FF9 is by far my favorite FF. I would kill for a full remake.

ID: hjyo4lwIt could be a different business division that does the IX Remake, or they could outsource it like VII Remake originally was. I’m skeptical of a IX Remake happening, but if it is real, it wouldn’t necessarily have to wait until the end of VII Remake, which might not be done for another 5 years at least.
ID: hjyhkbgI forgot about final fantasy 7 remake part 2 hopefully when that get finished most likely 9 should be announced hopefully. But me personally I hope they make ff9r before they make ff8r!
ID: hjzxk55I think a remaster with upgraded models and resolution and orchestral music, better FMVs would work better. It’s not like FFVIII that they lost the source code

I still can't believe they released this with sharpened character models but unenhanced backgrounds. The contrast is just so grating to my eyes. With the last few years of advancements in neural net / AI upscaling, it just seems like they could've done more.
Anyway, loved the game back in the day but never finished it.

this game is magic, but if i ever play it again, it will be on pc with the moguri mod or if they ever make a good remake/remaster.
tbh, i'd prefer to fire up my old ps1 instead of playing it in the weird modernized version with that battle ui.
also because i got the italian version that went 11/10 making different characters talk like they're from different regions, like the chief of the thieves with sicilian accent, cina with roman accent and ViVi TaLkInG lIKe ThIs, it was so fun
ID: hjyf278I understand the context of the Sicilian accent in connection with a band of thieves but can you explain some of the context behind Cinna speaking with a Roman accent? What does a Roman accent imply in the broader Italian culture?
ID: hjypviutbh i don't know, they just called him "er cina" and made he speak roman dialect, it was weird but very funny, also the 3 twins speak like they're from sardegna [dunno how it's called by english speakers] and that was also pretty hilarious

This was the first FF game I ever played! My little bro and I got our PS2 in June 02 and got GTA3 and FFIX cause our cousin had VII and said it was amazing so obviously IX would be better!
I played this game basically day and night for the next month and was so obsessed with it I used to dream of it. It took me damn near that whole summer to beat it and it was a ton of fun! If this was remastered in anyway for the PS5 I would throw money at it so fast!

This was the first FF game I looked forward to. Rented VII and thought it was garbage as I had never played a RPG before. Played the demo of VIII and thought it was ok now that I was a little older. But when IX was announced I was hype and couldn’t wait for this game. Still play it every couple years. Such a great game.

I read this as Final Fantasy XI and got really fucking excited. Now I'm just unhappy.

There are rumours of a remake. It was part of the big Geforce Now leak. I assume if it was coming to Geforce Now it would also come to PS5.
But this is just a rumour, and personally I find it hard to believe. Or at least if it is true it's in really early planning stages.
