- Who knew Resident Evil had so many forms?

Resident Evil 4 influenced an entire generation of game design, you can see it everywhere
ID: hbtd6h5ID: hbtj05hDead Space, Gears of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Mass Effect, God of War, BioShock and a slew of others. Seriously, the list goes on to the horizon.
ID: hbu38yqIt’s crazy to think that no one had come up with a decent camera for third-person shooters until RE4’s “Over the Shoulder”.

Resident Evil has also been all of those other things except space... yet.

Prototype was such a good game!! A Wesker and Mercer partnership would be sick!!

DOOM feels like 'Resident Evil but you're actually prepared this time.'
ID: hbthfpxIronically, Resident Evil was originally going to be a more horror-focused full 3D FPS game that was a direct adaptation/sequel to Sweet Home. But it was decided to make the game more like Alone in the Dark and feature 3D models over pre-rendered backgrounds because making a fully 3D FPS game for the PSX would have been too difficult to do on the system's hardware.
So in a way, Resident Evil initially started out as "DOOM, but actually scary".

let's fucking go Alex Mercer and Albert Wesker working together to saved their worlds from humanity greed and self destruction

Memes aside Resident evil is that type of franchise that is soo influential that you can feel many game designers takes inspiration from it.

GEARS is sooo underrated!
ID: hbtig3tConsidering that Gears of War is one of the most influential and important shooters of all time, frequently placed alongside DOOM and Quake for shooters that defined the direction of the industry, I'd have to say it's pretty far from underrated. It's star has faded, certainly, but for a time games were being defined by how similar they were to Gears, up to and including entries in the Resident Evil series, and you couldn't swing a bolo grenade without getting a sticky kill on some Microsoft promotion or another proudly displaying Marcus Fenix alongside Master Chief.
ID: hbu3i0wGears is a lot of things, “Underrated” will never be one of them.

Could have listed The Darkness as well tbh
-
The “Die Hard” of video-games.
