- I cast my old broken PS1 Controller I loved this console
-
Your ps1 controller is in weirdly good shape
ID: gu1r6hnID: gu2f24eI wouldn't want mine cleaned. Like dusted sure but if there were stains, chips in the paint, or big scratches I'd keep them. What's the point of casting it if you didn't want to remember it the way it was?
ID: gu1rbwcLike same, also those dents, cuts and permanent stains it would get.
I mean mine had a rough life but i cant imagine it this pristine even out of the box
ID: gu2o6irMy 360 controller came from the factory with a slight imperfection at the bottom edge of the right analog stick housing, a slight dip or groove where the mold didn’t cast quite right. I spent many hours playing RPGs running my thumbnail along that smoothed edge reading codexes about omni gel over while eating dinner, considering whether to support Bhelen or Harromont, pondering if it’s good or bad to spare Gil.
I’d definitely place my specific controller on display rather than a a fresh one. Not slabbed in acrylic in my case. Maybe a stand, so I can take it down from time to time to feel the familiar thumb groove again. Still do when I stumble across it in the closet. The console is dead and fine years ago but the controller remains because I still have an attachment to that groove.
ID: gu2df6zSame with mine. It's literally around the joysticks.
ID: gu354nfWatch the master at work.
ID: gu1rx2vUltrasonic cleaning maybe
ID: gu1s0phNever had any results using those to be honest
ID: gu2bz9bHe has to make it look pristine. It’s not like he’s casting hotdogs, that would be silly!

1000 years from now, when no other controllers are in existence, someone will find this, and the world will celebrate, they will boot up the PlayStation on interstellar travel TV, galaxies will watch.
Then the controller wont work.
ID: gu32ddcHate to burst your bubble...
But resin only lasts 18 years, max...
ID: gu34oucI did some googling, because of your comment.
Today I learned, all about Resin.

Hey! You're the hotdog guy! How's it going, hotdog guy?
Edit: holy shit. I just went through your profile history. Hotdog guy seems like an insult. You do a lot of really cool shit, man. Keep up the good work.
ID: gu1xixaThank you hot dog update on the 14th
ID: gu29vaethat’s my birthday! Best present ever!
ID: gu2qy0oThe internet is so weird with these updates. There's a slice of bread in the Vasa) museum stored in vacuum to demonstrate that the artifacts in there will last a long time because air is what causes decay. Your hotdog will look the same in 10 years unless the resin is drilled into to expose the hotdog.

Ugh this makes me want to eat PlayStation flavored Jell-O. Where can I get some? Japan?
ID: gu1ruplA guy named Jim in my office can hook you up

For other casts, how do you make the object suspend in the middle of the cast?
ID: gu2hcbsLayers. Pour a base layer and let it cure, then place the object and pour over it.
ID: gu2lb2aThanks for that. It was bugging me trying to figure out how.
-
What's up with this trend of dropping random things into epoxy?
ID: gu2isuoI do it for museum collection as a means to preserve the things I cast
-
A gem for your collection. Looks great!
ID: gu2j4tkCheers bud
-
How did you do it? Bit sheltered when it comes to this stuff. Looks class
ID: gu1rkjoAnd how is it so clean and in good shape. Mine is nothing like that no matter how long I clean it I always find a speck of dirt right after on it.
ID: gu1r11xI wanted to know the dates! I would love to do this to my ps1 controller too.
-
Hey this might be a bit random but can you take a picture of the back of this controller please?
I saw a few comments saying is a PS2 controller and I was thinking na they made an original dual shock 1 in PS1 grey, but then looking at your controller again it's looks more white than grey, and they made a PS2 controller is ceramic white.
So then I started looking for a dual shock PS1 controller and many of the ones I found had concave thumbsticks or had "PSONE" written where the PlayStation logo is. So now I'm actually not 100% sure what is correct.
Does the back of the controller have a model number, I tried zooming in on the controller during the spin but couldn't make out all of the text in the bottom left.
Edit: Upon further rabbit holing I think it is a PS1 controller but it's going to really big me now lol, if it is it should be scph-1200

Immediately thought "oh, it's the hot dog guy".
ID: gu27u7hYeah, like “oh yeah, where is that 6 month update?”
ID: gu2hx0jApparently on the 14th.
-
You cut off the cord 🙁
ID: gu29xogDon’t worry, that’s how you make wireless products.
-
Man how do you get it so clear with no bubbles?
ID: gu2j3a3I have lots of practice and use a number of processes including degassing
ID: gu28oexMost likely a vacuum chamber
-
PS1 was my first console and my god it was a beast, my discs were scratched all over, didn't matter, they still played, never once broke down on me (looking at you xbox 360 with your red ring of death).
-
If I put up a million dollar bounty I wonder if it would be possible to retrieve it without damaging the controller.
-
This would be a nice addition to a gaming room. Rip ps1, but hello future! 🙂
-
I thought ps 1 controllers did not had joystics
ID: gu2f3nlThe did ape escape used them as part of the game mechanic when it was new.
ID: gu32b8xNow there's a game that needs a reboot.
ID: gu24pazThe dualshock came out a couple years after the PS1 was released.
ID: gu1y3q4its the dualshock 1
-
The amount of zoomers chiming in that PS1 didn't have Dualshock lmao. There's a reason why the PS2 controller was called Dualshock 2, PS3 - DS3, PS4 - DS4.

No matter how hard I would of cleaned mine there would be a speck of grime that I didn't see before casting it and then only see that grime every time I view it in its cast
