The game itself is older than most people in this sub. At this point they'd be better off completely remastering it from the ground up as a reintroduction to the game.
The only real hype for this release comes from the media who seem to really want it. Most people simply never played or don't give two shits about this game anymore.

Seemed like Ancel had way to ambitious plans for this game, development felt really slow and costly. Same with that game “Wild” that will probably never be released.Both games looked a lot similar in that way from gameplay we seen. Like they just worked on the early basics of the game and never got further.
Maybe he’s on to a new project that won’t see the light of day.

ID: hfihnijFunnily enough I think Ubisoft are banking on this being their "GTA." I suspect the reason Elder Scrolls 6 and GTA 6 are still in development after all these years is that the tech required to make huge immersive worlds is massive. Look at Cyberpunk to see an example of how difficult it is to pull off.
ID: hfij132CDPR made a few janky third person games and then jumped into trying to make a first person open world game. Their not on the level of Ubisoft, who was ready at launch with three open world PS5 games.
They’re probably dealing with scope creep, which is why they tried to pair up with Joseph Gordon Leavitt to get free artwork from his creatives network.

I lost interest when they said it would be online-only.
But seeing it again would bring me back. The scope and ambition was something I hadn't seen before.

Is there any way the hype of this game can live up to what the developers can actually put out? The original came out nearly 20 years ago. Ubisoft clearly doesn't care about the game or they would have worked on it sooner. Now that they are working on it I'm afraid of the modern micro-transaction hell Ubisoft is now fond of; I just don't see how this could be a good game.
I will be so happy to be proven wrong.
