- Looks like ARK devs copied Bethesda's homework
-
Well, Lost Island was based on Tamriel, so I hope they are similar.
ID: hpua572ID: hpub872Yes, it was a mod that the devs made into an official DLC map.
ID: hpucm5uMy upvote just turned into a downvote.
ID: hpu1p05Devs also used Daedric Script on one of their Boss Creature’s dossier a while back as well.
I’m pretty sure they are openly TES fans.
ID: hpur095Wildcard has done many bad things in the past, but this was a Community made map, which was a literal remake of the actual Map because the creators were fans.
ID: hpu4pk7that's very cool
ID: hpueiq1Reminds me more of Albion from Fable TBH
-
I've seen alot of posts like this the map was a mod for ark that the devs put into the base game also the the map is inspired by the tes map that is not a fact that is hidden
-
It’s really weird you’re trying to publish this in a negative light.
Wildcard has done many bad things in the past, but this was a Community made map, which was a literal remake of the actual Map because the creators were fans.
Wildcard paid the team, polished up the map, and released it for free…
ID: hpu5lolI'm sorry if this seems like a hate post but it really isn't, I was just pointing out the similarities while joking
ID: hpuypx0Hey, I thought it was kinda funny. I do appreciate the context though

Ia there any game where the cold/mountain part is at the south and not the north? And opposed to that, a hot/sandy part at the north?
ID: hptjpy8Thedas (Dragon Age) is located in the southern hemisphere of its planet. You never go there, but below Thedas is a frozen waste of ice and snow.
ID: hptzpelYou go there a little in the jaws or harkon dlc for inquisition.
ID: hptrl66It's more common to see them at both poles if you have a southern one.
ID: hpth2osHammerfell (the region on the north-west part of tamriel) has a big desert
ID: hptpdhsFortnite during chapter 2 had the cold mountains to the south
ID: hpug8vwDamn, you got downvotes for saying fortnite..
ID: hpu1fy9Dwarf Fortresss. I mean, yeah, it's procedural generation, but still, when you generate a new world, the cold pole is either north or south and sometimes, even both.
ID: hpuh74y...So...sometimes the south pole is toasty warm?

This was a mod that was made an official map, stop spreading information by saying ”hurr durr Ark devs copy hurr durr”.
ID: hpuym3sThis is like when reddit tried to claim they were bribing people with dlc to win a steam award.
Reality was they were saying their next creature would be a sheep if they won and it would release sooner.
-
thats a realy cool reference.
-
Quick question, are there penguins on list island? I need to farm plymere badly
-
Its a map made by the community btw
-
Well, it's not made by Ark devs, and this is specifically what the actual devs were going for.
-
The free maps ARK has provided thus far are community made maps that are transformed and refined into Official maps and if I'm not mistaken, it's mostly the original map creators that do most of the work and not the official Studio devs.
Then again, cool nod! Clearly they're fans of TES.
-
Woah, a map inspired by the elder scrolls map looks like the elder scrolls map?!
-
...this is not a secret. The direct copy of the map is acknowledged by the devs, who adopted this map into the game from a player-made mod.
-
Imagine getting and elder scrolls game that is the entire map of Tamriel with next gen graphics. That's what elder scrolls needs to be in the next 5-10 years
ID: hpunq8pSo basically a remake of Arena. yeah, that'd be amazing
-
this map is a community made mod that was chosen by wildcard be an official map. they do this once every year.
-
Looks like, okay but don’t make it look obvious.
-
Playing elder scrolls is like making your very own personal game of thrones adventure. But instead of being a main character you are Just some guy Who steals from People and has powers
-
It's not stealing if you call it a "tribute"
ID: hptrx4sIt's not the best map in the world. It's only a tribute
ID: hpuaok3This song literally started playing when I scrolled across this comment lol
ID: hpu0viuThis map isn't the greatest map in the world then?
-
HOW DARE THEY COPY OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR TODD HOWARD!
-
LOL and Ark is currently making a copy claim on Myth of Empires
ID: hpu5t0lA map's layout can't be copyrighted.
ID: hpu94i5I just finished my Intellectual Property course this fall semester on Wednesday, and I’m failing to see why you can’t copyright a fictional map? Could you elaborate as to why you can’t copyright a map layout?
Edit: I’m getting downvoted so I think I should clarify. I’m asking a neutral question, not implying the Ark devs did anything wrong. From this thread I’ve learned the map was inspired by TES and the creators were either given permission or bought the rights to use it.
-
Hey man can I copy your homework?
Ya, just change it up a little bit so it's not obvious.
-
.....Holy shit!
ID: hpt9vodLook at those rocks!
-
And the new warzone map copied Fortnite who also copied PubG it’s the circle of shite
-
You just gotta change it a little
-
Looks similar to tibia as well

Also, isn't Lost Island a community made map? I think the non-main Arks are all community made.
