I have been waiting to play this game since I found out it was being released for PS5 but I've heard some pretty bad things in terms of bugs. For those who have actually played this version are the bugs really that game breaking or are they more superficial and inconvenient than anything? Trying to figure out if I really wanna wait till some more patches come out or if it's worth it to dive in now. Was really thinking about enjoying my Sunday getting sucked into what I hear is one of the best modern RPGs made.
Any insight would be awesome.

5 or 6 hours in and no gamebreaking bugs so far.
Sometimes the framerate drops but that seems so fix itself pretty quickly. And the way you press the x button is “off” sometimes, like not registering properly or sometihing and your character scussels about and does nothing. Not sure if that their intended implementation of controller controls or not but it could be improved imho.

For the rest i love the game, such a unique game in these times.

I'm 2 hours in and haven't faced a problem..yet.

I’ve encountered one glitch that is preventing me from finishing a “main” quest. I don’t think the quest is necessary to complete the game but one I’d still like to complete anyway.
Other than that, no issues besides having to double click everything to interact with.

There’s some jank and framerate issues but the game is far from unplayable.

I played literally just the opening moments of the game and figured it needs a patch. Interacting with things is frustrating as they usually don't register on the first attempt. I even would have to line up the character with a spot on the floor before interacting with it to get it to work.
I'm waiting for another patch to fix this before going back to it.
ID: gtds4ulHold down X instead of tapping it. Enjoy the game.
ID: gtdt9syThanks! I'll have to try thst and hopefully helps
ID: gtecktmI've found this definitely increases the chance it'll work but it's still not everytime. Either way it does help a lot, thanks for the tip!

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm going to wait until patch 1.2 comes out. The devs had promised it would be released before the start of the weekend but that clearly didn't happen. The patch can't be too far away though. Just wait a couple of days if you can before starting the game. That's what I'm going to do.
ID: gte6cqiI'm really looking forward to it, but I won't buy the game until it works properly.

Game had softlocked on day 3 for me. Lots of bugs that make the game difficult to play too.

Never heard of it until I saw your post
I completed the game on PS5 this morning. Issues I've encountered are:
- When a dialogue starts with playing an animation there were some instances where only the first paragraph would display and there was no way to continue. Had to reload a save and retry several times for a few instances of this.
- One time a loading screen never stopped loading, had to close the game and load a save.
- The conclusion to two quests, finding your badge and finding one of the pieces of armour, seem to be bugged.
- One time the game crashed and the associated save file was deleted due to corruption. Unfortunately this came after an important climax in the game making me lose about a hour of progress.
- X button occasionally doesn't register properly
Overall the current state of the game definitely has flaws, but not enough to ruin it, I still had a great time. If you do decide to start playing now I'd recommend saving quite often.
Some of these sound a little more than inconvenient but still not enough to completely break the game. This is helpful thanks
A lot of the voice acting is missing. I bought it at release and have been disappointed with the bugs. Waiting for a patch or two until I play from start to finish. I can tell that it's a game that appeals to my sensibilities and i don't want my first playthrough to be a compromised experience.
Inexcusable. How did QA miss this + the X button issue?
It’s definitely playable, but Patch 1.2 is supposedly coming soon to address control issues so just wait for that.
So thank you for the answers. I went ahead and got it because I figured I could handle it based on what what I was hearing. I'm definitely seeing what you mean by the interact button not always working. It's slightly frustrating but not ruining the experience or anything. So far I'm loving the game, reminds me a lot of Kentucky Route Zero but more interesting I guess.
Some of the voiceover audio doesn’t play and the controller support is pretty ganky. If they can fix the way the controllers react it’ll be great but currently I’ve had to stop playing because it’s too difficult to stay engaged with it.

That's really good news. I think the controller issues they are addressing in the next patch from what I read. But glad to know I can get 5 or 6 hours in without anything too terrible.
