Both have their advantages and disadvantages Pros of digital version- You can buy and play it immediately after it's downloaded

Cons of digital version- Storage is mostly limited in console Downloading is a pain in the ass if your internet is shitty Can't resell

You can sell physical copies but you're stuck with them in steam.

One weakness I recently found with physical games was when I learned about PS Remote Play. You can play games on your PS4 or PS5 anywhere with an internet connection using a computer or phone. But in order to play physical games, you need to insert the disc into the console... which you can't do if you're trying to use PS Remote Play, and are not physically there

I'm a marine engineer and I actually get more time to play games than in my younger days of school etc. And the only reason I don't have much on my shelf is digital distribution.

That and being less willing to waste that time investment (and money) "trying" new games you're not even sure you're gonna like. You eventually realize what franchises and genres you are more likely to enjoy a new release from and only buy and try those.

To be fair the PS1 games could be chunky with the 4 disks, I still have my original Final Fantasy 9 and Legend of Dragoon case and disks. They will probably be buried with me, I just can't get rid of them lol.

The opposite for me. Games back then were mostly $60, not many alternatives unless you rented. I played two or three n64 games, and one snes game from my brother.

Now with sales I have way too many steam games.

I mean $60 new. We didn’t have much money when I was young. My parents once in a blue moon would take us to Blockbuster or gamestop and we’d buy used ~$20 games for ps1 and xbox original
