- According to Gematsu, the studio that develops the new Silent Hill game is by Kojima Productions
-
Interested to see if this turns out to be true with his other rumors. Doubt del Toro will get back in seeing as he has stated he thinks he’s a curse to video games.
ID: hf233unID: hf2b0q9He was involved with the Hellboy game but his big one was a game called InSane. It was to be published by THQ but they declared bankruptcy. Then of course PT. I think the fact that those two large projects together ending so terribly scared him away.

See, this one is a little different because it's not some anonymous forum poster saying this but gematsu, who from what I've seen, won't post an article like this and stake their name on it unless they do have sources saying this.
As for the possibility... five years is a long time. Kojima was treated awfully in the last year of development for MGSV and Konami didn't expect to spend a such a fortune when greenlighting MGSV and FOX engine. Given SIE is the middle management between these two groups and their past differences, Kojima won't care because he'll be answering to Sony, and Konami won't care because Sony will be footing the bill.
So yeah, I can see it happening. And SIE is exactly the publisher that could make it happen.
EDIT:
As someone pointed out on resetera, Kojima and Konami now follow each other on twitter again. Strange times.
ID: hf1k38xExactly, Sony isn't stupid. They know the buzz and fan-fare that P.T received and they would obviously benefit from allowing P.T to be revived and how much it would elevate the PS5 exclusive line-up. Norman Reedus has also been teasing P.T for MONTHS on his social media accounts, clearly something is going on
ID: hf1rw49Is still have PT on a ps4…..
I’ve never played it.
ID: hf1v25kJust look at the P.T. clones that came out after that game. It literally changed a whole genre of horror games. I can’t imagine how popular it would be if it was done properly
ID: hf2pxu7Exactly, Sony isn't stupid
Yeah, but Konami is, and Sony will need their approval. Plus, Japanese work culture is pretty weird as an outsider, the chances that Konami would let Kojima work on any of their IPs is really-really low.
ID: hf2kindSucks for Xbox owners though

Also it's business. Holding grudges will just serve to hurt the individual, not the company.
ID: hf2q36iThey can be petty, but not hundreds of millions worth petty.

