(Radeon RX6800) Is anyone else using the USB-C instead of the DP or HDMI having issues with the monitor? I bought a USB-C to mini-DP cable and my monitor won't display unless I unplug the cable from the GPU and then plug it back in. Freesync @144hz and HDR work and if the monitor goes to sleep it will wake, but booting into Windows requires an unplug to get the image to display.

Hi I am having trouble with a recent build. The pc won't display anything on the monitor. The specs are

Motherboard: msi Meg x570

Memory: t-force 3200

Power: evga 650

Cpu: ryzen 9 3000

Gpu:msi 3060

Monitor: sceptre

Everything turns on and light up i am pretty sure I plugged in everything correctly but it won't display anything. Not with a hdmi or display cord. The error code said 0d wich I looked up and it said it had something wrong with the memory card. I was hoping to get a solution

How did you manage to see an error code? Have you tried resetting the memory.

If there's multiple sticks of RAM, try using one at a time and see if the issue persists

It might be that the motherboard+CPU combo is rejecting that RAM if it's not faulty RAM

The latest driver (optional 21.2.2) disables the audio being run through the monitor (Acer KG271 using HDMI cable) and turns it into a Generic PnP Monitor when checked under devices). Any way of fixing this, without rolling back to the previous update?

Dunno, but you're not the first one to have that issue.

For now rollback and also please send a bug report so it'll get fixed.

TLDR: What do i need to turn on other than FreeSync in settings of monitor and FreeSync in radeon display settings for FreeSync to work?

I dont understand FreeSync (or its not working).

My graphics card is an rx 480 8gb and monitor Acer VG240Y (supports freesync). I also have secondary monitor that doesnt support freesync if that matters.

So i understand what freesync is for and how its supposed to work (i think) but i dont understand setting it up.

I turned Freesync on in my monitor settings. Then i turned it on in radeon software (display section in settings). This is what i found on the amd website but it does nothing.

I then also tried to move it from "AMD optimised" to "On" for the specific games in the gaming tab. Again, it does nothing - games still run on as many frames as they can.

When i searched on the internet, i found some people saying i need to turn on radeon chill, enhanced sync or limit frames in the game itself but on other places i found those are something different from freesync and that they are worse.

So id like to know how to make freesync actually work, thank You.

Google can solve all ur problems. Fast tips. U need to cap ur fps in game 3-4 less frames than ur HZ monitor have. If game have no built in fps limmiter use RTSS or Radeon chill.

Hi, for the last few months my laptop will randomly black screen every couple of weeks and will require a full reboot. It is under warranty but when sent off for repair I was told after a full diagnostics test no faults can be found. I think i'm correct in thinking that this is a graphics driver issue but I currently have the newest drivers installed directly from the AMD website.

If you're using the optional driver version, use DDU in safe mode to wipe it and install the latest recommended driver or the last 20.x.x. driver version, 21.x.x. has been giving people problems.

Hello everyone,

So I have run into a lot of black screens lately. It started a few months ago when the computer started black screening sometimes while playing a game (Forza Horizon 4) with a video running in the background. Then a few weeks ago playing demanding games (Battlefront 2, Forza Horizon 4) led to backscreens randomly even without a video running in the background. Now the PC backscreens while playing non-demanding games (World of Warships).

At least initially the black screens would happen in what I consider non demanding scenarios (main menus/paus menus) but more recently they happen all time when in any game. I can't even open World of Warships anymore since the PC will backscreen as soon as the game has loaded.

Note: When the PC backscreens the sound will keep on playing for a few seconds before stopping. Lights and fans are all still on and non of them ramp up or anything like that. The only way to get out of it is to shut down system and start it again.

My Specs:

The PC ran fine until a few months ago. It was built by me with new parts in April 2019. I have tried overclocking etc but my card was not so tolerant so everything is at stock currently except for the ram which is running at xmp. I tried running the Heaven GPU load benchmark to check temps a while back. They were at around 70C for the GPU under full load, but the PC black screened after a while.

Things I have tried:

This leads me to believe that the issue is hardware related as a full factory reset did nothing. One weird thing I noticed today was that all my settings (key binds etc.) in game (World of Warships) got reset after the backscreen. First time this happened.

What are the next steps I should take? I saw that repasting the gpu fixed it for some people. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am running a 3600 w/ a 5700xt, 32gb of RAM, 3tb of NVME SSD, 650w PSU. I try to keep my GPU updated as often as possible, sometimes it might go 2 months in between tho.

I have recently been having issues with MS Flight Simulator crashing regularly mid-flight while I have twitch going on my second screen. This has never been an issue for the first 4+ months the game came out, but the last month or two, it seems that every time I am mid flight and watching a stream or cruising Reddit on my second screen, everything just goes black and stops the game. I have tried to reduce the resolution of the stream i am watching, but it just seems to get overloaded eventually.

Any ideas?

Search older driver page. Download old driver. Download /install DDU. Enter safe mode. Run DDU. Enter normal mode. Install older driver. Don't "fix what ain't broke" again unless you run into problems.

I am looking for some help in choosing a motherboard. I am building in a Corsair 4000x white case. Trying to go with a black and white build. Plan to go with 5800x and Corsair Vengeance 3600 RAM and was looking at the ASUS X570-Pro, I actually ordered one and it showed up and I think it was either used or someone tried it and returned it. It had no cables, there was a dent on the corner and the M2 heatsink cover was loose in the package so I returned it. At first I was just going to order the same one but after looking around I decided to go with the Asrock X570 Tiachi but have not ordered it yet. I'm seeing more and more 550s out there and I just don't know enough. Should I just get a $150 board and call it a day? I'm not an advanced user who will be over clocking etc, I don't mind spending a little extra to have a nice machine but also don't want to just piss money away. Tyia for any advice.

Ryzen 5 3400G stock cpu fan sounds louder than usual today, been silently running for 2 years, kinda nervous to run my pc i dont want my cpu to burn out or anything, any ideas as to why its louder all the sudden?

my friend is building a pc with a msi b550 and a 5600x. since new gpus are impossible to find he wanted to use the gtx970.

The issue is that even after updating the bios he is stuck at the "boot" led. The screen will remain black during boot with both hdmi and display port. Checking in the compatibility page of msi the gtx 9x0 series is not listed as compatible.

He tried to plug the SSD from his old pc and a usb key to install windows 10 but nothing changes.

Is it possible that is the issue? Or it may be something else?

If MSI said that it isn't compatible and won't actually work, then it's probable. I recommend testing a newer GPU on that system to see if it's actually the 970 causing it, because it may not be the case.

Hi, long time NVIDIA user who's just picked up a 6900XT for my wife yesterday. So far, it's been great, and has offered a decent performance bump over the 3080 she had previously.

Obviously the overclocking is a bit different on AMD cards, but I'm getting my head around that easy enough I think.

What I am struggling to get my head around though is the Adrenalin software/drivers. It looks great, and as a UI it's light years ahead of NVCP, however a couple of things have got me a bit stumped.

The custom resolution feature doesn't seem to work at all? Wereas the NVIDIA one was super easy to use, and would let you do pretty much anything including overclock your monitor with a couple of simple clicks.

From a quick Google, it sounds as if it's possibly just broken ATM/doesn't play well with multiple different displays of different resolutions/refresh rates etc? Has anyone found a reliable way to get it working, or do I just need to sit on it and await a future fix?

We game on 4k TVs that technically have three native resolutions, 4k@60hz, 1440p@120hz, and [1080p@120hz...we](mailto:1080p@120hz...we) should have done 4k@120hz too, but Samsung screwed us over by saying it would come in a software update, but the 82" Australian model was the only one that didn't get it (as they omitted a one connect box connection for it so limited to HDMI 2.0b basically).

Anyway, previously with NVIDIA cards, if you switched to 1440p or 1080p it would automatically run at 120hz, however with the AMD card installed, it always forces a 60hz refresh rate. This is particularly annoying as I want to use VSR (or a custom res) to do 4k/5k@120hz with a 1440p@120hz active signal resolution.

