- Final Fantasy XIV for PS5 will have an improved framerate, 4K resolution, faster loading times, 3D audio and haptic feedback support
-
Excited for this. Almost through HW and will love the load time decreases and frame rate improvements.
ID: gt0qmr8ID: gt0t3vpI think dungeons are 6 seconds but that’s also on PC too, guess to help PS4’s catch up?
ID: gt1449fIt's super fast but not the best example showing how fast it is. I wanna see porting into Limsa at near max people. I've seen PS4 Pro with SSD and PS5 videos and it's quick already so that's a good sign to come.

So excited. The game already runs great on the PS5. I can’t wait for the official version.
ID: gt0wbbvIs this a hard game to pick up and start if you've never played before? Like is the online world so full of skilled players with built up characters that it's too late to even start now? That's how I feel about Star Wars Battlefront 2 so it keeps discouraging me to play.
ID: gt0wujvNo. I just started in January and it has been very easy to get into. You can go at your own pace and other players' levels really mean nothing. The main story is mostly single player with a few dungeons that require parties, but you can use "duty finder" to find a party. It automatically scales down high-level players to the level of the dungeon. Most of the time people are very helpful and give you tips on what to do for your specific class.
I wanted to play for the story which I'd heard is amazing and so far it hasn't disappointed, but I haven't even gotten to the meat of it yet (the expansions). So if you want to play just jump in and you won't be disappointed.
ID: gt0wytiNot at all, other than the dungeons on the way that are story gated, it really is a single player game that is veeeery social. Once you do hit endgame, that is the top gear grind. There are currently lots of options for high level gear, so it isn't too bad, plus the endgame changes every few months so no one is really left behind. It's very easy to catch up.
ID: gt0zf2bWhile this game is an mmo, it only becomes like that when you reach the current level cap. Up until then it’s basically a single player final fantasy game with a bit of multiplayer for dungeons and boss fights.
ID: gt11lg6FFXIV does have a large community of skilled players but I found that a good thing. They can carry you through dungeons and even raids.
The game is set up so that high level players have strong incentives to run low-level dungeons using the Duty Roulette, they are levelled down for the duration of the instance. Basically, it is very common to be grouped with high level players, in fact it’s a core part of the experience.
There is PvP but hardly anyone plays that crap.
ID: gt0y0ffBeen playing a year now. It feels like any solo final fantasy game with the addition of multiplayer dungeons and raids. The focus is on the story of your character doing very stereotypical final fantasy things. When doungens and raids happen everyone is synced to the same level for multiplayer stuff decided on the level of the content (unless you choose to create a group unsynced). the community is also really nice, and if you let folks know you are trying a dungeon for the first time they will most likely help you learn the mechanics for it and are super sweet. I haven't played any PVP stuff so I can't speak for that, but it is a very small component to the game as a whole. I have really enjoyed my time with the game. It does start kinda slow, and some jobs don't feel "complete" until later in the game- but since you can do everything on one character you are free to change up and try whatever feels best. If you are interested, the free trial includes everything up to the end patch of the first expansion which would give you plenty of content to see if it something you like.
ID: gt0wtazSame feels. I want to get into FF but it feels such a big universe and I feel I won’t be able to play it.
ID: gt0zsjkNah, the community in FFXIV is probably one of the best around, super helpful; plenty of game to play even in the free trial version, includes the first expansion. Final update for this expansion is coming April 13th, and the newest expansion just got announced; so you have plenty of time to enjoy the game and get caught up.
ID: gt0x1fgIt's as coop as an MMORPG can get, with lvl scaling per zones, and it's mainly a single player story with open world rpg online things in-between so don't worry about other players. Story and classes are pretty plain during the first base game (lvl 50) after that it only gets better, so jump in and try if you like this type of MMORPG, it often blocks stuff behind main story quests so it's not your wow type of mmo
ID: gt0x706Not at all. This was my first MMO. (Well, I guess not, I played FlyFF when I was in middle school lmao) I started back in Septembe
2020, and now I'm savage raiding with a static.Point is, you don't need any prior experience. I had none and I'm working through some of the hardest content in the game (besides Ultimates). All you need is a willingness to play.
ID: gt0xs4lNo it’s a GREAT game to pick up from the start. I started in February and have over 100 hours all on the free trial. Check out the free trial. The community is VERY good and kind to new players.

