Deathloop | PS5 vs PC | Graphics Comparison & Framerate Test

Given the cost difference between a PC running a 3070/3080 and the PS5, I think the PS5 version looks very good, RT mode seems a bit...variable shall we say, but not at all unplayable.

I might be wrong but I'm getting the feeling that Ray Tracing is going to become less and less common on consoles as the generation mover forward. A lot of devs seem to be struggling with it.

Quite the opposite. The more devs become familiar with a system, the more they take advantage of the features available to really push the hardware to its limits. Some of the best games come out towards the middle and end of a generation.

That's hardly a deal breaker for me, I'd usually take the performance increase over what I consider a low impact graphical improvement most of the time.

Because RT on AMD hardware is pretty bad. Consoles are permanently stuck with it.

I think it depends on the Developer but I agree overall.

Like Insomniac has found a way to balance it. & I would imagine Sony’s other top studios will find a way as well.

But the idea that stuff like RT global illumination replacing more traditional methods outright (like what we’ve seen in Metro Exodus) seems to be a pipe dream for console games this gen. If games are running at sub 720p just to make the RT work, that’s a problem.

Ray traced lighting is a bigger difference from what I can tel but I just still don’t care much about when it’s used for reflections. Sure it looks cool when you stop and admire it I guess, but I don’t think the regular reflections look bad to me. It’s not like I’m having time to view them when I’m swinging around in Spider-Man or something.

At least they give us options though. A dynamic 4K at 60 FPS is my preferred mode.

They have to decide between Raytracing and FPS. And most people prefer FPS. Releasing a big title on PS5 without 60 FPS mode would cause a lot of discussions, like lately with Life is Strange - True Colors.

Why I can’t wait to see a Pro version.

I'd wait for Alex from DF's cover on this sooner instead, he said that he has the exact graphics settings of the PS5 version on PC version, therefore a direct comparison with performance between various PC GPUs and PS5 performance might be a possibility..

Now you are talking. Been through dozen of those trailers, and that's the first time I see it's got RT mode - which does differ nicely, even from the quality mode. I hope gone are those early RTX days when you had to look with a magnifying glass to see any difference between what they called "RT" and regular version.

Problem is that Raytracing was implemented too early, they should have waited for the next generation with it. Raytracing need extremely powerful GPUs, like Nividas 3... series. And it takes away a lot of performance. My biggest fear is that Raytracing could prevent 60 FPS to become the new standard in this console generation.

We need PS5 Pro

Oh god my subscriptions are about to be full of "Can I build a $500 PC that can run Deathloop?!?!?!"

The shadow difference at quality and RT can't be that drastic on PS5, right? Because that seems like a bit much. It was literally, as they say, "night and day" with those comparisons. Like literally a day/night cycle was displayed.

Also, Cole literally has no reflection or shadow...

WTH, since when do we need RT just for proper shadows? It seems w/o RT even gun models are not properly shaded when moving from light to shadow. It's worse than even Doom 3!
