Wow, thanks for posting this. This would have taken quite a lot of effort to compile and summarize!

3 : Anonymous2021/03/26 11:11 ID: gsa1hsj

Boy am I glad I got an msrp 6800. Everytime I check back in the pricing is worse and stock is gone, even in NZ.

ID: gsaf3f4

I got a 6800 for msrp then Uptraded it to a 6800XT for an extra $200. Its more than MSRP but I have the card I wanted and can stop looking everywhere for it

ID: gsa3ahm

Same here with my 3080. It's the slowest 3080 on the market, and took a month and a half to arrive after a day-one order, but it was at a normal price just over MSRP so who cares?

ID: gsa3imz

I'm very lucky as I haven't even seen any reference model 6800s go for the price I got mine for. Still not a premium model but better than reference so I'm super happy.

ID: gsad1fg

i got a 6700 XT from a Microcenter in Chicago for $820 MSRP. it is absolutely ridiculous out here man

ID: gsc6npk

That's USD right. That's getting up to the price its selling here in NZD. Usually stuff is 1.8 to 2x the USD price here.

ID: gsaw4kl

Got a 6800xt Merc. It’s a beast but xfx got me for $1050 plus tax. It’s mining while I’m at work to cover the cost difference

4 : Anonymous2021/03/26 10:46 ID: gs9zn5e

Even at MSRP doesn't seem like value for money to me honestly. But I guess the MSRP is with the current demand in mind so its not surprising. Its basically the same price/performance as 6800XT and thats not typically a good sign... usually going high end should be more costly.

I guess prices will stay high for so long that they become the new normal, pretty unfortunate that.

ID: gsaiwbb

The MSRP would never have been 480 in a normal market situation. You would have to have a VERY specific workload to justify it over a 3060Ti at 400:

1: you NEED 12gb vram yet don’t need cuda 2: you are one of the 5 people that use Linux desktop and absolutely need open source drivers 3: you exclusively play dirt and assassins creed?

ID: gsarz5z

well, given the recent revalations around the scheduling, it may be a better upgrade for some if you have a lower end CPU vs the 3060ti.

But I'm in total agrement the price would be too high but for the crazy demand right now

ID: gsb7pu1

168

I am in that #2 category and I am absolutely dying to get my hands on a 6700xt at msrp

ID: gsbuas2

The MSRP would never have been 480 in a normal market situation

it would. They did 6800 at 579 and 6800XT at 649. Knowing about the "market situation". Those are far more expensive chips to make for better money.

ID: gsbuuda

The 3060Ti is actually worse due to Nvidia drivers having a massive CPU overhead that drags down their performance into the dirt.

5 : Anonymous2021/03/26 09:33 ID: gs9ux6f

They should have split the sam on and sam off results so you could get a clear view of what the feature adds.

Mixing them leads to a total average performance level that is too low if you have it on and too high if you have it off.

ID: gs9wvch

Should have - yes. But sometimes even the reviewers not report that state.

ID: gsa070q

I would not trust a reviewer that did not disclose what settings they had turned on / off when it comes to performance altering features like SAM.

ID: gsbuony

Their 1440p results for 3080/6800XT changed despite using the same sources of reviews. Well, they updated the chart with the same sources and latest review which includes SAM ON and changed game selection.

6 : Anonymous2021/03/26 05:20 ID: gs9ej43

Closer to 3060ti than 3070 but it doesn’t matter they can’t get away with pricing it at $570 if they wanted to.

ID: gs9ytyj

Also with RT the 3060 matches it. And that without DLSS which most RT games support.

ID: gsa33ul

3060 only matches it in RT; in all the rest it beats the 3060. It's more of an overclocked 3060ti, with shit ray tracing.

7 : Anonymous2021/03/26 08:10 ID: gs9pw5w

Yeah not so good, this had to be at best a 399$ card. Thanks for compiling so many benchmarks mate

ID: gs9ruwo

If Nvidia didn't price 2000 series the way they did and if AMD didn't wholeheartedly play ball, this would be a $200-300 card. There still hasn't been a value replacement for 480 from nearly 5 years ago.

RX 480 released with bigger memory bus width (which dictates a lot of the PCB complexity/thermal requirements that can't be done away by node shrinks), with bigger number of memeory chips fitted, although admittedly, smaller die, in 2016, for $239. The "inflation" of GPU prices is absurd and I wholeheartedly hope Intel enters the ring with undercutting the other two (after all, Intel is the one with fabs they need to justify) in (actual, effective) price.

You say that without acknowledging that consumers did handshake that price.

You're delusional my friend

ID: gsacjyy

The value replacement card when adjusting for inflation was the 5600xt.

ID: gsatxlt

Intel makes their cards with TSMC. So it won't have any significant impact on the market.

ID: gscoq7u

I wholeheartedly agree. I never paid much more than 250...300$ish for a card and I hope for a 300$ 6600XT, because my monitors will stay for another 1-2 years. 30% more against a 5700XT is not worth ~500$.

With luck there will a wave of crypto cards flooding the used market in the summer, then I will pick one one of the silent ones.

8 : Anonymous2021/03/26 07:59 ID: gs9p95j

At least now I know I don't need to upgrade from my RX 5700. Thank you for the hard work compiling this!