I have it on PC, but I really want to pick it up for ps5 next time it goes on sale just for those lazy days when I want to play from my couch. I missed the last sale though :/
ID: gt1i8ycYeah, I'll probably do the same.
-
I'm really curious about the haptic feedback. I haven't looked into it, but I hope it's different depending on the class you play, that'd be neat.
ID: gt0uwefProbably terrain feel or something like that.
ID: gt0saftThat'd be an insane amount of work lol.
ID: gt17gewHaptic feedback implementation is not as complex as you think.
ID: gt0t9unProbably just resistances based on cool down times and haptic rumble
ID: gt15z7wHaptic feedback is not the same as adaptive trigger.
Haptic feedback is just rumble/vibration.
The ps5 version won't have adaptive trigger because the game uses the trigger to cycle through hotbars. (L2 and r2 basically act as alt and ctrl on a keyboard)

This is on sale atm, if I buy it will it get upgraded for free or is there an official PS5 version that needs to be purchased?
ID: gt13vfsGet it now, the upgrade to PS5 is free.
ID: gt2k4kqif you havent played it yet dont buy it. the trial allows free unlimited access to ~100h of content, but if you pay at any point you gotta start paying the subscription.
ID: gt2p377It’s on sale? Looks full price when I check the PSN store. Already have it on PC But was thinking of picking it up for playing on the couch. Don’t wanna buy it at full price though in Canada. 79.99.
ID: gt2q6kiWhere? I’m not seeing the sale.
-
Cool, while I dont have a PS5 and I never played Final Fantasy, I still enjoy seeing news like this.
-
FFXIV is my most played game in the last 5 years with. Absolutely amazing.
-
It’s funny how all the pc players feel the need to comment how much more superior their units are to consoles and how even with this update they’re still going to load faster... it’s not a race, first of all. Secondly, can we wait til the ps5 version drops before comparing sizes? Sheesh.
ID: gt1mo0vIf anyone says that, tell them they are a dumbass. I play on a very beefy pc and my ps5 already loads just as fast. FFXIV has a certain amount of hangtime to display the name of the area you are loading in to and you can't surpass that. So unless this update lowers that default hangtime everyone will be dead even unless you have a lower end pc.
ID: gt2zn6aIsn't the SSD on PS5 supposed to be faster?
-
About to start shadowbringers, so I hope this drops soon!

What's this game like with a controller? I've played a lot on PC and with a high level Dark Knight (only class I know) I can't imagine the controller having access to all the skills.
ID: gt0xqfoController support is surprisingly excellent. I started playing on pc and moved to ps4 a couple years back. Now on ps5 I raid, manage fc, do endgame content on multiple roles no prob whatsoever. It's actually more relaxing and comfortable playing on controller rather than keyboard imo.
ID: gt1q3bbExcept PvE. Targeting with controllers is abysmal when there's so many targets to choose from.
Targeting party members is super great, though.
ID: gt0x5ccI main SCH myself and it works great. I’ve had it set up so R2+L2 and L2+R2 provides me with two more sets of hot bars so really, you have access to 32 buttons easily if you wanted.
ID: gt0zxgeYou could also just use keyboard and mouse on the ps5
ID: gt11pnvEven on PC my wife and I both use controllers. The game actually works better with one IMO
-
That's nice, maybe I should give it a try!
-
Let's go! This cant come soon enough.
-
Really wish I could play this game. But during the orignal PS4 beta I used a SE account and email I no longer have access to and when I bought the game years later it completely locked me out of using my new account. Feels shitty to literally not be able to play the game I paid for. I’m going to assume I won’t be able to play the PS5 version too. God fuck SE and their anti-consumer game locks.
ID: gt2tmqaI had the same issue. If you contact them they can remove your initial email linked to the console and delete the account. But they can only do it once. I had to get the free trial account removed from my Playstation so that I could port over my old PC account from like 6years ago.
-
Stoked to see how this performs!
-
Dang. I might load out of stuff fast enough to actually be able to com people now. Lmao
