What a great game indeed. I remember hearing a zombie saying: “De tras de ti imbecil” and when I looked backwards I saw three or more coming to me. This scaried the shit out of me.

Not that I needed another reason to be proud of my Gamecube, but this definitely did not hurt. Absolutely fantastic game.

Loved it on the Wii with the motion controls. Probably made the game easier but I loved it.

Still the best Resident Evil game, although RE2 remake is a close second.

The Merchant, balanced action and horror, German Suplex, Hunk's neck snap. 12/10.

I remember playing this on the GameCube.
Then the Wii.
Then the PC.
Then Xbox 360.
Then the PC again with a proper port. Tip: RE4HD is the best way to experience this game in HD.
Then again in VR. I love this game so much that I bought a Oculus Quest 2 just for this because it was exclusive.
And can't wait to play the remake on my PC.

I’m about 3/4 through re4 on quest 2 currently. The 17 anniversary is a good excuse for me to finish the game today.

This is not only one of the best games you’ve ever played. It’s one of the greatest games of all time full stop. Changed the industry forever moving forward, the same way Halo and Ocarina of Time did

The Switch verison is one of the laziest ports on the machine. No gyro controls, a few extra frame drops, no subtitles; they didn't even bother to properly capitalize the title on the home page.
And I still had a fucking blast because this game is just that good.
ID: hs9l2u3The title is lowercase on the steam version too. They went with the stylized case used with the logo. It bothers me too, especially since I can't think of another game that does that. I can't remember what it was, but there was something that threw me off about the switch's home screen graphic for re4 also. Low res, off center or something?
Edit: Actually, it turns out they updated the steam title. It used to be lowercase though.
ID: hs9m7h3The graphic, again to repeat the phrase, is just lazy. It’s the same image of Leon and Ashley from the main menu but with no text. To be fair other games on Switch have images with no text too but they at least have something unique to display. It’s not a huge deal but it’s just a sign of how little effort they really put into it.

My cousin and I beat this in one sitting then we went to bed and woke up and beat it again. It was amazing. I miss that guy everyday.

I played through the opening 30 minutes or so a couple times & couldn’t get past the awful controls. Wondering if it’s worth the effort to try again & stick with it, or wait for the remake

Played it for the first time in 2021 on Dolphin (GameCube emulator, 4K, 30 fps) and it was absolutely breathtaking.

I just played through Onimusha 3, which was the big Capcom action game released a year prior to RE4, and it was really cool to see how Onimusha 3 was a kind of stepping stone between the old pre-rendered style of Resident Evil 1-3 and what RE4 would accomplish a year later.

Disc 1 is awesome, but disc 2, on the military island, goes downhill, imo.

Played through all of the residents evils recently.
Sadly I could not get into this one. I think it was the aiming and controls on general i just couldn’t get on with.
Which is a shame as there’s nothing but positive reviews for it.
