The first 4 games in the Metal Gear Solid series are serious classics and releases on PS5 would clearly sell very well. There is now a whole generation of gamers who have not been able to properly experience the original Metal Gear Solid. The history of this series needs to be preserved and made avaliable natively on the PS5.
I strongly believe that by doing this would introduce tactical espionage action to a whole new generation of gamers.
Edit: I know Sony doesn't own the IP and this post doesn't indicate as such.

Either that or reboot Syphon Filter. We need new stealth games now that splinter cell and mgs are dead.
ID: gu3apf6ID: gu3hwkmI thought you could shoot in first person.
you pretty much required three hands to do it though lol
ID: gu3m2v6top down camera is great in MGS
AI was fine and is fine
FPS did not integrate well to the game when they made twin snakes
ID: gu3dgw4I’d honestly be happy with a fairly conservative updated port. I like the game as is for the most part I just want updated textures
ID: gu3gid1What about an update of Twin Snakes, the GameCube remake?
ID: gu3q4ygI agree. Especially when the gameplay already evolved to the point of MGSV it would feel odd to roll the gameplay back. I’d much rather it be remade more like RE2 or FFVIIR over Demon Souls.
ID: gu381ymThis also needs to happen, I second this!
ID: gu3m254Best recent stealth game is definitely TLoU2. If you really want a stealth game then you should check it out. I agree though, syphon filter was bad ass. Loved that little taser.
ID: gu3oeesI'm an MGS fanboy and TLoU2 scratched an itch even the excellent Hitman trilogy couldn't. Can't wait to replay it at 60fps.
ID: gu3kw69Is Splinter Cell dead? I just assumed that Ubi decided to let it lie dormant until the new gen kicked off.
ID: gu3l024I'd love some sort of super heavy stealth multiplayer game.

