- Ghost of Tsushima wins Excellence in Animation, Art, & Visual Achievement from the SXSW Gaming Awards!

Personally, I think TLOU II's animation is unmatched.

Of all things I thought the animation was somewhat subpar at times tbh. Game definitely looks great though

As much as I was disappointed with the game, I can’t deny how great it looked

ID: grngwo6The story wasn’t very enticing, and Jin is a dull protagonist. The gameplay gets repetitive by act two, and the open world activities don’t add much depth aside from the mythic tales. You chase a fox, you climb a shrine, you write haikus, you cut bamboo, or you get in a hot spring. For it being an open world, most of what you’re doing is riding a horse from fight to fight. You liberate a camp only to liberate it again in the next act. It does all the same things Ubisoft games do but it got away with it because of how great it looks. We always say devs shouldn’t just focus on graphics but I felt like Ghost of Tsushima valued style over substance. It’s like playing a PS3 game that has next gen graphics.
Edit: Just for context, the person who deleted their comment asked what was disappointing about it and that they felt it was GOTY

Absolutely deserved and pls no TLOU2 comparisons.
ID: grneezqThose are definitely going to happen
ID: grnettiYeah I suppose it’s unavoidable, both are certainly technically impressive but I felt personally GOT was far easier a time sink, but I guess that comes down to my personal taste.
The setting, visuals and sound design was so great to me, but then again TLOU2’s grim and bleak nature makes replays less appealing to me so that probably factors into it.

After the Game Awards love-in last year I'm amazed something other than TLOU II won an award tbh.

Another one, and another one and another