We need the entirety of social media to have this epiphany. Sources attempting to stay anonymous on the internet are extremely suspect. A publication keeping a source anonymous is staking their credibility in place of their source, which means they know their source and believe the statements to be credible. That credibility comes from us being able to see that the publication has something to lose, their own credibility. We transfer the expectations of truth from the anonymous source to the Publication, and hold it accountable. And that’s the way it should work.
The publications to be wary of are the ones that publish anonymous internet rumors as full articles covering the rumor. That’s clickchasing, and that’s where misinformation lives.
ID: hf2w1zfI'm still skeptical on if Silent Hills will ever come back, but imagine the hype if we see that door open to reveal that hallway in a Sony presentation. It would literally break the internet.
ID: hf32ynzIndeed. If Sony is looking to repeat the year of dreams again (E3 2015), then they need revivals of, not necessarily massively successful games (but it helps), but fan favourite games.
That E3 was important because it allowed Sony to show PS4 was the place to be if you want these core games.
After FF7 remake, Shenmue and TLG, I honestly don't think there's anything bigger in terms of fan faves than Silent Hill X Kojima. PT was that big. So, as a publisher, if I want to do E3 2015 again, that's where I would start.
-
Gematsu has also heard that a new Silent Hill is in development at a prominent Japanese developer. That studio is Kojima Productions, according to a publishing source that wishes to remain anonymous, who also said that the game is funded by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
As someone who finally played and finished the PT Demo last night, I am taking all the credit for this happening.
ID: hf2pzfqThank you
ID: hf2masoHow'd you get it to play? I deleted mine for storage only to have it blocked after
ID: hf2pd9sLook up a tutorial on YouTube. As long as you have it in your library and have a PS4, it’s perfectly playable. Whole trick takes like 5 minutes.
ID: hf2mt5nNever deleted it.
-
Imagine if Sony makes Silent Hill exclusive? Wow.
ID: hf3qsjrHope so. MS gets to make all Bethesda games exclusive so why not do. For reference I own both consoles.
ID: hf3uwijYou don't need to own both consoles to have criticism 🙂 We are all arm chair critics.
-
Also, game is funded by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
-
Great, more silent hill rumors. At this point reddit is going to feel wierd after a silent hill game releases and the rumors stop popping up every month.
ID: hf1o5haBloodborne 2????
ID: hf2scg6You meant BloodBorne Kart...
ID: hf1saiiThere's always Half-Life 3. Always.
-
If Sal reports on it, then it's legitimate.
Gematsu don't do baseless and unfounded rumors and doesn't put a stake on fake news. Sal has more credibility than Kotaku, Polygon, and IGN COMBINED.
If he said an anonymous source tipped him about this info, then pack your bags, fellas, we're going to a Kojima-made Silent Hill.
ID: hf2xrpdAbannnnnndonedddddd
ID: hf3nsouEh isn’t he the “Switch will run on Android guy“ He isn’t really a insider.
I really think Silent Hill is real but I think Konami will give it to a more low key studio like Tecmo Koei to keep costs in check.
-
I will wait for millie A to confirm this, she is the new person that I will trust 100% since navtra left.
-
Haven't we known this? I've already heard it a few months ago that kojima was heading the new silent hill. Maybe it was a rumor but still.
-
I hope we all have matured to the point that we don't take rumours as fact and wait until the game to actually be officially announced. This of course goes for every "rumoured" game since believing rumours only makes me people angry or upset when nothing gets announced.
-
This is literally giving me a heart attack. I can't handle this much hope.
-
VGC also said that Konam was working with Bloober Team for a Silent Hill Game alongside other japanese developer.
And the other 'japanese dev' isnt Kojima according to Andy, so there are contradictions to these reports. Believe what you want, i will believe once more reputable information pops up.
ID: hf1xobbThere's been long rumours of 2 Silent Hill games in the works.
ID: hf3nx37Also, the specific rumour that started a few years back said there would be two SH games: one is a AAA release, and the other is a smaller, telltale-style (maybe even episodic) type of game
-
It's a PSVR 2 launch title, I'm calling it now.
-
I really hope so. I have no confidence in blooper team doing it.
-
Dream come true...if true.
-
Gematsu also broke news about FF7 Remake like an hour before E3
ID: hf3o19cTo be fair, the rumor of a FF7 remake was happening every year since the PS3.
-
There is rumors of massive shakeup at konami higher ups. And add the crack down on gambling and pachinko machines from the government it forced konami to change and go back to AAA game development
-
Also, a prominent Japanese developer can only mean a select few. There's not that many notable Japanese studios with a strong horror background or who have leads with such experience. There's the Fatal Frame devs at Tecmo (who aren't really a studio anymore but absorbed into the other studios there). There's Platinum... which, is possible, I guess (former RE staff). And there Kojima Productions (who were deep into Silent Hills). The wildcard being Tango, but that means Xbox managed to pull off the heist of the decade (and this would actually upset people more than the Bethesda buy). But I can't see it being Tango.
-
See guys, its obvious now that Abandoned/Bluebox/Hasan was all one big elaborate ruse by Hideo to throw us off the REAL Silent Hill scent. :p
-
Another rumor about SH reboot, that means another week has passed.
-
Andy Robinson of VGC has said kojima isn't making a silent hill game so I highly doubt this is true
ID: hf1r3geTrue but gematsu doesn't throw shit at a wall either so they must really believe it
-
My insider confirms R* is working on GTA Online 2 bundled with GTA 5 Whalemastered edition you can now buy the opressor mk3.5 for $10000 paid by American Express
-
This one has been rumoured for at least a year. Konami is not working with Kojima. It's just not happening. It is total BS.
-
Kojima,
who had a serious internal fight with Konami, fought to obtain creative fredoom from them alongside other Konami employees, is going back to work with a company who treated him like crap..?
Not happening.
-
I mean, Kojima won't be working for or even with Konami in this situation. They'll be working with Sony, who does allow their partners creative freedom. Konami in this situation will be little more than a licenser of the IP.
-
Kojima will be working with Sony, not Konami.
Sony is the middle men here. -
Lol is it you again? Why are you everywhere trying to discredit this and say there is no way it's happening. It sounds like you just don't want this to come true rather than the fact you don't believe it?
-
Why are you everywhere trying discredit this and say there is not way it's happening. It sounds like you just don't want this to come true rather than the act you don't believe it?
Because it's just rumors, and people are so thisty for MGS and SH that they take rumors for granteed. And this isnt the first time we got rumors like this.
People forget we had the Blue Box Studio conspirancy like a two months ago and that turned out to be bs.
-
People make up.
Money talks.
Different people in charge.
Multiple reasons why they could make up.
-
This lol.
This rumor is such bs.
Edit: downvote all you want, but rumors like these is what made people think MGS remake was being made by Blue Point. It’s not.
So many sources saying kojima is working with xbox, and past conflict between kojima and konami does not make sense for them to be working together as well.
-
There’s one person who said Kojima is in negotiations with Xbox. That obviously means for a future game that hasn’t even started development yet- if the negotiations got anywhere.
It’s been 2 years since death stranding came out. He hasn’t just been sitting doing nothing for that long.
Sony being the middleman between Kojima and Konami might be enough to get the project in the works.
Still a lot to play out, let’s see what happens.
-
That rumor was Xbox and Kojima has only just entered an agreement together. That means nothing has even started, not even pre-production.
Whatever Xbox and KP are working on, it's at least 3 - 4 years away.
In the meantime, Death Stranding is two years old. I very much doubt KP has been busy for two years with only DS Directors Cut.
-
I do really hope it’s true, but I keep seeing rumours about different companies working on Silent Hill. I’ll believe it once we get a true reliable source.
-
I’ll believe it when I’ll see it....
-
Can you imagine the hype from the internet if this gets announced? It'd be cool if Norman comes back but he's probably too busy with other project and Death Stranding 2
-
Here we go again...
-
"Ah shit, here we go again."
-
So wait! If this is true, does that mean Kojima ain’t going to Microsoft?
-

Wait, what? Can you give a bit of context about del Toro? I know he was involved in Silent Hill before it was dropped by Konami, but what other games did he contribute in?
