PS5 controller on PC help

Hello,

I just bought a PS5 controller to use on my PC and right out the box tried it on my PC and the L1 and L2 button don't work. I went to the hardware and devices and to preferences to test it and i shows the L2 button as always being pressed even though it doesn't do anything in a game. Any ideas?

Thanks

I know you're looking for advice so this isn't helpful, but I just want to say I don't have any of these issues using my ps5 controller with steam, so you may just want to return the controller for a new one? Sounds like your controller is a dud.

Its pretty obsurd that in this day and age we spend 70 dollars on a piece of technology that doesnt even work. I guess nothing can be perfect but geez. Its too common these days.

All tech can be a lemon, people spend 50,000 plus on cars and they have manufacturers defects too, it’s just a bad one, return it and give tech a slack.

No I agree, and it sucks, but just wanted to offer up the perspective that it's probably just a bad controller. I can literally just jump into big picture mode on steam and it works flawlessly without having to touch a thing or download additional software.

It’s too common? Have you seen many posts about faulty DualSenses?

I mean they designed the controller for the playstation only, and it works perfectly there

i recon it may need an update ? they come semi regularly but only when you plug the controller into the console…only thing i could think of

use steam. It has native support for the dualsense and as far as I know, it's the only way to get adaptive trigger and haptic feedback in PC game that support them.

if you don't have the game on steam, just add your game as a non-steam game into your steam and load the game from steam and it will use the steam native support for the controller.

Ive tried multiple games on steam.

sounds to me you have a faulty controller. Do you have a PS5 to test it on?

sounds like a broken controller. I use a PS5 controller when I play rocket league on PC and it works flawlessly. I would return it.

Since you don't u have a ps5 to test it on how about you try the controller on another pc or even your phone (get an emulator and bind the button you think don't work)

Try ds4 windows, makes the playstation controllers inputs appear as an Xbox controller which is better supported

Didn't work.

Google Ds4 windows and use the GitHub link from there. The one from the website is discontinued if I remember correctly and it’s handled from the GitHub now.

I use it and it works.

It might need an update.

When you connect controller to ps5 first thing is that it updates it. Its either broken controller or you need to update it. I dont know how without ps5
