I am about to buy a ps3. Which games would you recommend? I know it is an old console but for now, it is the best I can buy and I know it can be a lot of fun too.

Get a PS3 that runs PS2 games. Then just add the extra memory and you are good to go.

If you are at all interested in rpgs my suggestions are
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the white witch (Ghibli art style)
Shin Megami Tensei (SMT) series on PS store with games like Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, and Raidou Kuzunoha 1 & 2 (for the Raidou games digital is best because physical prices are absurd)
Persona series is a side series of SMT with almost all games available on PS3 with P1 & P2 eternal punishment on PS1 and P3 fes & P4 on PS2 being available on the digital store with Persona 5 being native to the console. (The only title you are unable to play is the 1st part of persona 2 that being Innocent Sin because it is restricted to the PSP)

Hey I used to play pes2010 and nb2k 14 up until my ps3 couldn't handle them in 2020. Ps3 is still fun . Just get whatevee game you can get your hands on. They are probably super cheap.

Demons Souls and Dark Souls are good picks imo, Dark Souls 2 should be played first of the souls games imo because of the differences it has but it is still really good. I never played DeS original, only played the remake but the remake was good (still the worst soulsborne game imo) and i want the original. Only problem is getting my sister to let me be in her room as thats where our ps3 currently sits, that is if i ever get DeS original

If you like ARPGs, Tales of Graces F (up to 4 players locally, but if you're playing alone, staying on the highest difficulty, or 2nd highest to catch up sometimes, will require to manage your allies with menus a lot against bosses).
I've played Tales of Arise (last "Tales of" game), they're different and both are worth playing.

I got Castlevania symphony of the night, which isn't a PS3 game lol. That's the only good game I have, other than that I have assassin's Creed and other Ubisoft junk. I hear uncharted is good.

I don't know if you're still reading but if the idea of Bejeweled/ Match-3-game mixed with a roleplay game appeals to you then you absolutely must buy Puzzle Quest on the PSN store. So much fun by yourself and a million times better with friends. Cheap game with incredible replay value. Also, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is a great variety of 16-bit Sega Classics including Shining Force!

Still has full servers, matches start as fast as they ever had (meaning a bit slow, but consistent)
I haven't been chewed out for being shit yet, even though I've just started fresh.

Congratulations with gaming console! If you like racing games, I will recommend you Gran Turismo 5 and 6, both are good, also some GRID and DiRT series by Codemasters and Need for Speed series such as Hot Pursuit (2010) and Most Wanted (2012).

driver san francisco, easily one of the best racing games released for consoles. it runs at 60 fps too. they're cheap as a ps3 disc compared to the monstrous prices for keys online due to it being pulled from shelves in 2016.