I can change it via the Windows display driver supported resolution list, however only to 1080p/1440p@120hz, as any of the VSR resolutions will just force it to display in 1440p@60hz mode.

Clearly we're overcomplicating things massively by being TV/couch gamers here (and said TVs having several 'native' resolutions that run at different refresh rates), but I feel there should still be a solution to this given it worked fine with NVCP/NVIDIA drivers.

I've also not found a way yet to make it use 120hz in game when you have the desktop set to 60hz (for desktop browsing 4k@60hz is superior, but for gaming 120hz/preferably a VSR at 120hz is a far better experience.

NVCP had an "application controlled" or "prefer maximum refresh rate" setting you could set by application, but I can't seem to find any alternative other than changing the desktop resolution/refresh rate everytime.

Very much sounds like the two issues are linked, as the AMD software/drivers are defaulting to the lower refresh rates and treating them as native when they're not.

Anyone else having issues like this/have any sort of solution/workaround for it at all?

I have an Ryzen 5950X with a Scythe Fuma 2 that’s not overclocked in any way. Under load I get a 15 degree (C) difference between CCX 1 and 2. Is that normal?

All the 5ghz priority cores seem to be on CCD1 (the Hot one) and the processor is not thermal throttling.

This still seems quite strange to me

CCD 1 gets to 81 degrees C under load, CCD2 to 66 degrees

I have a 2200g running on a AsrockB450m Pro4 and I have recently purchased a 3600, I do plan to buy a 550, but in the mean time I'm going to use this board; curious about 2 things. 1) will I be able to use the 2200g in the board after updating the bios and taking the 3600 out? 2) Can I downgrade the bios after getting a 550 and will it hurt anything?

I recently bought a ryzen 5 5600x, updated the bios of my asus prime x470 pro and installed the cpu. After turning the pc on, it gets stuck in the bootscreen of my motherboard, from which you usually can go to the bios (what is not working).

The motherboard works fine with the old cpu. I tried troubleshooting the error, by replacing all the parts with some of my friends, so i can say that the problem should be on the moherboard.

you might need to update your bios for you MB since the cpu is a new one. The bios versions can be found on the website of the brand of ur MB.

I recently was able to find a 5950X and ever since I installed it, I have been having weird issues. Ambient temp is around 21°C, but idle temps are around 65°C (one core at 4.9GHz, all others sleeping). However, if I run blended Prime95, it puts all 16 cores to 4.6GHz and the temps DROP to 62°C.

When I ran my 2700X, idle was around 35°C and blended Prime95 peaks around 65°C. Same BIOS revisions (both 3.2 and 3.8).

Also, when running 3.8, I cannot get the system to POST with any RAM frequency above 2133MHz, with or without XMP. I never had this issue when running BIOS 3.2 (which I had to downgrade to, thank goodness for BIOS flashback).

Steps to Reproduce Open NETFLIX UWP ,watch Video(''attack on titan'') for a few minutes(on my end its usually less than 20mins) to wait crash to happen.

I plan on upgrading my gpu and am wondering if I should go with 3080 or 6900xt. I was really originally gonna go with the 3080 ti because I don't feel that 10 gb of vram is enough but that was delayed indefinitely. I will do some raytracing though. I've also had lots of problems with amd drivers and software and Nvidia software offerings sound so much better. Should I just wait? I should probably mention that my gpu is probably gonna die in the next few months.

If you're after raytracing, you're better off with NVIDIA because Ampere is the clear winner as far as raytracing performance, whereas with normal rasterisation performance it's really just dependent on what's available and more affordable for you that matters.

People are also making too much of a big deal over VRAM capacity -- 8GB is literally more than enough for most games at 4K resolution. There aren't many games that need more than that, and even then, most games won't run very well on most GPUs at 4K anyway at settings that's using that much VRAM to begin with.

Pretty much the only reason AMD has all of their RDNA2 cards offer 16GB is to attract buyers, whether that be miners, or users that THINK they need that much VRAM when in reality they don't. The miners do, but gamers really don't.

so, i have a ryzen 5 3600 paired with a noctua NH-D9L, and on games like Modern Warfare and Cold War i was previously getting 70-80 degrees, red dead around 75-83, and games like valorant and rocket league 60-75. recently, it's spiked to high eightys/mid nineties (in cod/red dead, val and rocket have stayed the same) and i have no clue why. any helo would be appreciated my specs are

This might be a retarded question but I was just unboxing my 6900xt reference that arrived. At the back of the card, the GPU die is little exposed (like the square area that many cards have exposed). I might have accidentally touched the part when I took the GPU out. Can it be bad? It doesn’t visually look damaged or anything. Rest of my computer arrive next week so I can install then

My 5900X has suddenly started running 10°C hotter than previously. This morning it was 41°C on idle and 70-71°C in Warzone, now it is constantly at 50-51°C in idle and goes as far as 81°C in Warzone. I have done nothing between this morning and this evening. I just installed new GPU drivers (461.40) and launched MSI DC to redo my RGB on ram and GPU. Has someone an idea what could cause this? I don't have programs running in the background that would cause hugh CPU usage.

EDIT: for those it might help: this piece of ... Dragon Center messed my case fans. They ran at 200rpm instead of 600rpm and never really ramped up. I uninstalled DC and everything works fine.

I have a 5900x and Asus x570 impact mainboard. Everything works fine with pbo etc. No crashes.

But I’m getting 0% EDC usage in ryzen master.

And hwinfo doesn’t lists it. No CPU EDC limit shown. But there ist TDC and PPT Limit.

That's really weird. Sounds like a bug either with BIOS or Chipset driver. Update the chipset driver in OS, load optimised defaults in BIOS, and maybe update BIOS.

Anyone know why Radeon software only reports 1333MHz (2666) on my 4650g iGPU ? The system memory is running 3200MHz

I've had plenty of issues with my 5700XT at the drivers in the past, but not with League of Legends until the latest AMD driver patch 21.2.1. In the middle of my games, my entire PC would randomly freeze for at least a good 5 seconds, then turn black for a few seconds, and then AMD bug report pops out. Sometimes I will get beeped by AMD.

5900x owners. What kind of CPU score are you seeing in Time Spy Dx12? At around stock and maybe with light PBO usage?

I'm getting between 13300-13500. This seems a little low as I've had people with their 10850k@5Ghz-ish all-core tell me they are getting scores of 15000+

I took a look at my BIOS and it was indicating that my CPU Target Frequency was at 4050MHz.
My processor is a Ryzen 7 3700x which has 3.6 GHz / 4.4 GHz.
I also noticed my Ratio being at 40.5.

I am a newbie when it comes to this stuff and in general don't touch anything in bios, except setting my RAM to the correct speed.

Are those numbers fine or is my CPU being pushed above it's base clock for no reason?

What should be the target Frequency? the base speed of 3600MHz, the max speed of 4400MHz or somewhere in between(4050MhZ)?

My gut is telling me to change the ration from 40.50 to 36, but I'm worried I'll be making my CPU underperform(also worried that I know nothing about what I'm changing). My goal is to pretty much keep everything stock and get the most performance out of it (I'm a game

Hi my friend I just built his pc with ryzen 5 3500x and 1650 super. the thing is that he is giving blue screens, does anyone have any idea why? It has all the updated drivers although the processor does not exist. Blue Screenshots stop when you put the high-performance pc into power mode. but in normal mode it happens

What do his CPU temperatures look like in high-performance mode? CPU cooler might not be seated. What's the error code?

Just checking with anyone who has the same Mobo. I've had the same issue twice now on my Asrock X570 Phantom Gaming 4, has the Lan port on but doesn't turn on at all when pressing the power on button. No fans, no beep codes, no chipset fan, nothing.

The first time it happened was on the day I first got it and my 3600x, I thought I killed my 3600x, and I tossed the X570 PG4 back in its box for a few months while I used an MSI B450 Tomahawk.

