- Bob Odenkirk has regrets from time on SNL: I was such a prick

HE DEFECATED THROUGH A SUNROOF!

Good for him. A man who has looked into himself with honesty.
ID: gq6pwjdJames Gunn talked about this too. I think one of the reasons he managed to retain his cool after being fired was genuine introspection. Something I really wish Gina Carano and Jay Johnston looked upon themselves with, as creators I really liked.
Now, one is probably going to jail, and even worse the other one has to work with Ben Shapiro

I remember he told a story wherein writer (not performer) Al Franken was pitching Stewart Smalley, the self-help guru, and that the character would be played by himself. Odenkirk responded, "Hey, why don't we just have one of the fucking actors do it?"
ID: gq77m1dI mean... fair point.

Had no idea he was on SNL

SNL has a very well known and long history with cocaine use. I suspect a lot of the cast could admit to being quite the pricks at one time or another during their tenure.

We’re all assholes when we’re younger.
ID: gq79zj5There’s a lot of lead-poisoned asshole boomers out there too

Omg bless his hairline here

Guess he's trying to get out in front of something before people dig it up.
Smart move.
ID: gq73e12Nah, if you read the article, the reporter just played him a clip where he appeared in an SNL sketch back in the day, and asked for his reaction. This was his response.
It's already well-documented in that SNL oral history book from about a decade ago, what he's probably alluding to here. In that book, Odenkirk talked about how he wanted to be a performer on SNL, and not just a writer. But producer Lorne Michaels wasn't really interested despite Odenkirk's repeated appeals. It caused some friction, and Odenkirk ended up leaving prematurely to go be a write
on the short-lived Ben Stiller Show. This seems to be what he's referring to, about him being a "prick". He probably regrets the way he handled it -- maybe he would have been on-air talent sooner if he'd had better interpersonal skills back then.

Being opinionated is what makes a good comic. Sounds like he sold out.
Edit: bring on the downvotes, you sheep! Love it. I dwell in your disapproval.
ID: gq6du2pYou sound like a prick
ID: gq6hk4kThat's an example of the exact attitude you'll look back on someday with embarrassment when you've matured, like Odenkirk, and like me about my younger self.
I mean, if you're lucky.
ID: gq6rfefOh, I get it, this is a moment for you. everyone has opinions dude
ID: gq6d1zfGod, how did we get so many stupid adults. Fuck conservatism, man.
