- For me, it’s tied between GameCube and PS1
-
If I stick to the picture, PS1 indeed! That retro futuristic sound was out of this world. It was always hyping to hear it before playing some Tekken
ID: hhwq0zsID: hhwxdryI remember playing Tekken at Blockbuster, Free Arcade, it was great.
ID: hhx02z0I remember syphon filter 1 and the first tomb raider being the first realistic shooting games i played and I would get excited hearing the start up sound knowing I had the next 2 days to just binge play with my brother taking turns.
ID: hhx7gjwTechnically on the PlayStation, you got 2 for 1 when playing a PS game. You got the Sony boot sound and the PlayStation black screen sound.
-
Playstation 1 was so satisfying to listen to
-
Kinda have a sweet spot for the original PS-sound
ID: hhwqo90The BEOWWWWWW of the Sony logo was so foreboding. Either you’d get to play and you’d get the SCHWIIING of the PS logo, or you’d get the boot menu and it meant your little brother had been flinging your copy of the new demo disc that had an entire playable level of Rosco McQueen Firefighter Extreme around the house and scratched the shit out of it
ID: hhwtr6xThat startup screen would leave you hanging for an eternity before that “everything is ok” schwing.
ID: hhwwuk0Unless you were alive when PS1 came out you will never really appreciate how epic the start up sound was in comparison to the systems that came before it. When you turned it on for the first time it made you think "wow this a premium entertainment system" instead of just a toy. That ended up being true for me in a way since at that age I also used it to play my music CDs
ID: hhwqgf8especially when followed up with the mgs konami jingle

SEGA!!!!
Edit: Here’s the best version of the boot up
ID: hhw0ikpSEEEEGGGAAA
ID: hhwnvnwAh, it sounds just like I remember...
ID: hhwbqnaCame here for this sound effect
ID: hhwtrh4The Jason Derulo/DJ Khaled of OG start ups
ID: hhwfe9qAlways felt like a bit of a justified flex. Hearing human voices on consoles was kinda rare at that time so for me that was just awesome.
ID: hhwcaqzCame for this.
ID: hhwmys7Most Sega games didn’t have that sound though. It was mainly used for Sonic games.
ID: hhwjj1nAbout the only thing I remember about Sega was that startup sound and just how cool it was.
ID: hhw0hljThe best commercials ever made. "The Bully"
ID: hhw0wgvIn italian sega means the action of "jerk off" for males lmao
-
Ps one, all the way!
-
Why isn't GameCube on that picture it was obviously the best
ID: hhvozy1Showing the Z button alternative to friend who didn't find out yet was the ultimate flex
ID: hhw41giDon't forget the super secret 4 controllers plugged in holding Z startup
ID: hhw9w4xI remember I found out that one by accident.
ID: hhvowk0I definitely won't forget the good old sound of that gem
ID: hhvptnqI mean, it has Nintendo up there.
-
The true answer is the ps2
-
SEEEEEGAAAAAA
-
GBA was really refreshing, and is tied so hard with golden sun for me
-
The PlayStation 2 sound for me.
ID: hhx452mYeah, if you weren’t awake yet, that start up sound will get you there lol.

ID: hhvzmazITS SPHERICAL! SPHERICAL!!!
-
Ps1 all the way
-
Idk about best, but I'm least likely to forget the Sega sound.
-
Wii
-
Xbox 360 for me
-
Original Xbox. So much nostalgia to that start up. Booting the console way to early in the morning, trying to turn the TV down to avoid waking anyone up.
ID: hhvwj8oBlub blub blub blub. Aaaraaarrrrwoooooaaaar!

Gamecube
-
Dreamcast ftw
-
SEGA, but only the games that actually audibly said it. Sonics are the only ones I know that did it, but there may be others.
-
NES & SNES. Didn't waste my time with start up sound, just straight to the game.
-
The EU Sega Saturn sound.
-
Ps1 or Sega for me, hands down.

Simply epic.