I decided once I got my 5800x that I would try to revive the X570 PG4 as it had a bios that supported the Zen 3 processor, and to my surprise it posted and I was able to update the bios. Since then I had no issues with the board, no random shut downs or crashes out of the ordinary. But it happened for a 2nd time.

I have a replacement X570 PG4 on the way, but in folk's opinion is the above behavior normal for the X570 PG4? I know people have had mixed experiences with the X570 PG4, but I am holding out hope that maybe the 3.60 bios is unstable and I can revive my current board in 2 months.

Lastly, what do people think is the problem? With the problem clearing itself the first time with just waiting, I'm inclined to think its a capacitor issue, with one of the power modules in an unknown state that makes it so that the board doesn't turn on.

Is it a problem with the X570 PG4 VRM / Power delivery? Should I expect my replacement board to have the same issue?

Summary of Issue: Yesterday, out of nowhere, I just got Bluescreen, today I had it again, second time in a few good years. Last thing I've changed was update BIOS about month ago. Error code in display reliability history was:"The computer has rebooted after error detection. Google says nothing about that. After second restard my USB seemed not working, my mouse and keyboard weren't working, I must restart my PC again. You think it have something to do with that USB problems I've read on this subreddit or my CPU degrades?

USB problems were related to PCI-e 4.0 being enabled, but your motherboard doesn't even support it.

What other information can you find on that BSOD? What was the STOP code?

having issues with my 5800x. had some blue screens. did the windows repair, still crashed, checked temps n idle 50ish Celsius. change the cooler n whilst the crashing stopped the temps are still shocking. example being before on overwatch temps might have in some instances made it to 65ish celsius max n now just opening overwatch puts temps anywhere between 68-70 without even going into a game (note- im taking these temp readings from ryzen master n hwmonitor. both state the same temps)

Temps are fine, what do you expect? 8 CORES to run at 10°c max?

As long as your temps are 90°c or below everything is fine, if you're using the Boxed Cooler.

Third Party coolers usually hover between 50-85°c, that is in both idle and full load.

This isn't 10 year old hardware, this is all new and it works differently in terms of temperature.

After building my new build. I can not get into bios. It goes just straight into windows (No MB logo or windows loading). Can not go to bios trough windows recovery nor pressing keys by startup. The monitor just displays ''No signal'' The keyboard and mouse lights are on.

Hi, I just finished a 5900x build, and it seems like my clock boost is stuck. It is always hovering around 4950mhz no matter what I'm doing. I tried re-installing Windows and all the drivers, and the problem seems to begin after I install the AMD chipset driver from the MSI mobo support page. Prior to installing, I can see my CPU moving between 3600-4950 depending on load. What should I do about this? My temps jump between 33c and 60c while I'm just doing routine desktop stuff. Thanks

High temps on ryzen are normal.

You could download the chipset drivers directly from amd website which are usually more up to date and less gongshow.

It's normal since Zen2. It's just the way these chips work.

So I'm having a bit of an issue with my Ryzen 9 5900x. It won't pull full wattage when I turn on PBO. I have increased every power limit I can find and still can't get it to pull more than 140W under full load. This limits me to around 4.3GHz all core frequencies which is terrible for this chip with PBO enabled and a custom curve set like I have done. My PPT is set to 180.

If I run fewer threads in cinebench the power consumption will increase (it is around 155W when I run 16 threads) and the frequencies go up. I want more power draw and higher frequencies at full load. I can get the chip to pull 190W if I use the MSI "game boost" in my motherboard BIOS, but that disables PBO and I get worse frequencies. Not sure if this is the chip or the board that is causing this. Everything I see online shows this chip pulling 180+ watts on PBO and getting MUCH higher R20 scores than I can get. My max is about 8400 R20.

What is your stock multi and single core scores? I would expect multi to be around 8000.

Your pbo score kinda lines up with what I have seen from multiple reviews (8400-8550). Keep in mind the motherboard used also plays a role in this, windows version, other shovelware installed... You do know reviewers use a stripped down version of windows to achieve the top scores right?

You will have to learn to OC better to get near 9000, but your pbo score is fine as well as the 4.3ghz boost, hope you weren't expecting all core to boost as high as single core?

There's a sweet spot for PBO2 that you need to find. Only then will you find the actual limit of your CPU bin.

I'm a noob when it comes to radeon cards and LG OLEDS, however as I understand it they aren't a good match?

Managed to get a 6800XT and loving it, running it with a standard 4k 60hz tv at the moment but want to get the LG cx oled 120hz freesync tv.

As far as I can tell from reading on forums it's not a good match, freesync doesn't work 120hz doesn't work, not sure what's true..

Freesync problems are real. I wouldn't rely on freesync. AMD needs to sort themselves out with that.

I would wait to see if next years model is better at reducing blur and rock a 1440p 165hz monitor instead. This coming from a guy who has every model lg oled 55 inch from 2016....

It is not like any gpu can drive 4k120hz yet anyways outside of maybe doom/csgo.

I have concerns regarding 5950x temp

Idle temp is around 35-40

If I'm using google tabs and youtube, it hovers around 40-45 (always spiking up around 50+ when you first open youtube/chrome then goes back down)

But if I'm playing BFV, this thing goes to upwards of 85c+, sometimes around at 90c.

I've also tested FO4 but it wasn't having a temp issue. Didnt really test a lot of games, since I have limited amount of games that pushes benchmark like BFV. But I heard COD Cold War also abuses the cpu temp as well.

Using h100i pro and I've already re-installed the cpu twice thinking it wasn't sit perfectly, replaced paste. Still the same result.

I just put a ryzen 5 3600 in my pc, everything ran prefect until i swapped cases, i have a cooling fan that has the green, yellow and red lights to show how the cpu is running and after i swapped cases it always runs on yellow. My temp always stays in about the 70-70° range when gaming though so idk if that's a problem. I only play modern warfare and warzone. Now i swapped cases like 2 days ago and since then I've been getting a skipped frames notification in my streamlabs which is tied into high cpu usage, i went into my task manager today and while in game without my stream running and only my game open i was running at about 70% cpu usage. does that seem high to anyone? WHAT AM4 CPU TO UPGRADE TO FOR CSGO?

Last year I updated my PC and saw almost no improvement in FPS in CSGO, other games like rust improved dramatically however. Im suspecting it's the CPU bottlenecking me even though on paper it's far more capable. Any recommendations on a better CPU to suit the AM4 socket with the same chipset as that supports the 3500x? I really want to invest in a 240hz monitor but barely see 200fps on lowest settings, whereas my friends with 10 year old i7 6700k manage 300+ with ease.

Is it possible to clone the videosignal from the displayport output to another output in the driver settings?

I know that its possible to clone the videosignals in the nvidia driver but I havent found the option in the AMD driver yet.

I ask this question because the capture card got only a hdmi passthrough and because of that I would loose some HZ. As I know HDMI only supports maximal 120hz and Displayport supports up to 240hz.

I have a problem with my new 6800xt. I play my game mostly at 140 fps and there are no problem for hours. But sometimes for no reason the game is capped at 60 fps. If I go back on windows and after come back to my game, it shows 140 fps for 2-3 seconds and after it go down to 60 fps and stay there. The only thing to fix this is to restart the pc.

What can I do to fix this permanently?

New information, when I take off my second monitor that are a 60hz display and reconnect it, my game go back to 140+ hz. But I don't know how fix this in proper way

I'm not sure if this is normal or not, so I'll ask here. So I checked in HWInfo64 and it's reporting voltage at around 1.4V at idle on a Ryzen 5 3600XT. That's what it reports under the SV12_TFN sensor, and the same thing is reported under the core voltages. I haven't overclocked or changed any voltage settings, so is this normal? btw i'm not having any thermal issues, i'm idling at about 31C and under load i see it get up to maybe 55-60

Probably a bad reading, as I very much doubt you'd be idling at 31C if it was really using 1.4V. As long as the temps are good it's fine.

