure performance without considering image quality presents any value. I guess academically it's interesting.

Because it seems that people, specially nvidia owners, have this crazy need to only care for high FPS and never mention anything else.

FSR looks markedly inferior in most cases, so that dig at Nvidia owners doesn't make a great deal of sense either.

Regardless, we should be looking at both performance and image quality.

Older graphics cards... where's the HD 4970? The 8800GTX? The Radeon 9700 Pro?

ID: hb6w4d5

Or even the rx 380, 480...hell r9 280x...

ID: hb6zws3

Hell why is my Voodoo 2000 not supported?

ID: hb7cyx0

Exactly! We demand benchmarks!

ID: hb7bdyk

Because nobody likes Glide.

Not officially, but there are posts and comments about people using FSR with DOTA 2 on HD 4000 and HD 5000 series GPUs without issue and getting large performance boosts. Haven't seen anything specific about HD 3000 or GeForce 8000 series GPUs though. Can pretty much guarantee it won't work on GeForce 7000 series and older though, as they do not have unified programmable shaders.

They aren't OFFICIALLY supported, but there's nothing preventing you from throwing the switch.

if only all game dev implements this

9 : Anonymous2021/09/01 16:36 ID: hb7eovu

Apply that same concept on steam deck?

ID: hb8hvjk

It’s a 720p screen, it’s already pretty low res.

ID: hb8mlbj

Thanks Sherlock. I'm talking about 480p upscale to 720p.
