Nioh 2 shipments and digital sales top 2.5 million

I didn’t think Nioh 2 would top the first game but it was even better. 2.5 is good but I wish more people gave it a chance.

ID: hw8irzlThey certainly don’t help. I avoided the genre for years, tried Nioh when it was on PS Plus and it opened the flood gates. Nioh 2 is easily my favourite of them all.
ID: hw8hxxhEh, I spent about an hour with the first Nioh. These games aren't for me, and it's 100% due to the difficulty.
ID: hw8l7pcI mean alot of people have limited playing time. You can't blame anyone that doesn't want to spend an hour trying to beat beating one boss.
ID: hw8nzhimeh, the difficulty in Nioh wasn't the issue for me. It's the constantly recycled normal enemies and diablo-like RNG loot/HP sponges that turned me off of it.
The game isn't even really harder than souls it's just that everything has so much fucking HP.
ID: hw8xpnvI would agree that they aren't as hard as they may seem. E.g. I personally avoided Souls until Bloodborne.
But then again while I managed to beat the game it was definitely the hardest thing I'd ever done. Took me 20 hours to beat the first boss and 100 hours to beat the game. And I would consider myself a hardcore player.
So yeah, kinda true but definitely not for everyone. In fact I'd say most people probably wouldn't beat the game if they gave it a try
ID: hw9gtq7Doubt that because nioh 2 wants those said "casuals" to play the game in a very specific way as opposed to nioh 1 where you have much more freedom when tackling combat. I got platinum on nioh 1 and I quit nioh 2 after the badger thing boss because the game wasn't changing in that aspect.

I thought this would be my GOTY in 2020; and then FF7 Remake and Ghosts came out. Still one of my all time favorites.

I couldn't really get into Nioh 1, but 2 was one of my favorites from 2020.
The gameplay was mostly the same (which is good), but the story was more accessible and creating your own cool character was awesome, instead of being stuck playing as John Nioh.
ID: hw9tc3nThe character from the first game was (very, very loosely) based on a real person, William Adams, who was one of the first Western samurai. His life was quite interesting.
I do enjoy creating my own character (I made Ganondorf), but it's cool that they drew from history for the protagonist.

For a niche game, that's pretty good. Can't wait for Stranger of Paradise this March, hope it has the same amazing gameplay

Nioh 2 is sooo good. I played like 80 hours and I'm not done yet. fusing yokai is great

One of my favorite games! Playing it at 120fps on PS5 was great. The combat variety in this game is tier1

This game was fantastic, only two flaws were the story and the game can get repetitive later but they improved upon the first one and it’s far more difficult too.

Best souls-clone imo. Improved on everything from the first one. The gear can be daunting because there is a fuckload of it but eventually you just breakdown or sell anything below rarities.

Despite being a pretty packed year it was my GOTY for 2020. I’ve already pre-ordered strangers of paradise and at this point I’m locked in for whatever team ninja puts out that uses this combat system so bring on more games!

The entire gaming industry is upside down. Games that deserve attention sell poor and games that are absolutely shit sale the best.

But imo good games always sell Hollow Knight for example big success.
Platinum games on the other hand fail constantly because they only know how to make good combat. Story, characters, level design, grafics are below average every time. For a game to sell u need to be good in more than 1 area

I am a big fan of the FromSoft souls games so I was excited to try Nioh. I lost interest due to constantly reused enemies and mundane level design. Every level felt the same. I've heard good things about Nioh 2 so I'll try that out eventually.

I much prefer Nioh 1 over Nioh 2 for the reason that the changes to the combat system felt unessecary and just made combat more cluttered in a game that was already fairly cluttered system wise

I've started it, but lost interest half way... not sure why as I adore souls like games.