Can't change any setting in Wattman (settings won't apply and they return to default values), most importantly the fan control is non existent, which I really need. Afterburner overclocking works but I can't do anything with the fan.

GPU-Z screenshot (what I'm worried about is that HP (vendor) modded the bios to block any kind of changes).
Also, could I safely return it to the stock RX 5700 XT BIOS or could have HP made some changes to block BIOS changes? I don't wanna ruin the card but I'm afraid the temps will ruin her in the long run. 80° C when gaming something light and the fan is sitting at 23% and ramps up to 30-40% once it passes 80°C to stay at that temperature.

Technically no but a decent even $40 air cooler will most likely knock 10-15c off those temps which means your chip will boost higher.

Issue :

If so much stuff is going around like I open cs:go and open a stream my cursor stutters and my headset gives a static noise for a few milliseconds. CPU and GPU temps are below 70. I don't really know if this is because of the gpu but it seems like it is. Or it might be a driver issue i am not sure. Thanks

It's normal.

Ryzen will use higher voltage and boost higher in light loads, even the slightest load from the OS will trigger a boost. It's safe because the Silicon Fitness will not allow unsafe voltage (based on the current flow)

Pro tip. Get rid of dragon center lol.

How "safe" is Ryzen Master's Auto OC feature to keep on at all times? Turning it on gives me about 300 extra points (about 2fps) more in the CPU test, but when reading the documentation:

Auto Overclocking: By Default values for CPU - Boost Override CPU, PPT, TDC and EDC will be set to maximum the motherboard BIOS allows for CPU. By Default values for APU Boost Override CPU, Boost Override APU GFX, PPT, TDC(CPU), EDC(CPU), TDC(SOC) and EDC(SOC) will be set to maximum the motherboard BIOS allows for APU s. User cannot change any values in this mode.

This does not actually sound like a very healthy thing to keep enabled by default. The temperature never went above 70 degrees so far though.

It's fine. No matter how high you raise the power limits (PPT, TDC, EDC), you'll always be held back by either the motherboard VRM, the silicon fitness, or both.

The Silicon Fitness AKA FIT protects the CPU from going too far with voltage and clocks so it doesn't cause damage to itself, so raising power limits could do literally nothing if the FIT were to already be limiting it, and the FIT will not allow what isn't safe, all Auto OC does is raise the power limits from the defaults for your motherboard based on what AMD has set, and by default on boards rated for ~65W CPUs, the limits are very low, so that's why you got a gain just from turning on Auto OC mode.

It raises power limits in the hopes that you can get up to a +200 MHz boost clock, but getting that is only on a single core and depends on the load, temperature, and FIT. Assuming your motherboard can handle it, which most of the cheapest B-series chipset motherboards don't.

You may get 5FPS extra and that's really not enough for such an investment. It is completely useless to change that processor for 3600X. 3400G is enough for you to play online games and 3600x will not bring you any significant benefit. If you do not want to buy 3080 or 6800XT then this upgrade is unnecessary.

I was just installing different fans on my AIO cooler that I got to pair with my 5800x. This is with my X470-F motherboard. I downloaded the latest bios and installed the AMD chipset as well. The specs on Ryzen Master look like it's incredibly underperforming. Here is what Ryzen Master is showing when I am doing the multicore test on Cinebench 23...

I have got a Ryzen 5800x. I have noticed since getting this cpu, when playing warzone if I open the map, sometimes I end up dropping frames to 10/15fps and I get 500+ latency (which I find strange).

I have just opened streamlabs, which should be a doddle with this CPU and if I do not have performance mode enabled the menu FPS dropped to 5. I am not sure if these are CPU related but it is the only thing I have changed.

I just installed a 5600x into my machine (same cooler and all other components unchanged), replacing my 2600x.

I saw my FPS DOUBLE in WoW and triple in LoL (only games I've tested thus far).

No benchmarks I've seen have shown that kind of performance boost. Did I have a bad 2600x? Is this normal? Needless to say I'm absolutely thrilled.

Since the day I bought my very first PC rig I had a pretty annoying issue while running certain games: my screen would suddenly turn completely green and my pc would reboot itself, following a high pitched vent sound.

I've always ignored the issue because it was pretty rare and I thought it was related to overheating. Recently though I really can't stand it especially while playing online.

Do you guys have experienced this problem? Is there any fix or should I contact the tech support of the company that sold me the rig? Let me just add that the last time I contacted them they only made me reinstall windows 10 from scratch and that didn't solve the problem at all.

Have you checked your temperatures? Maybe your CPU/GPU are overheating, so in order to avoid damage they shut off. Try to monitor the temperatures while gaming and see if they reach more than 85 - 90 Celsius (or the equivalent in Fahrenheit)

can you please provide details about how to repro (eg. what game(s) affected, how long you play, modes if applicable, settings, etc)? did you try clean installing the driver?

Hey there i need ur help guys, i have a new pc build with asus tuf gaming b550 plus motherboard and ryzen 5 5600x cpu, everything was running fine until today while playing my screen just went black and couldnt do anything about it, pc was still running, fans were spinning and everything, so i thought it might need an flashback bios update, went to the asus support downloaded the latest bios update formated my usb into fet32 and did not forget to rename it with biosreader, turned of my pc disconnectdd everything put bios usb stick into bios usb slot held the button for 3 secs and it went flashing, i was like yes perfect its gonna work, after aproximately 5 minutes it stopped flashing so i believe it was done, plug out the flash stick connected everything into my pc and tried to start my pc... but my pc still didnt load still no display only my case was running... can u please help me out give me any tips what to do? And is it possible if u do the bios flashback wrong that ur motherboard could broke ? Thank u guys all for any kind of help

Summary of issue:
When I boot up Windows, I see my LG HDR 4K turn on first, with the Windows 10 splash screen, then it detects my new Asus VG27A and sends a signal to it but the LG HDR 4K monitor goes off. I am unable to see the splash/login screen on the 2nd monitor. At this point, I have to switch inputs on the LG to something else and back to DisplayPort to get both monitors to come back on. In the meantime, I've blindly typed in my Windows login pin to at least get to my desktop. What am I doing wrong?

Zen 3 officially support up to 3600 Mhz RAM.

Zen 2/3 architecture runs infinity fabric at half of RAM speed usually. you will gain a bit of performance if you get faster ram, up to 3600 MHz.

Hey all, first time builder here.

I was wondering if the pre applied thermal paste that comes with the cooler is good enough for light gaming.

Also my kid brother picked up the cooler and the paste got removed a little about the size of half a rice grain... Would that be an issue? Should I spend more for better thermal paste? I didn't get one already because I was already pushing my budget.

It's fine to use. The pressure applied by the cooler will spread out the paste onto the CPU. Don't worry about it.

If 5 to 10 bux for paste ruins your budget you shouldn't be buying a computer.

Replace the stock paste before it hardens at least? I am sure in a year you can come up with 10 bucks.

Grain of rice is bad application. Use more and spread it out. The stock paste will eventually harden and "weld" your cpu to the cooler faster than quality pastes will....Could cause bent pins in the future especially if you have to remove cooler and don't warm it up.

ryzen 5 5600x is currently on 4.7ghz at 1.275 and its all good very stable but i literally cannot get to 4.8 or above no matter how high the voltage the most ive set it to was 1.35 and it will still crash in asus realbench at the very start of the stress test did i lose the silicon lottery or is there some annoying setting somewhere in the bios limiting me?

Probably silicon lottery, you've reached your chip's limit.

Also, anything above what your 5600X's FIT allows in high current will be lethal to the silicon, so manual OC on 7nm chips like Ryzen 3000 and 5000 should be done with extreme caution. FIT voltages are unique to the chip; one 5600X may allow 1.29v for example at high current, while another may only allow 1.24v. 1.35v is definitely going to damage the majority of chips.

