I can’t remember any other gaming moment when I so viscerally felt what the character was supposed to be feeling. That it was just horrible and I had to get away to make it stop.

I really have a difficult time putting into words how I feel about these but I’ll try. I think the original games were actually more effective at making us think these things were gore-y and terrifying. Something about the bad graphics and your mind having to fill in the gaps. Something about these new flesh monsters doesn’t feel as tangible, and actually more digital? Maybe it’s the game-ified glowing orange obvious weakspots of late I don’t know. Though tbf, the baby in Village was some good gore and body horror. But things like Eveline, Jack and Birkin’s final forms fail to leave me like, “Eww”

My least favorite was Saddler from re4. Everything was so perfect & then instead of a super difficult fight, he becomes an anti climatic spider where u just need to shoot his eyes

The fact that they reduced Nemesis to Just Another Fucking Wall of Meat in the remake (on top of the myriad of other ways they botched him in that game) will never cease to piss me off lol
