Enjoy! It's the best way to play the original Resident Evil IMO, as all those quality of life improvements really help the game and made me respect and enjoy it so much more.

ID: gs7qzuwYou can skip all cutscenes, all door loading animations, the knife is mapped to a button like RE4 and is much more useful as a result, it has the 180 degree turn from RE3 etc.

Nice! Its a definently a fantastic way to play the og RE, probably the best way, especially with how many improvements and additions are in the game. You can even touch the characters and they'll react! You can tell they really put a lot of effort into this port, even though Capcom pretty much did zero advertising for Deadly Silence

ID: gs7p2yqYeah its, Resident Evil Deadly Silence is just a port of the original game. But it offers a lot of little gimmick stuff that the DS has, some neat, and some actually pretty enjoyable. Puzzles are revamped, there's a "rebirth" mode that completely changes enemy placements, items, and completely changes some puzzles entirely.
Also you prob haven't heard of it because Capcom put no effort into advertising it lmao. I didn't hear about it until a few years ago.
ID: gs81vsyEvery room, even cleared rooms, has the chance to enter a first-person knife battle. You tap or slash on enemies as they attack to counter and "stab" them.
It's a pretty fun little addition. Keeps the mansion feeling active and dangerous, even after you've killed everything.
ID: gs81i4oIt's got basically 2 (well actually 3) games on it. First is straight up RE1. I can't remember if it has the enhancements (like quick turn and quick knife) but puzzles and all it's just a port of RE1.
RE "Rebirth" mode which uses DS functions, stuff like puzzles that use touch screen and mic and sometimes when going through doors you get a bunch of enemies coming at you that you use touch screen to knife (but you get a free item for completing it). This mode definitely has the quick turn and quick knife enhancements (down A for 180 and L draws knife while R draws gun like RE4).
Third game is a kind of odd multiplayer mode. Haven't played much of it because it's a multi-card local area only game (so you need to be near someone else with the game). I think it has two modes, one mostly cooperative and one semi-competitive. You don't actually interact with other player directly (though you do see where they are). You're just trying to get to exit first and I think defeating enemies powers up enemies that other player fights, though I only played it once a while ago so I can't quite remember exactly.

It's a great port! Rebirth mode is SO much fun.

This version was the one where I learnt to complete the game in under 1.5 hours.
Helped me get gud.

ID: gs7vz42Forsure I didn't know about the quick turn and knife button those definitely are an improvement!

Where did you get this? Also could this help with knowing how to do the puzzles in RE1 remake?
ID: gs80lcqThe puzzle knowledge doesn't really transfer over between the original and remakes. The remake specifically tries to subvert some expectation and changes several aspects of key items and new areas.

Funny how people don't know about this when for me it was my 1st resident evil ! At the times i was 7 and not a lot in front of tv and only knew this game by my walktrhoughs magazine (at the time we didnt have so much money and i spend hours reading walktrhough magazine , make me feel like i had the game for real !) And it gave me so much envy as never before and my parent get a way to buy it ! From here start my love of this serie , with this original pieces that stay still my favorite RE especially for the ambiant and soundtrack 🙂 (special note to the mode master of knife and multiplayer that was really fun if you had friend that have this gem !)
