When they took away the mobile app for communities I saw this coming
ID: gqy4796Yup. I stopped using them after this happened
-
Apparently play does have limits
ID: gqwh8gnPlay has no limits, except for the ones set by us. ~Sony
ID: gqxbzzdPS3, PS2 and PS1 Backwards compatibility
ID: gqwe4zoMany limits it seems
-
PlayStation Communities had potential but it just didn’t click as well as it could have.
ID: gqwny9zAnd the moderation was poor. While there were good communities, a lot were spam, porn, or toxic.
ID: gqwo9c5Porn? Where? I want to show my disgust
-
Just when I started to feel comfortable by playing with strangers.
Cool.
-
Is this a joke? Do they even know how many games will have problems without communities? How people will manage to find players to trade in path of exile? How will be able in games like apex legends to find others for ranked while your friend isn't available? How will you find people to play with in not popular games like 7 days to die? And what about the tournaments? Before they removed the event feature for tournaments so we used communities for it... Now they are removing those too?!? Hell no, I'm not ok with this. We need to do something in the name of god
ID: gqwdntcThey might be going the route of having discord or similar built in. Heard a rumor or leak about such. Not sure how true it is. Didn't derive from a creditable source, but it's good food for thought.
ID: gqxb2bcThey gotta implement that shit in now because I don’t feel like using a third party app to talk to people when I could’ve easily done it on the ps4.
ID: gqwf8c7I agree, I was shocked when I read it. As a dark souls player, communities have played a massive part in my extended enjoyment in playing the game for years. Finding summons or people to help out as a vet - jolly co-op - is integral to the DS community. Damn shame. What a bizarre decision. I hope PS doesn't head into marketing themselves as a purely single player RPG console. So much for their new slogan..
ID: gqxkbhxI use communities all the time, it's a shame
-
Where tf is my notification at, i want my farewell goodbye to the main tab i would easily socialize ppl with. Like I can’t believe they’re really doing this shit like it was so unnecessary and makes no sense at all
-
Weird why they would remove this
ID: gqwo5pjProbably too hard to moderate. In 2021, a lot of countries are far more strict on user generated content (and holding companies responsible) compared to years ago when the feature was released.
-
So... Does the PS5 have an equivalent to the communities?
ID: gqwcc9wNo.
Just like actual parties instead of group chats the reason they are changing this is the ps5 doesn't have it.
ID: gqwfiih"We're taking the feature away because we won't have that feature anymore".
Sometimes, you really have to love Sony.
-
Will those be available on Ps5 at least?
ID: gqxr4iqDoubt it
-
that sucks
-
Well that sucks
-
It fricking sucks! Use communities for all sorts of things
Really pee'd off about this
-
I never used one. What were they like
ID: gqxr789Good when they had parties good way to meet new people and have a laugh
ID: gqxw5p9I see
-
hell na thank god im getting a pc
-
Disappointing news. Lots of communities I liked
-
Lmao Sony are getting worse than Nintendo when it comes to terminating old services. At least wait a year fellas.
-
Honestly I’m getting really tired of Sony and their choices as of late and this is a pretty bad one. I’ve been with PlayStation for years but god are they ticking me off a lot more now then ever before.

ID: gqwlchuSorry, what is lfg?
ID: gqx4ua7Looking for group

Yooooooooooo. This BS. Can’t possibly be that hard to maintain, especially if not that many of us use the service... how bout you try to promote the service and bring in players who didn’t even know it existed?! Are you guys too busy not manufacturing enough ps5s? Or putting all your time and energy into decreasing the amount of scalping on your systems? “Nah just figured we’d fix something els that isn’t broken”
ID: gqxalo2The problem with communities is moderation, which makes it much more difficult to maintain. Without any community rules, or people around to enforce the rules, the worst people on the Internet will just use something as their playground, turning it into a platform for spam, hatred, illegal or restricted content, etc.
People like to complain about having to follow "stupid" rules and regulations, but they're usually there for a reason.
-
There goes the 99k members, Rocket League communities in part of.
-
Never used it but that sucks
-
Man Sony is just really making it hard for players to come together with these last several months. They destroyed the party system and now the communities are leaving. The communities are great for destiny LFG’s
-
God damnit, Sony really has to pull a Nintendo?
-
This kind of sucks. I did enjoy the feature when it came to finding groups for Destiny, The Division, etc... I met a lot of good friends through communities. I also remember using the feature to join car meets in Grand Theft Auto Online and that was pretty fun.
I get the gist though, it’s probably hard to moderate all these communities. Someone correct me if i’m wrong but I think there was a terror attack that was linked with Playstation communities, I believe the terrorists used the platform to communicate and what not.
What bothers me is the laziness. Playstation could easily moderate these communities with bots or they could create jobs and use real people to monitor them.
What sucks the most is that a lot of features relating to networking with others are being removed or modified (Party chat). None of the changes have been positive in my opinion.
Playstation removing or modifying helpful features amidst a shortage of their next generation console because nothing is done about scalpers really doesn’t sit well with me.
-
Xbox One does a...good enough...job at this, not sure why PS4/5 isn't.
-
I’ll miss mine. I posted screenshots, & treated it like a visual diary of sorts.
-
Communities were huge for players on Dark Souls or Bloodborne. I’ve never used them outside of that.
Lower levels needing help on bosses, or chalice dungeons. Most random summons sucked at the game, and with the increase of boss health it defeated the purpose. Sad really.
-
that's shit ... i really like to play with strangers at games like destiny, because you get to know interesting people again and again and have fun with them while playing and secondly, if you missed someone, you could just write briefly in the communities and had someone 5 minutes later
-
Never used it
-
Add a "no" before that "good"