When you manually OC, you disable the FIT, so it can't prevent damage to the chip. So I hope you've monitored what voltages your 5600X was doing in high current all-core loads, or you could very likely be damaging the silicon, which means you won't get the clocks you're getting right now a couple of months down the line with the voltage you're using right now.

Hey guys so I have a 5900x paired w a MSI Tomahawk x570. When I am playing games I am constantly getting random BSOD. I was hoping that someone else has possible had the same problem and was able to find a solution.

Kernel Power error 41 is just a code for when the system loses power unexpectedly, that's not a BSOD code.

You need the STOP code from when the system actually blue screens, because error 41 can be caused by something as simple as flipping the power switch on the PSU.

There is no "Streaming" tab in my Radeon Software. I have tried the Hyper-V thing using PowerShell (There is no Hyper-V in the windows feature before or after the PowerShell thing so I tried rhe Powershell and it said that I successfully disabled Hyper-V but still no streaming tab after restart)

I've had a 5900x in my desktop since December. In that time I've had 6-7 occurences of booting my computer to be shown a screen telling me that I've either replaced my CPU or the fTPM is corrupt or invalid. It tells me the options are to press N to temporarily disable the TPM and get the prompt again at next boot or press Y to reformat the TPM. The only thing I use the TPM for is Windows disk encryption via bitlocker. This results in having to enter my long bitlocker key at the next Windows boot.

Is anyone else encountering this issue on Ryzen 5000? Previously I had a 3900x (which is now in my server) and never had this issue.

While I don't know your setup, and your need for a TPM, I found my TPM was redundant once I started to use the latest Zen processors, because they have tpm capability in the processor (ftpm, firmware tpm). You might be seeing clashes.

I have a very strange Issue with these specs:

My CPU is throttling to 1.3 GHZ when reaching around 57-60° without increasing my CPU-Fan-Speed.

I set the Motherboard-Fan-Control in BIOS-Settings to Performance. This doesn't change anything.

Windows-Energy-Settings => High Performance is causing an extreme drop. When setting this to Default, the Drop isn't as hard, but still the throttle proceeds but a bit slower with 3.5GHZ => 2.9 GH 1.7 GHZ => 1.3 GHZ.

I set a Stress-Test on it to prove that there indeed is something wrong.

I'm using Radeon-Software as my GPU driver. Might be possible, that this didn't install proper drivers for my CPU? I have no clue.

Background: What Makes Up A VRM?

One, or several, of these components heat up and then the BIOS throttles the power input and output, so less heat on the VRM components, for the CPU therefore CPU runs at lower frequency.

What can be done? HWiNFO64 might have a Motherboard VRM sensor which could give you an idea at which temperature it throttles. Top blow CPU cooler, if its a tower CPU cooler, or an additional case fan next to the VRM for more cooling.

CPU undervolting or CPU frequency reduction with less VCore is worth a try as well. Small costum heatsinks for the MOSFET's could be an option, but that is within the modding realm and unfortunatly no experience with it.

Description of Original Problem: I had StoreMi 2.0 active and merged 2 drives. And then I had to reinstall windows etc and forgot to unmerge and uninstall. Troubleshooting: Now if I install StoreMi it doesn't detect the drive due to configuration and the pc believes it's already merged. So there's no way to unmerge it or anything.

Can anyone help me so i can reuse the storemi application on the new windows installed system?

I just migrated back to ITX and got a B550i (from Gigabyte) for the eventual 5600 upgrade, but meanwhile, all I have is my trusty 1600.

Currently the system is not posting at all, I'm gonna double check the connections, but I think everything's alright. Either way, does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix this? I'm not really aware of any BIOS updates and all that. (I should be able to boot into the BIOS to flash it anyway, no? I flashed version V1.0.8.1 of AGESA (F10 BIOS for this specific model) and I got it to post!

so i recently got a second hand rx 570 and i cant get it to display on my monitors at all. i've tried ddu since i switched from a gtx 570 but it just doesnt wanna display. after i do ddu i then install the amd gpu into the pc.. nothing happens, then i put the gtx 570 in again and it works fine. i tried all the different outputs the gpu has on 2 different monitors and it doesnt work. starting to think i might of got a dead gpu but the rgb and fans do work.

It sounds like it could be a dead card, you're probably correct, since when you put your old GPU in, it works fine.

It was probably used for mining and got damaged over time by the stress, a common issue that miners face, and the RX 570 was the most common GPU used for mining in the past because of the 8GB model and low price.

I have a cpu that when I push the cpu latch down the computer loses all power and shows no signs of power at all but when I have the cpu latch up and not locked in the pc has power. I’ve tried different motherboards, power supplies basically everything that I could possibly swap out and it’s definitely the cpu. Is there a possible way to fix this? Quick question:

My r7 3800x booted 'slow', with 3 cores running at 530mhz. A reboot fixed the issue. Found an old thread here where it said switching the power plan back and forth may also fix this. Anyone know if there's an underlying issue? Aka should I RMA my 2 months old cpu, or is this something that's no real cause for concern?

Extra details:

This happened after I replaced one of the case fans that was a bit noisy. System was powered down and unplugged from the wall at the time.

No overclocking, my cpu temp is under 75c at full tilt due to a darkrock pro 4, rest of the system is pretty standard and I doubt it has anything to do with this issue. Event viewer reported the following under 'information' event id 55 :

Like I have a Windows 10 VM running on a Linux host and the VM can access the external pcie graphics card natively.

Amd calls this for something else like AMD-VI. Can it do it?

When streaming on discord or using OBS I experience audio stuttering, ICUE lighting was failing and my audio stuttered constantly. All of these work through USB.

For streaming I'm using nvenc so I'm using my gpu for that (which is on pcie 4.0) I'm assuming this is due to the USB issues on my b550 but thats the only time it gets really bad. Switching to pcie 3 fixed the problem entirely. Can replicate it as well.

My Sapphire Nitro RX 470 isn't being detected when it's not in quiet mode. Also, when using it with games like cities skyline, or games with heavy graphics, the screen turns green after 3 minutes of play, then the whole system crashes. Any solution? Am using an ASUS h81m-d motherboard 16GB RAM (hyperX) Screen is either an LG or a skyworth 50in need help here.

I've recently upgraded to 6800XT from 5700, my fps in warzone (1440p) at low settings usually stays between 130-150, mostly on 130s. I tried switching to max settings in warzone (1440p) and my fps also stays between 130-150. Should I not be getting more fps at lower settings?

You could be experiencing bottleneck if I’m not certain though, also you can make sure that all your core clocks and you ram are running as high as they should some times out of the factory they will be set lower for stability purposes.

Summary of Issue

I recently got a 5600x and was curious what the turbo all core speed is for yall. In gaming my 5600x never goes above 4199 MHz, and I mean never. I figured something was limiting it but my package temp stays under 70c. I figured it was just the silicon but now noticing just browsing the web it also stays at 4199 literally its min max and value are 4199 under HWmonitor. Doesn't go down or up; I'm using an ASUS B550 -F motherboard is there a BIOS setting I can configure? My settings are stock other than XMP

Can I change the chipset voltage to get lower chipset temperatures?

My CPU is running hot too. At idle its 50 degrees. Im pretty sure it should be lower. I have pretty much the same hardware as you. Have not found an answer yet either. My only thought is that the stock frequency of the processor is 3700 mhs and mine fluctuates between 4700 - 4900 mhs. May be in boost mode. Could be that you have the same thing. Good luck

I'm using a Gigabyte B450m aorus elite board. Previously I used a 2400G and when I used usbtreeview to look at my usb ports, I saw a number of USB 3.1 extensible host controllers.

Today I switched to a ryzen 2600, and in the same usbtreeview screen, I notived all of them changed to just 2 - a USB 3.1 extensible host controller, and a USB 3.0 extensible host controller.

