Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (intro)
ID: gqmnfx0Without a doubt one of the best intro sequences of any medium ever. Up there with Bram Stokers Dracula.

ID: gqn5ve5One of the best voice casts ever, Michael Bell, Simon Templeman, and Tony Jay are all legendary. If you want a laugh their outtakes that played during credits are hilarious.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance was one of the greatest games I had played as a kid, and while it's definitely showing it's age it's still quite fun.

ID: gqmnlddYeah, unfortunately they are all showing their age. I want to go back and play through them all again but they were really games for their time. A remake with all the updated accoutrements really needs to happen.

This is the game that started it all for me, my love of gaming and computer's. I used to watch my Dad play Soul Reaver when I was a kid and try to help him figure out the puzzles.

I plagiarized the whole thing when I was a kid for writing class and got an A. Even had people saying "Wow, you need to publish this!", cue nervous laughter.

Amy Hennig, the writer of these games, deserves to have her face carved into mountains for how she elevated video game story telling. She doesn’t get the attention she deserves.

I am faced with a dilemma, let's call it a two-sided coin. On the one side, I upvote this and get get lambasted for only having played Defiance for not being "true fan". The reverse: I forgo the upvote, allowing the series to fall deeper into obscurity, condemning it to further cultural decay. Either way, the game is rigged.

I just remember thinking back then how ballsy it was to make the main character in the first game "Blood-Omen: The Legacy of Kain" the main bad guy in the second chapter "Soul-Reaver."

Ps2 where you play kain and Raziel is still solid. Felt almost dmc level combos.

This series has some of the best voice work in any series, ever. I'd love if they got the original voice actors for a reboot.
ID: gqm7bh9Tragically, the spectacular voice actor for the Elder God, Tony Jay, passed away in 2006. He'd be very hard to replace.

It’s a really great game. It’s a lot like Zelda. You solve puzzles and unlock new powers then use those powers to access new areas.

It was funny. In Hawaii im positive i met Tony Jay (the elder God) before he passed away and he looked exactly like Tony Jay... so i asked him if he was TJ. And he said in the deep crazy voice...”Nah, Not as cooool as that cat”. I walked away dumbstruck and his wife was cracking up. Haha

I want a game when Raziel was still a vampire, with his actual wings before Kain ripped them apart.
ID: gqlzvjsAs dope as that would be I think he didn't have his wings for very long. Like, he mutated, and then went to Kain pretty much immediately or some such nonsense.
I wouldn't mind a retcon though.

He evolved past Kain himself. And Kain tears his wings off out of spite.
Of course, as you play through the game, namely at the end and into the 2nd game, you start to realize that there's ALOT more going on than it seems at first.
Great series of games.

My friend was obsessed with this game, I never saw it. But the intro was sick.

I remember playing the demo level over and over again, one of the best gaming memory for me but unfortunately never got to play the full game.

Still my favorite non mmo (god of war runs a close second) game and series. The latter ones got kind of lame, especially the gameplay. None of them lived up to soul reaver in that regard. Bit the story, voice acting etc. So good. "Time abhors a paradox"
