- As a core fan, you'll be disappointed, but as a casual fan, you'll have fun
-
It’s okay to think it was bad and still have fun with it.
-
It was a fun movie for me, but for the exact opposite reason.
-
As a fan of movies it was awful. Never seen a story so terribly structured.
-
I brought a friend who is not a fan of the games and he did not like it at all. It’s an aimless movie that jumps across many scenes that don’t make sense.
-
It's better than any live action resident evil movie. That does not mean it's good.
ID: hofq7tuID: hofxb9kAt least the animated movies kept true to the characters. Welcome To Raccoon City took the absolute smelliest dump on Leon’s chest
-
I don’t recommend paying more than $8 to watch it. But when it inevitably hits one of the streaming services, I will be rewatching it many times.
-
It's ok/mediocre at best. Calling it good is a stretch imo.
-
I was disappointed but after seeing the budget I give it a lot more leeway.
ID: hof55tkFor comparison's sake, the budget for 28 Days Later was 8 million dollars and it's a much, much better zombie movie (yes, I know they are not technically zombies).
ID: hofda7dWith inflation it would bump it up to 12 million but I don't think you can compare the 2 when you have the lore Resident Evil does. I'm not saying there aren't low budget movies that are fantastic but I definitely feel Resident Evil would need a higher budget.
Additionally, if you adjust for inflation the 2002 Resident Evil movie was 50 million (33 in 2002 dollars). That is twice the budget of Welcome to Raccoon City.
ID: hofc04gNo, no it is not. The 28 Franchise is a shit rendition of horror.
-
It’s a fun movie with great moments. It’s actually horror unlike the other shit movies. It’s good enough for what it is. It’s a wait until streaming movie
-
I wanted to go watch it, but for some reason my local cinema doesn't show it...It's annoying.
-
Yeah I give the movie a C+. Like if it were a kid writing a paper, I'd make them go back and make corrections and turn it in again haha.
I saw it in theatres. Was disappointed but did like some of it. And I'll watch it again on streaming and maybe like it better.
-
I loved it. But I do not recommend it.
-
This was a great zombie movie. There's plenty you can nitpick, but it's a GOOD zombie movie. It takes the best parts of Silent Hill, Dawn of the Dead, the first Resident Evil movie, and I'm certain many other inspirations.
The boss fight was underwhelming, and is really my only qualm with the movie, but I highly encourage any horror enthusiast to watch this.
Watch it as a zombie movie, not a Resident Evil movie. Be grateful for the RE parts, but accept it wasn't made for the die-hards. It's made for a general audience.
ID: hofto3fSilent hill...really ? Its got freakin nothing of silent hill and silent hill never was about zombie.
ID: hofxoceI get what you’re saying, but when the director says things like a “true 1:1 retelling of Resident Evil” and then proceed to give us the rushed 1:45hr ass clownery of a circus it’s a little insulting. As a movie aside from the title I feel like things are so rushed anyway. No character development no ark. Just a pile of references that you’re either supposed to get or won’t understand because there’s no context to said reference.
-
I still have to go watch it
-
With any creation..I think you need to understand what they were trying to achieve with it. What was their goal?
A movie like this..based on a game(s) that were inspired by campy horror movies..being translated back into a movie..that's going to be a little messy no matter what. It was clearly made with reverence for the series, which I appreciate. A little bit too tongue in cheek at times for my liking, but I totally get it. For all the misses, which there were many, I enjoyed it for what it was intended to be.
Is it a work of art? Absolutely not
Did it achieve the goal of being amusing? Yeah, I'll give it that
-
Core fan. Had fun.
-
Chris was hot so I was okay with it.
-
It's the Mortal Kombat Annihilation of the Resident Evil franchise. That's all I'm going to say
-
It was entertaining. Was it classically good? No. I had a good time though. Definitely the best RE movie I’ve seen…which isn’t saying much, but hey!
-
Other than how Leon was portrayed, I enjoyed the movie a lot. No, its not a perfect movie and I do understand where most of the criticism is coming from, but I walked into it knowing it was going to be a low budget B movie and still had a good time.
ID: hofu71oI could have overlooked it being a B-Movie had it actually been faithful to the games which it wasn't in the slightest other than the character names and the mansion/rpd set.
-
I liked it, I really could care less what anybody else thinks, the bottom line is I think it was a good movie

Its probably better than at least two of the animated movies too. They are mostly not great...