On the previous chip, I had a usb superspeed ssd that would always connect to the 3.1 version, but now it only goes to the 3.0 xtensible controller. In addition, one port always shows an exclamation mark and is constantly in a "device is enumerating" state - port 5 in the picture. This did not happen before.

Does anyone know if something is wrong?

Ryzen 5 1600 with stock coolers, stock BIOS settings reaches very high temperatures, even after repaste I'm getting close to 90°C with AIDA64 on Ryzen 5 1600, I repasted the cooler once and temperatures didn't change much, while other people get 70°C in the same stress test with the same cooler and 3.7GHz overclock applied...

How many fans do you have in your case? (Is there efficient airflow? CPU could just be choking if there's not enough airflow into and out of the case)

I just received my 5600X and I am tring some basic overclocking settings, but afterall I am not able to push the CPU beiond 4.75GHz with stable results. By the way I don't have a real goal in mind, I just want to use the 100% of my CPU without risking to damage it. At the momnent my build is as follow (keep in mind the GPU is not what I would like to have but I got an RX580 till I will succede to get a 6800XT):

In the BIOS I have done the following change:

Under DIGI+VRAM

- VDDCR CPU Load Line Calibration - Level 3

- VDDCR CPU Current Capability - 120%

With this settings and using HWiNFO64 for monitoring the CPU package gets around 30-40 Celsius degrees on idle/light use, while in full load on the stability test (30 minutes) of Cinebench R23 it gets 70/75 Celsius degree (20 Celsius degrees ambient temperature). I have tried to rise the CPU voltage till 1.3500 but it seems I can't even get 4.775GHz without crashing during the Cinebench R23 stability test. At the moment I am able to get on C23 a score of 12131 for the multi core and  1563 for single core test.

What else should I triy? How far can I go without the risk to fry/degradete the CPU over the next months?

Hello, i am using Trixx v 8.0 and i want to change the led lights of my sapphire nitro + cards.I have several cards and want to change the color of the led on each of them.The problem is that i can only change the color of one card, i see no option to switch to different cards in trixx. Am i missing something?Is there a way to do this?Or is there another software i can use ?

Is anyone experiencing erratic behaviour on their 5000 series cpu's.

From idle, if i move the mouse to open anything, even a folder, the system ramps up the fans, the half a minute later they show down. New system install with hardly anything running in the background Steam, GoG galaxy, Discord).

System:

MSI b550m mag wifi 5600x 32gb ram xmp profile 1 @3600Mhz 500gb nvme pcie gen 3 Nvidia rtx 3060ti Tower cooler, Thermalright True Black 120. Cpu never goes over 62 deg c Curve optimizer - 15 (but same behaviour on - 20). Not stable on - 25 or - 30.

If I don't solve this over the weekend, it is getting RMA'd....far too many troubleshooting so far, including the usb connection dropping which I solved by setting pcie gen 3.

It's normal because of how Ryzen 3000 and 5000 CPUs work.

They will boost when there is any sort of load on the CPU to get the work done faster, and then downclock when there's nothing going on, causing fluctuations in temperature and fan speed.

Ryzen 5000 in particular runs toastier out of the box so there's not much that can be done except getting better or quieter cooling. Lowering fan speed limit won't really help much because the CPU will just get hotter sooner and won't boost as high, resulting in potential performance loss.

CPU cooler recommendations for the 5800x?

I have a Noctua NH-D14. It's served me well and cools this chip well in gaming and desktop, however when Folding@Home it regularly bounces off the 90C limiter, while not the end of the world. It's dropping my performance and would prefer to stay just under if possible.

Any upgrade ideas?

Ryzen 5000 needs rather expensive cooling because AMD raised the bar with the limits for these CPUs. They boost more heavily, for longer durations, and as a result will push most cooling solutions to the limit.

If you can afford it, run a custom loop. Otherwise, the biggest air or all-in-one liquid cooler your case supports is as good as you're going to get without undervolting your CPU.

Steps to reproduce:

1 Problem accurs randomly, it could happen early into the stream. like 2 mins, or 40 mins or 3 hours in.

Getting crash when streaming Cyberpunk on discord with RX 6800. I disabled all overlays, discord and AMD's overlays. I reinstalled drivers and everything, and I even tested other games streaming through Discord and no crash. I got a wattman notification only once, but nothing else. Anyone else have any tips?

So I've got a pretty meh XFX RX570 8GB and I'm recording gameplay using the radeon software thing and it's at a pretty high bit-rate, something like 4gb for 15 minutes of video, on task manager gpu video encode sits at 75% usage when on desktop

Would game performance be effected by me using such a high bit rate or do games not use video encode

I'm getting a weird, specific problem, I use foobar2000 to create a quick overlay to tell me what song is playing when I switch songs, every time I do it, League of Legends freezes for a split second, it's SUUUUPER annoying and I'm not sure what I should do to try to fix it, the only solution is to stop the overlay but I'd really prefer it stay on. There was a previous driver I had that didn't ever have this problem, but I unfortunately can't remember which one it was, but it would've been about 8-12 months ago.

I'm using an RX5700XT on the latest drivers, Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, ASUS X570 mobo, and three screens - GL850 @ 144hz/display port, ASUS VS247 @ 60Hz/display port and a BenQ GL2460 @ 60Hz/DVI-D -> displayport adapter. Windows 10 x64 latest 2004 updates also. I have a video here that shows what I'm talking about, noting the FPS at the top right and the overlay at the top in the middle of my screen, it dips down to ~129 frames for a sec.

There's also another issue where if my PC is booted for more than a few hours, I cannot get the AMD Radeon Software open. I right click my desktop and try to open it, I get a loading cursor, and then nothing happens.

Anyone know where I can start to diagnose these issues?

Depends on the situation. If FreeSync fails to stop screen tearing, then you're going to want to use V-Sync.

So my specs are;

GPU: 1660 SUPER

I'm getting on average fps < 200 on CS;GO Dust 2. I've seen a video on youtube where the guy with same GPU, RAM and ryzen 5 3600 is consistently getting > 300 FPS. The current perfromance is actually on par with what I previously had; i5 3570k and DDR3 8GB @ 1600MHz. I have power settings on maximal performance, and I set my nvidia settings to prefer performance over quality. I'm begging to regret this "upgrade".

I check my task manager whilst playing and this is what i see;

I also attached the FPS that I get in intense moments. It does get to 400FPS for one millisecond...

My PC will sometimes start to freeze up whenever I launch a game. This happens on ANY game. I've never been able to figure out why this has been happening though. I have had my PC for a little over a month now. Here are the specs of my PC:

Mobo: Asus ROG STRIX B450-F

I have not overclocked my graphics card. It always will happen when starting up a game, not already in one. It will always start to freeze when it says that it is optimizing items in the corner. What happens when it freezes is that I can't interact with any application windows at first. Then, I can't click on anything in the task bar. It slowly starts to freeze up more and more. Pressing my power button doesn't even shut down the PC, so I have to kill the power to it to shut it off.

Hello. This is my first time using reddit to make a question. I usually google all things or look things up here in reddit but I haven't found any answers to my questions. The thing is I have a laptop with a Ryzen 4700u APU using two sticks of 8GB DDR4 RAM 3200 MHz CL22 1.2v so no XMP mode or whatever (I guess).

Since the integrated graphics use the ram as Vram I thought the memory speed for the GPU would be 1600 MHz but it is not. It only report 1333 MHz (all apps show the same info including the AMD Radeon Utility Software)

I thought maybe the ram are not running at full speed but they are (checked using HWinfo64, CPU-Z and windows 10 task Manager confirms my ram are 3200 MHz). So I am wondering if this GPU max out at 1333 MHz for Vram or is there anything limiting the speed of the ram that the GPU can use ? Hope you can help me out. Thanks for reading all these

I've recently just gone from an MSI 970 Gaming motherboard & FX 8320 cpu to a Rog Strix B550 motherboard & Ryzen 5600X cpu. Been reading up and seems to be pretty split opinions on whether or not I should do a fresh install so old drivers aren't lingering around causing screwups.

