- In RE:Village, how does Heisenberg know of Chris' activities in Africa? During a certain scene, he calls Chris a "boulder-punching A-hole".
-
Easter Egg. Nothing more.

It was added as fan service/meme material without any concern for implications. In the JP script, he calls him a "gorilla-looking bastard."
ID: hjckxftGorilla-looking bastard is pretty darn accurate
ID: hjcr7r9Interesting. Are there any other significant differences in the scripts?
ID: hjcswckThe files in particular suffer from the same sort of mistakes or missing information as previous games. The localizations can't decide whether the Mold is a fungus or bacterium, the JP script contains more details behind Alcina's mutation and the dagger, etc.
ID: hjdk9ahOh that's why I find JP twitter comments with the naming "Gori-san" is official now.
ID: hjdlhb0Since the debut trailer, Japanese commenters thought the new older tough looking Chris made him look like a Gorilla, so "Gorisu"ゴリス became a meme long before the game came out. Im pretty sure the Japanese script was also fan service to the meme
ID: hjdqo8uI always assumed the games were written in English and played as such by Japanese people after the poor quality of RE1 in Japan VO. Interesting.
ID: hjebqpfThe games have always been written in Japanese and translated into English, like most JP games. There are some more recent exceptions where an English writer has been more involved, but the story is generally entirely controlled by the JP staff.

Who doesn't know about that
-
Chris probably posts videos of himself punching boulders on his insta.
ID: hjeymsrProbably
-
He doesn’t actually know anything about Africa, Chris obviously punched clean through multiple boulders on his way into the village
ID: hjcosk7"Damn level design borders!"
-
Because you punch a boulder people will know
-
Heisenberg is aware of A LOT. His "A Beautiful Mind" collage shows that he is obsessed with information both inside and outside the village.
-
Shiva prolly told everyone she knew about it, which made its way to him.
ID: hjdfwmgWhat happened to her?
ID: hjdhyd2She talked too much…
ID: hje0grpSheva* <3
ID: hjea0vaSheva Sheva HURRRYYYYY

I’m pretty sure I heard something about him having files about Chris and that’s how he knew
-
He looks like the kinda guy who would try and punch a bolder, idk if he necessarily knew it was true
-
Easter egg.
-
Well Heisenberg seems to be very technologically advanced, there’s no doubt that he can probably find information on people very quickly. Most likely he keeps files on people that he believes could be potential Allies or threats
-
He must’ve played Resident Evil 5
-
The one he punched in Africa is probably not the first, nor the last, boulder he punched.
-
Chris was talking to Heisenberg over a beer one day. He took a drag from his cig, and with a pensive expression explained to Karl that he wasn't going to 'keep punching boulders my entire life', and that he needed someone to continue in his footsteps. When Heisenberg asked him what he meant by that, Chris told him the Africa story. Then he stood up and introduced Claire. He also explained why he was introducing Claire.
At that point, Heisenberg was relieved to find out he wasn't as crazy as he'd thought. He may have created an undead metal army, but here was Chris Redfield...a man totally off his boulder.
ID: hjdg6ljThis is my sister Claire. And you need to fuck her.
ID: hjdybmkSave the Redfield - err, I mean, Heisenberg bloodline, Karl!

A podcast I listen to theorizes that Chris is the kind of guy that would tell that story and brag about it at a bar.
EDIT: Pod name is "Watch Out for Fireballs". A general games club pod that just did an episode on RE8 last month. They've also got Bonfireside Chat, which is great Soulsborne specific podcast that get me into them in the first place.
ID: hjcbjw1Care to share that podcast? Love me some Resi content.
ID: hjdk599Well he must've mentioned it during his alcoholic phase.
ID: hjdrzloI'd also believe it if he told Jill or Claire about punching a boulder to take out Wesker and one of them shared it while drunk at a bar. If my brother, who is also named Chris, killed his nemesis by punching a boulder into him to push him into lava I'd probably tell everyone too.
-
It’s posted on Chris’s Facebook
-
it's just fan service (and a very good piece of it too, I loved that line).
-
Stop thousands of bioweapon disasters from unfolding, you're still just a member of stars, but you go and punch one boulder...
-
I've thought about that too, I just chocked it up to be just a funny reference
-
Maybe Sheva was amazed at Chris' amazing feat of strength that he did to save her life, so she told everyone in the BSAA, then word spread.
-
When you punch an actual Boulder into a lava pit, word spreads round
-
Easter Egg and an English only dialogue thing. In the JP version, this isn't said by him, instead calling him a "Gorilla" essentially. "Boulder Punching Chris" is a popular meme for English countries and "Gorilla Chris" is a popular meme for Japan.
-
Maybe that wasn't the only time Chris punched a boulder. Through the years, maybe it became his thing. Some people skateboard, some free climb mountains. Chris became the dude that just wantonly punch boulders everywhere.
-
How did they get the child separated into flasks and distributed to the lords in a matter of hours, and WHY was the child distributed to the lords? Who services the phone and power lines in the village? Does a Bell South mf roll up to the castle when the phone stops working?
-
Chris punched more boulders in the Village and Capcom didn't let us see.
-
Just fan fodder. Same as "What are you buyin'" from the Duke. Just fun, nothing more.
-
That story probably got told a lot around BSAA headquarters, and word got out
-
Probably the best Easter egg in the entire RE franchise
-
Heisenberg is a characterized stereotype: He's s bit overweight, wears a fedora a black trenchcoat, and if he didn't know better; he'd not be shaving his neckbeard. Now, I don't know if he's a negative Stereotype, but I do know that the RE devs love their campy humor. And he is that.
Also, the Village People know A LOT about the biopharmaweapon industry, since they have quite a bit of info on Umbrella's activities, their competitors, and long historical roots predating the modern biothreat.
Them knowing Chris is THE ENEMY of bioweapons in this world, would be like knowing water is wet. I'd believe they're on Bio4Chan taking bets on when Chris comes into do something incredibly comical yet effective.
ID: hjfe9zjWater is actually not wet; It makes other materials/objects wet. Wetness is the state of a non-liquid when a liquid adheres to, and/or permeates its substance while maintaining chemically distinct structures. So if we say something is wet we mean the liquid is sticking to the object.

I'm thinking of the same thing. And evil is everywhere, knowing the ins and outs of the heroes.
