Used 3700x Price

The title says most of it. I’m looking for a 3700x, not interested in the 5000 series. Most of what I see are new offers ranging from $300-$350 (usd).

I was contacted by a seller that has a used 3700x, 8 months with no OC. He wants $250 at pickup for it. Is this a decent deal? I’m unfamiliar with the used market for these chips.

Edit: I ended up getting the price down to $225, and I also have a copy of the receipt from the original purchase for any warranty work needed over the next few years. Overall, it seems like a solid deal now that I can have warranty work done if needed.

$250 is kinda high but it’s not horrible

What would you consider to be a reasonable price?

$200

I'm gonna sell mine very soon, I would be looking for 250$ bc that's what see them usually selling for.

My buddy upgraded and listed his 3700x for $250.

Protip just go to eBay and lookup used 3700x and then select sold/completed listings on the left side and it'll show you what the most recent ones have sold for.

Sold mine for $200 not too long ago. $250 isn't awful.

On

the lowest I seen for used is $180 shipped. $200-250 is the range I seen the past few months. $250 is just ok price for new. Anything higher you could get 5600x used instead.

If he can include the original receipt that's not a bad deal as you'll have warranty for over 2 more years.

Why Not Just Spend The Extra $50-$100 For A 5700G? Meets Your Needs And Includes iGPU, Versus A 2 Year Old Processor That’s Been “Used For 8 Months No OC”

ID: hj6kwou

If you spend and extra $50 here and $20 there for something better, by the end of the build you are $300 over budget.

I Agree, But You Could Also Wait For The Cache Refresh And People To Sell Their Old 5XXX Series. If There’s A Microcenter Near You, They Offer Great Deals On Products Excluding GPU.

Sad to see the downvotes… but this is the right approach when there is a budget. I am in the same boat and looking to upgrade my CPU from 1600 to 3700X and finally replacing the Phenom II 64 X4 980. My motherboard, ASRock AB350 PRO4, is not officially supporting Zen 3 CPUs. I am software engineer and game in 1080p. I have a RX570 and a RX550 and I don’t see that getting an upgrade anytime soon. I am waiting for 3700 to drop to $150.

Maybe on a b350/z370 board?

Seems fine. If you’re so concerned then why don’t you just suck it up and get a new one that way you won’t have to worry about any problems a used one might come with

I’m not concerned about issues with it. I am just wondering if this is a decent price.

$250 isnt bad, I put mine on ebay after I upgraded and got about that, a year ago. I'd be surprised if a used one was still 250+

11 : Anonymous2021/11/03 19:37 ID: hj6tl8s

Sold a basically new (used all of a month) 3700x for $240 cad (about $200 USD). Had lots of interested folks. Like, over thirty. Lol

I wouldn’t buy a used cpu learn from my mistake I bought a used r5 3600 off new egg last March didn’t get around to using it till May and any time I stress tested it it crash or blue screen at all stock bios settings.

13 : Anonymous2021/11/03 21:02 ID: hj76wdb

I got one for 200 shipped from

.

It came in a 5800x box no cooler, but I didn't mind. Hella savings.

14 : Anonymous2021/11/03 21:03 ID: hj7729i

I would not pay more than $200.

Just my opinion if your not in a rush and can wait, hold up a few weeks. Intel’s new chips just launched and supposedly is good. I would expect 5000 series to drop in price which would impact then 3000 resale value.

16 : Anonymous2021/11/03 22:12 ID: hj7hfl1

I'm guessing you're not getting 5000 series because you have a 300 series board. I would definitely suggest just getting a 3600 or 3600X instead.

ID: hj7jhqm

I do have a 300 series board, this is more of a work rig. With the tasks that I need done the extra cores/threads are very helpful.

ID: hj7mvmu

Ah okay, $240 is a bit high, but otherwise a 3700X is a good option.

I got my 3700x on Prime days from Amazon for $250 new, so definitely try and talk him down as low as he will go.

ID: hj7nzam

I edited the OP. I ended up talking them down, and getting a copy of the receipt for the original purchase so I can still take advantage of the 3 year warranty if needed.

ID: hj7oarj

Very wise and good job, $225 for a basically newer CPU that could and should easily last longer than 3 years