Is the old drivers still being around going to cause a problem/drop in performance at all since I've gone from an am3+ chip to an AM4 one? Or will I be fine without doing a fresh windows install?

Not exactly an issue but is it normal to be gaming at 75-85c on a 5800x with a Noctua D15s cooler? It instantly goes to mid 80s on cinebench r23 start and climbs to 90. I have Curve Optimiser set to -20 all cores. Are there gonna be some issues down the road?

This is my first AMD system, I have always used intel in the past.

New build is:

5950x (360 aio)

Crosshair hero 8 (wifi), I have disables all nics and wifi in the bios and put in x520 10GB sfp+ nic

64GB 3600 cl 18

3090 FE

The system can pass stress tests and complete benchmarks, when I try to game COD cold war online and Mafia 3 the game will only work for a little and crash out with multiple different errors.

The settings that I have changed on the system as a whole are

updated win 10, enabled pbo 2 with the curve and -10 offset for all cores, enabled xmp on the RAM, lowered the overclock on the 3090 to +150,+500. I can pass benchmarks with the card at +210 +800.

I did not have any of these issued on my old system x99 and this gpu.

I do have resize bar turned on in the bios should I turn that off?

I just got a red devil 6900xt from newegg. I ran a userbenchmark util to see my score and then flipped the bios switch for silent/OC but I get the same exact results. How do I know which one is overclocked? It isn't clearly labeled... doesn't seem to make any difference when I flip the switch one way or another.

Edit: I know userbenchmark sucks, but it's free and was an easy test to see if the switch made any difference and it didn't...

HP Reverb G2 Locked at 60hz.

Hello, I upgraded from a 2070super to a 6800xt last week. I use an HP Reverb g2 for vr gameing and I cant get the the headset to register more than 60hz. Its a 90hz headset.

IN WMR and Steam VR both setting are set at 90 but I'm locked at 60fps.

I noticed that the Advanced Display Settings tab shows that the "Desktop resolution" is lower than the "active resolution" and at 60hz.

On my 2070Super the resolutions were the same and showing 90hz.

I have 2 issues: 1- When i connect oculus quest 2 to pc via cable, my wireless keyboard and mouse (connected via dongles) begin to freeze and would not unfreeze until I disconnect the headset 2- on occasions, my usb peripherals disconnect for a sec or two then reconnect, i thought it was my mb, but seeing that there are isssues reported for 500 chipset I thought it might be amd related.

Hi there everyone! So im the recent owner of a 6900 XT (xfx merc) and i love the card, it looks great, its quiet and when it works its great. This is my first AMD card since a 7870 back when i first started gaming, in most games the card performs well. I've only had one crash due to a driver timeout, but in BF5 the game after around 40mins will simply crash to a black screen, taking the entire PC with it, as well as taking the display signal from my monitor (38GL950G-B) with it, audio also cuts out completely. So far i cant diagnose the problem at all, only seems to happen in BF5 too, nothing online really points to others having similar crashes to me. I also can't see how it would be a problem with any of my other hardware causing a conflict as i also have a 6800 that runs fine (for the most part, mainly driver timeout) i did notice in this thread that there was a known crash caused when gaming with enhanced sync, but under the general gaming preset that's disabled by default. So far this is a unique problem with BF5, other games such as cyberpunk and league of legends run fine. Just wondering if anyone else could send me some pointers, so far i have done the following:

Summary of Issue

My instant replay is not saving instant footage. It's saving old gameplay. For example, I pressed the hotkey now, and instead of saving the last 3 min of gameplay as it is set to do, it saved 3 mins of footage from some random match from earlier today. No clue why it is doing this, as I've not changed anything. For the record, I have desktop recording toggled on in the settings. Any advice?

The monitor becomes dim/dark until power cycled when you leave it idle for long enough that monitors turn off by itself to save power.

Any idea how to fix? Seems to be driver related and deep into it because the issue wasn't present year or two ago, so probably introduced when reworking some core features in driver.

After installing the latest Nvidia drivers (461.71) all my games started suffering signifcant FPS drops (144 to 30-40) with major stuttering.

I carried out all the troubleshooting out there, all the way down to a fresh install of Windows on a different SSD. The issue persisted, until I tried on the off chance something I read about disabling CPU0 in the affinity settings of task manager for the games exe file. This solved the problem.

I then ran some benchmarks on Cinebench for my CPU:

Single Core - 1130 Multi Core - 8632

These results are lower than expected. They should be ~1288 and ~9588.

Does this indicate an irreverisble issue with the CPU, or is there some sort of software issue I can try and rectify? I'm close to replacing the CPU as it might be cooked, but wanted to check in with the brains trust before making a purchase.

Hi all, hoping to get some help here as I'm not a computer expert (I bought my PC as a pre-built), but I've tried diligently to read through various PC forums to troubleshoot my issue. About once a week, I get a random reboot, or a BSOD (WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR). This has happened on light loads (just a few tabs of Chrome open) or on heavier loads (i.e., gaming + streaming). This can happen on just stock settings, though much less frequently as I've only gotten 1 BSOD in 2 weeks w/ stock settings. When I have XMP/DOCP enabled at 3600mhz or 3200mhz, it happens about once a week. Again, this can either be a BSOD or a random restart.

When I look in the Event Viewer log, the critical error is always a Event ID 41, source: Kernel-Power. Not sure why, but I don't seem to have a minidump folder in C:Windows even though I have the feature enabled.

I've read various threads of other users experiencing similar BSOD/restart issues with the Zen 3 CPU + various ASUS BIOSes, but it seems like their issues are more frequent (i.e., BSOD/random restart multiple times a day or within a few minutes of the computer starting up).

I have no issues with CPU or GPU temps. They are all in-line with expectations when idle and under load.

I'm less concerned about the XMP/DOCP overclock crashes and more concerned that I still get a BSOD/random at stock settings once every ~2 weeks.

I'm unable to reproduce the issue since it seems to happen randomly, but in terms of troubleshooting, I have made sure all drivers are up to date (chipset, Windows, BIOS). I have not run stress tests at stock settings, but I get no errors when I run many of the popular RAM stress tests, which makes me think/hope that it's just a BIOS issue:.

- Karhu RAM test for ~8 hours, no issues for both configs- Memtest86 for ~8 hours, no issues for both configs- OCCT CPU Large Data test with extreme option checked for ~1 hour, no issues for both configs- OCCT Memory test for ~1 hour, no issues for both configs- Prime95 test, large FFTs and small FFTs, a few hours for both configs and no issues- Cinebench23 and 3dmark all run without issues for both configs.

It seems weird to me that my PC can pass all of these stress tests, but still experience BSODs or random restarts about once per week.

I will note that my PC came with BIOS version 2812 (a beta version) installed. Before I updated the AMD chipset drivers and BIOS, I was getting random restarts and BSODs maybe once a day, or once every other day.

Things I have not tried yet:

-I have not tried touching any of the voltages or other settings in BIOS. (Honestly, not too knowledgeable about voltages.)-Swapping in other PC hardware; unfortunately, I don't have other PC parts onhand to swap in and out.

Any suggestions on what else I can try to fix this issue? Any ideas what might be causing my problem? I'm less concerned about the XMP/DOCP overclock crashes and more concerned that I still get a BSOD/random at stock settings once every ~2 weeks. Hi, im having overheating (Reaching 79-84°C degrees) problems with old games like Total war shogun 2 or Total war medieval 2, i cleaned the case and reapply the thermal paste like a month ago so i dont know whats going on, both games are really old to overheat my video card like that.

BTW i ended up deactivating hardware acceletarion on Chrom because for some reason whenever i browsed reddit or do something on youtube the core clock of the card will go up to 1040 MHz heating up the card too (This particular thing started to happen in december)

Have you looked at what the GPU utilization is while playing those games? Are those the same temperatures you get while playing newer games?

I wouldn't be too concerned about those temperatures if the GPU is at full utilization. I think the R9 390 can run fine up to 95C.