ID: gs9u52t

+43% over my 5700 at 1440p sounds pretty nice. Once these are at msrp I'll have to upgrade....to a 3070.

9 : Anonymous2021/03/26 13:52 ID: gsai064

Guess it's time to upgrade...

I just got a AMD reference 6700XT - there is more OC in the cards then most of these "pro" reviewers somehow managed.

By undervolting 100mv and setting core to 2850mhz, +15% power limit and 2150mhz memory with fast timings - I achieved the below:

Somehow this gets me the #1 spot in the world for a 6700XT with a Ryzen 3600 woot woot!

Overall at these settings the card is 35-40% faster than my 5700 - which was flashed to XT.

ID: gsa43se

Here are my results

~45 minutes of tinkering and im able to sit at 2725mhz at 1150mv with 2150 mem "fast timing"

so it does appear that either I lost the lottery, or you won.

Still going to tinker a bit and try to get more of an undervolt.

Also, ignore my CPU score, I still need to adjust my 5600x

ID: gsavs1x

That is still a great result - what I found so far is that the UV allows for the card to maintain higher boost through the run, it sits at its max power target the whole time.

The Stilt also mention that in navi2 - the voltage in wattman is not an absolute value. It is an offset.

So if you select 1150mv - that means its a 50mv offset to the voltage curve that AMD applies. It seems UV for the stock cards with the small cooler is a must.

ID: gs9t67y

I also have a reference card and I’m going to steal these specs to see if I can replicate these. I knew they had some solid OC capability but haven’t pushed mine yet. Think I was at most running 2700mhz.

ID: gs9u88i

Somehow this gets me the #1 spot in the world for a 6700XT

Have you considered the possibility that you just got a golden chip instead?

ID: gs9z7ew

I’m going to go tinker with mine now. I’ll report back if that’s stable or not.

ID: gsawzh2

To be honest, I highly doubt it - Wattman automatic undervolt, as well as the automatic OC made very little difference in settings. Suggesting that my chip is just average but who knows, you might be right.

ID: gsa7n7y

That's pretty close to my 3060Ti OC, maybe if you remove the UV you can surpass it

(13450 graphics score)

ID: gsav5l5

Nice work brotha! I'll see what I can do 😀

ID: gsda1sv

Well, I gave it another try today, this is all she's got.. but good enough to take #1 6700XT graphics score - I guess I'll take it 😀

11 : Anonymous2021/03/26 15:58 ID: gsayvrd

Why oh why are we having ANY discussion about performance vs. MSRP? All through this thread are comments about how it compares to the 3060 Ti based on MSRP and how it's not a good value. Who cares what the MSRP is? None of these cards are available for MSRP (unless you get lucky beyond belief) and, for that matter, none of these cards are available at all (unless you want to pay a scalper) for the majority of gamers. MSRP is meaningless right now so stop talking as if it even matters. They could have said they were going to sell it as the replacement for the RX 5600 XT for $279 and it would be the greatest "value" this generation...except it wouldn't be because you can't get anything for MSRP. Please stop quoting imaginary numbers like they mean something.

This card falls between the 3060 Ti and 3070 for performance. If the 3060 Ti is available for $899 and the 6700 XT is available for $899, then things like performance, amount of VRAM, DLSS, and ray tracing become the determining factors. The MSRP has been and continues to be a pointless topic and isn't worth discussing.

With that said, thank you, Voodoo, for the charts.

12 : Anonymous2021/03/26 13:54 ID: gsai5jr

Ethereum hash rate?

ID: gsaslfr

with overclocked memory, 6700xt does ~47-48mhs

13 : Anonymous2021/03/26 14:24 ID: gsam2a7

Yeah, I can see why reveiwers weren't excited for this one when assuming MSRP means anything.

Even at 1440p no RT which is best case for it, for $20 more you get 3070 and more perf per $ and a slew of other advantages, or for $80 less you get 60Ti with a measly 5% performance hit. This card makes no sense. But I'm sure AMD wouldn't have released it at this price if the market situation was different. It should cost 420 ayy.

14 : Anonymous2021/03/26 15:51 ID: gsaxu7f

Bench using games can’t guarantee consistent fps because reviewers use different part of the game for testing? Is this considered

15 : Anonymous2021/03/26 20:20 ID: gsbzzfs

I'd have a bit of buyers remorse of getting a 3060 Ti when I did if not for the fact that I got it close to MSRP and the 6700xt is selling for a 1000 dollars here. And RTX performance and DLSS yada yada.

16 : Anonymous2021/03/26 10:25 ID: gs9y868

Who cares. We cant buy any.

ID: gsb1trp

At least in Germany you can. At least two shops have a 6700xt in stock and you "only" need to pay 800-900 Euro.. (only 350-450 Euro above MSRP).

Quiet low price compared to the RTX 3070 that is still out of stock, and if it is in stock, it sells out immediately for about 1200 Euro. But the RTX 3060 (not TI) is also in stock in at least one shop. Sells for 700 Euro (they tried to sell it for 800 Euro just yesterday, but it seems no one is interested to pay that much, MSRP is 320 Euro).