Sony doesn't own the Metal Gear Solid IP, so unless Konami allows them to do this it's very unlikely.
ID: gu3800aYes I'm aware. These are still staples of the Sony universe. Even though ports have happened to other consoles home base is PS.
ID: gu38y5eWhy ask for someone that doesn't have permission to do it, it you knew they weren't allowed. Lol.
-
Imagine LOU getting a remake but not MGS3, cruel world.
-
Yea, I would take a Metal Gear Remake anyday over anything. If any money should be invested, it should be to buy that license from Konami, then have Kojima’s studio handle it, or blue point.
-
I need this so much. One of my favorite series ever. It’s a shame it’s hard to play them without legacy hardware.
-
I was watching this video a couple of weeks ago
It's about twin snakes and how terrible it is, so I've been thinking since then that a remake would be very hard to do, it'd have to be more of a full on re-imagening
ID: gu39w95This is correct. Twin snakes is not great in comparison to the OG. It needs to be a fully updated version of the OG. No taking parts of MGS2 and applying them to MGS. Just stay true to the original.
-
Honestly Konami needs to go. They just sit on so many franchises and don’t do anything with them unless it’s for pachinko machines. Only games I think that they release are PES games.
ID: gu3vrdyKonami would probably have to go back to making games.
I would think Casinos are closed because of the pandemic so their Pachinko machines are not generating money,
-
Yeah... Sony don't own metal gear
ID: gu380r2Nobody said they did.
-
I would prefer a ps3 backward compatibility, the Collection of all the MGS is there
ID: gu3bvjtThis would be a viable solution as long as it is native.
-
Nah
ID: gu3ds5mLoved mgs 1-4: I would not want a remake of any of them. I have absolutely no interest because there's very little you can do to modernize the gameplay. It's going to be the same game.
ID: gu3kjosThe problem is that you can't play those games on contemporary PS, and since you can't get a DS3 anymore it's getting increasingly hard to play those games even on PS3. Also MGS4 was never released on Xbox, so your only bet is emulation.
Those games need at least a remaster to PS4, if only for preservation's sake
-
I always really wanted a remake/retelling of the original Metal Gear MSX games. Would be cool to play as a young Solid Snake and a good chance to fix up the stories and characters a bit to lineup better with the later games... make Big Boss less of a typical villain and all of that.
-
Agreed. If we keep talking about perhaps they will listen
-
Was a massive fan of the last one( couldn’t go back to GTA after it as I felt the controls for the character to be bandy as fuck), still check in for the online battles that Iv no idea how it works but I’m still kicking ass. I’d love a new one. Took so long to get the last one it will probably be PS7 by the time we get it.
-
If we are talking about remakes, MGS is a good way to go. But in general, enough with the remakes and reboots. This goes for TV and movies, as well. Seems like originality is an increasingly rare thing.
-
MGS4 went off the rails with the story. Kojima was much better when he had that editor (filter) from MGS 1-3 working for him.
Problems with MGS4:
A burping monkey in a diaper owned by an arms dealer that looks like Sisqo?
Raiden is a cyborg now whose fighting technique to take down those giant Gekkos is to tap dance on top of them in high heels?
Meryl agrees to marry that flatulent sexual predator that wanted to grope Mei Ling's ass at the mission briefing just two hours ago?
The machine gun gesturing soldier mind control scene with Ocelot. Whoever motion captured and directed that must have gone to a world class hammy acting school.
ID: gu3t1y3MGS2 has Ocelot being controlled by a "human arm". MGS1 has a man reading your game saves Vlad literally dances his ass around people in MGS2 The game literally has guards rendered useless if they have a playboy in front of themMGS4 has its issues, I'm not excusing it, but the series was always outlandish.
-
Konami is doing fuckall with their franchises so might as well remake their best series and get easy money. They have the amazing fox engine ready for more metal gear and still wasted their money and time on survive.
I have the BC collection of 2, 3 and PW on my xbox but it will never be complete without MGS4 and the first MGS.
ID: gu3soa8It's crazy that a technical marvel like the Fox Engine has just been rotting away for the last 5 years.
-
I just wish Sony would have the chance to buy the IP off of Konami (because Konami sucks, and has sucked, for over the past few years now).
ID: gu3rq6eI wonder why none of the platform holders have done this. Maybe Konami is asking for way too much.
-
I never really played these games but do own all of them on PS3 except 5 whcih I own on ps4. I have been thinking of playing them. Starting with 3.
It would be great if they were ported though. At the moment mgs1 and 4 are only playable on PS3. Or ps1 for mgs 1. 2,3 and peace Walker are on ps 3, 360 and also the Xbox one and series x.
-
Rumor mill is that they're already working on. Rumor based on some admittedly cryptic tweets by Bluepoint employee trying to suggest what was up next... MGS and Castlevania were implied. But a later follow up tweet suggested MGS.
Initial tweet:
Bluepoint Games
@bluepointgames
So calm this spooky night. A symphony of rumors - not one, but two - return from shadow. A resistance to dart home as black monsters escape twisted hills to wander lands and syphon souls. Filter your candy collections, soft from solid, and be eco-friendly. Have a metal Halloween.
-
Yes. It is time.
-
GOD PLEASE
-
Nope. We get last of us instead.
-
I just bought the legacy collection for PS3
-
Apparently Bluepoint is working on a MGS1 remake and Mark Cerny is involved in it's development.
-
If BluePoint is remaking the first game it'll be incredible for sure.
-
Not only a remake/remaster of the "Solid" series, but I'd love to get a remake of Metal Gear, and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake! Designers could go crazy with the level design.
I mean how epic would it be to face Venom Snake as a final boss in Metal Gear? I'd give them my money.
-
Not all games are for everyone and that's OK.
-
Sucks, I wanted to get into those games so much... it bothers me.
-
I don't know if you follow Moore's law is dead, but after the release of Demon's Souls he kind of alluded their next game was probably MGS remake.
[EDIT]

An MGS remake wouldn't just be a technical overhaul like Demon's Souls or SotC --- it would need an actual reimagining like RE2. MGS is a super old game (eg the camera is topdown, the enemy AI is limited, can't aim in first person, etc).
It'd have to be a 3rd person camera, which completely changes how the levels and bosses work. Eg imagine being able to aim from the first floor to the second. Then the enemy AI would have to be totally rebuilt to match modern standards like MGSV.
So it'd be a massive creative project, not just a Bluepoint-style technical overhaul. At least that's the way I see it.