Hi! I just built a computer for my first time last night and I got the Ryzen 5 3600 and I'm using the stock cooler. I have no clue what temps are good/bad and on my old prebuilt system with a Ryzen 5 1400, I never checked the temps so I don't have any comparison. As of right now it's idling between 55-60C. I was running the benchmark test on AC Origins and it was averaging between 70-80C. I ran a Cinebench multi-core test and it stayed around 85C for a bit but then started climbing a lot near the end of the test, and it peaked at 92C at the end. I was using HWiNFO to monitor temps, and I have also installed Ryzen Master now to monitor as well.

I read that these temps(aside from the Cinebench one) are normal for a Ryzen 5 3600 with the stock cooler, is this true? Do I run into any harm with these temps? AC Origins is probably the most intensive game I will be playing, I mainly just play League of Legends and other games that aren't hard on the PC. I am planning on streaming League though if that changes much.

It highly depends on the airflow of your case and fan setup on Bios.

I have a 3600x with stock cooler, it was hitting 82°C on warzone, I installed two Corsair ML120 on the case, one on front top, pulling cold air to the heatsink and another on the back, pushing out hot air, and changed fan profile from Silent to Turbo on the Bios (TUF x570), now my temps on warzone average as 70°C with peaks at 75°C

Can anyone else confirm this?

MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC support page appears to be having issues with showing driver and BIOS update downloadables. This makes it impossible to update the motherboard drivers or BIOS.

I reset my system not to long ago and just now realized I didn't change my power plan. As someone with a Ryzen 5 2600x I was wondering which power plan I should use and if I need to update it if that's even possible. (I never did it oops)

Now I got a pretty decent pc imo and I'm not getting the fps that would be expected.

this is my system: CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 2600X OPERATING SYSTEM - Windows 10 home MOTHERBOARD - MSI X470 Gaming Plus GPU - MSI GeForce RTX 2060 GAMING Z 6G HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB, Seagate Barracuda 500GB CPU COOLER - Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB RAM - G.Skill Aegis F4-3000C16D-16GISB POWER SUPPLY - BitFenix Whisper BWG450M SSD - Intel 660p 1TB CASE - NZXT H500i MONITOR - Samsung LC24FG73 I've seen my fps hitting 200+ something before minions spawn and then dropping to 130 average when they do. Dropping to 78 or so in teamfights I'm pretty sure that isn't supposed to happen on a system as this. Does anyone know how to fix this I don't want to lower the in-game settings as a pc like this should definitely be able to run this no problem.

1- I messed with hipm settings (turn off and on)

2- I installed AMD sata controller and uninstalled.

3- I installed AMD Chipset drivers twice. Pc seems slower after doing that

When I open uncapped games (limit fps sometimes is enough or vsync) the screen started having sweeps (like in the video). I didnt have this problem before with this new monitor or the old one ( I played games uncapped or without vsync and this didn't happen, but now it's impossible).

I changed monitors (from a 720p to a 1080p) and at first I though it was the monitor (which worked fine until this suddenly popped up), but I tested on my old one and still happened, so I'm really lost there.

I also tried different versions of Adrenalin and formatting (twice) but it didn't fix

Open a game without VSync nor capped 60 fps (even like this, Genshin Impact still makes my screen sweep) , then go to another app (like discord or the game) and the sweep appears until I close said game.

And if I'm in a menu of the game or a loading screen it doesn't happen

What should I get for a ryzen 7 3700x: an Asus TUF Gaming A520M-Plus or Asus TUF B450M-Plus? What are the most meaningful differences? The A520 is about 20% cheaper where I live. I'm not interested in overclocking.

Long story short my GPU died around a year after I bought it (Sapphire Nitro Vega 64), it went to RMA, got fixed and sent back to me. Now another year later it died again... Is there an RMA limit before another solution can be considered??

I don't want to keep sending this thing back every year to RMA while I stay around a month without a GPU (I work in video and have deadlines). Due to Covid I am pretty sure it will take a lot longer than last time...

Or when this stuff happens it's normal to keep RMA'ing the same product a bunch of times? From a consumer perspective that doesn't sound right.

What's wrong: I just built a PC a few days ago and everything was going great. However, a couple days into use, while just browsing the web, the video cut out and all power to USB ports was lost (can't use mouse/keyboard, flash drives, etc., nor can I see anything on the screen). I have never intensively used the system outside of basic photo editing. The white 'VGA' light is also lit up on my motherboard.

What still works: All components still seem to be receiving power. The motherboards lights are still on, the lights on my RAM sticks are on, the light on my GPU is on, and all case fans light up and spin.

What I've tried with no solution: I have tried several things to troubleshoot:

So, I am honestly at a loss. At this point, I assume it has to either be a bad motherboard or processor. Does anyone have any insight? I have very little time or money to invest in all of this and my return period for most of the parts ends in a week.

Which mobo is better? Asus TUF b450-plus (full ATX ver) or Asrock B450M Pro4-F (micro-ATX ver) ? Imma be using a R7 3700x. b550 is x570 price where I live.

Broadly speaking they're pretty similar. The Asus board has a slightly better audio chipset on paper, and is a more premium brand so depending on your taste aesthetically will look a bit nicer.

If I were in your shoes I'd go for the cheaper option unless you've got a glass side panel and feel strongly about the looks.

Hey so I just build my first pc with a ryzen 7 5800x b550 aorus elite v2 motherboard.

I saw that it may need a bios update which I did but the bios still doesn’t appear or any other things that would indicate that the pc work correctly

On the other side all my fans are spinning and lightning, ram and vantirad work too and motherboard lights up as well

Summary of Issue: In full screen, my game does this weird color-twitching thing. If I alt-tab or turn my volume up/down on my headphones, it changes the colors of my game and makes it super bright/highly saturated for whatever reason. I’m not 100% sure what causes it.

I’m epileptic, so it basically forces me to play in windowed full screen, which works, but I’d rather play in full screen due to performance. I’ve tried un/reinstalling the software itself, the drivers, etc. everything is up to date.

Summary of Issue

ASRRGBLED Polychrome Sync software crashes before opening. Cannot control GPU RGB. RBG is on but cannot change it from "rainbow."

EDIT: I should also mention I've tried flashing my mobo to the application through administrative run command prompt and that didn't work.

About to upgrade my 3600 to a 5600x any tips on what I should be doing when upgrading? I’m using a B550 Tomahawk and am going to update the bios to the newest 7C91vA5 version. Should I also update the chipset drivers? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Chipset driver should always be up to date. Keep in mind, you need a pretty good cooler for Ryzen 5000 because it'll get real toasty in comparison.

GPU near idle on Minecraft

Dear AMD, (or anyone who may be able to help me) One of the games I play a decent amount is Minecraft on my PC and while I get good FPS generally, on some servers I get like 60fps which is very low considering it should be able to push out a consistent 150+. When I use MSI Afterburner overlay or the Radeon software, it says my GPU is at like <10% utilization. The highest I’ve seen it go is 27% and it never passes that. I have no clue what could cause it and can’t figure it out and am hoping someone can help me.

Also on a side note, my gpu vram clock is always at 1750mhz (max) at never downclocks even in idle, even when on like 1-2% utilization. I haven’t been able to figure that out either if anyone could help with that.

Display driver timeout (6800 xt)

New 6800 xt owner. Software constantly has "display driver timeout" error. Like....a lot. I've tried ddu, a fresh windows install, tried installing drivers without AMD's software. Tried the reg edit timeout to 8 trick. Literally anything I can find and still happening. This is actually my second card, I rma'd the first due to this in case it was a hardware issue, but it's not. Same deal, new card. I'm assuming it's a driver issue as it seems to extend across multiple generations (based on Google results), and from what I can tell is a fairly recent problem. I'm really really regretting my choice. Has there been any acknowledgement of this issue or progress towards a fix? Im dying here. And really really regretting my choice.
