Who here is planning on getting it day 1? Just saw Cohh had a quick 45 min. preview of the game. Game looks sick and hella fun. Has Sony bought Housemarque by the way?

I might have to buy this day one at full price so the devs don’t get mad at me
ID: gvh52w8He acknowledged that you don’t know if you’re gonna love it before you buy it, but he didn’t say “you needed to pay full price on day one” either; he was specifically talking about how more people playing Days Gone two full years after it released doesn’t help get a sequel funded more than it would have if they had better sales during it’s release window. It’s not an unreasonable thing to say, but people keep repeating it out of context. I’m kind of surprised this is even a controversial thing to suggest that a publisher cares about the financial success of an IP when considering whether to make a sequel to it.
Returnal looks good
God of War is getting a sequel and Days Gone isn’t
Another reason could be that God of War is a much better game ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Your context doesn't change anything though. He still placed the blame on consumers for not buying his game full price even though his game released buggy and to mediocre reviews.
Sucks to suck I guess
Gamers are babies.
that quote gets taken out of context so much cause people are too simple to click on articles.
This is the most reasoned post I've seen regarding that quote. Context is everything, but unfortunately it's not going to stop the mindless drones from regurgitating what they think is clever.
me me me
I am planning on getting it day 1 aswell. I know it's very expensive money is a bit tight atm. Still gonna buy it. Lol
LOL
the more I see the more I think I will get it over RE 8.
I love RE, but this game is something new and different. It's beautiful, it seems fun to play and it sounds amazing. Just for being a dark scifi in a alien world made it jump ahead on my playlist.
I totally agree. I have never played a Housemarque game I didn't like. I was just a little apprehensive about the price but it sounds like it is a true PS5 game and that is exciting all by itself. The game just looks better the more I see.
I’m gonna get both and just live in bliss
Same here. I’ve played the RE demo and I wasn’t impressed that much
It’s weird — the world and characters of RE8 look great, but the werewolf creatures looked like they were from the PS3 era or something. Hopefully they’ll look better in the main game; I can’t put my finger on whether it’s a lighting problem or a texture issue or just the art/character design. I don’t mind the change from zombies to werewolves and vampires either, I just think the creature design doesn’t look as on par with the rest of the game.
And personally I think I’m gonna hold off anyhow in the hopes that when the PSVR2 comes out, RE8 will be playable on it. You only get one first impression and run through of a game, and I’d rather do it in VR after playing RE7 in VR. The benefit of scale/depth/perspective in VR adds so much to it, that the design of the werewolves wouldn’t even bother me as I’d be more terrified about the rustling in the bushes and not being able to see them until they’re right up on me. That said, I did preorder Returnal. HouseMarque hasn’t made a bad game yet, and this ticks off so many boxes for me personally.
A mistake Ethan Winters.
With RE8 the only thing I worry about is overall value. Don't get me wrong, I love me a good RE game but you kind of just play it once and it's over. I beat RE7 in about 15 hours and never touched it again until 'Not a Hero' DLC came out and I played that.
Fortunately with RE8 mercenaries mode will be bringing people back in after completing the campaign
Yeah I’m a big RE fan and usually buy day 1... but they get discounted so quickly, I think I’ll just wait on RE8. Buy a complete edition for cheap when it’s available.
No I need to finish Control first
I love how rounded Control was. So much fun from a game I didn't even knew released.
Agreed, I had no idea what the game was even about until I decided to give it a try because it was free on PlayStationPlus. Honestly made my top 5 so early on.
I literally made a list and have been knocking them off one by one. Starting next week till June some of my most anticipated games drop and who knows when I’ll be able to come back to older games.
I pre-ordered (physical). Looks amazing. And no, they haven’t acquired Housemarque - not yet anyway.
I’m buying the hell out of that game. The setting, tone, and gameplay all seem like they were made just for me.
I’m allegedly saving money and not buying games this year, but I’m going to go ahead and break that rule for this one.
Would break that rule for RE8 long before returnal...
I’ll play that too some day, but Returnal is more my style game. RE8 looks amazing, though. I’m going to reply RE7 to scratch that itch for now.
i want to play it solely to get the "ps5" experience so to speak.
but to me thats not a reason to get the game day 1. i'm just not that interested in an alien shoote
whatever you wanna call it.i'm still trying to finish a few otehr games. and resident evil is dropping soon which has been the game i'm looking forward to the most after seeing the reveal last year.
It looks really good and I’m pretty confident I’ll be getting it day 1.
Will preorder in the next few days I'm very excited. Buying digital so no rush to preorder. Looks very good and I'm in need of a game like this. Much more up my alley than ratchet and clank or resident evil
I feel due to how good and original it looks that it will flop sales wise
Quality doesn't sell, gamers seem to go out of their way to avoid quality now, like how Prey sold fuck all.
For me it was 20 euro less. Pre-ordered immediately.
I'm usually not a fan of these types of games, but it does look interesting!! I'll probably wait a couple of weeks before buying after the honeymoon phase is over so I can see everyone's thoughts and get a better idea of the content.
Day 1 gonna stream it on Twitch
Excited... but 80 euro, no chance in hell. Sony got greedy.
i think its discounted at amazon atm.
Game looks great I think if this reviews well (most probably will by looks of things) and sells well they'll aquire housemarque.
Game is really appealing I just feel as though most casual player won't enjoy the game for its rouguelike structure, losing all weapons + upgrades on death will bum alot of people out.
Has serious no one learned their lesson on day 1 buying? Especially when the embargo for reviews doesn't lift till day of.
Edit
Just want to add that I will buy if it reviews well.
Edit 2
Ya'll a bunch of junkies.
I think the early optimism comes from all the reviewer previews praising this game like crazy. But yeah in gonna hold off until embargo day but so far thinking are looking very promising.
I get that and I'm excited too but seriously gamers are their own worst enemies. We are never going to live in a world where games are completely bug free (or close to) experiences until we stop.giving these companies our money before they've proven their final product works.
This is a completely different scenario than Cyberpunk which I assume you (and everyone else) are referring to what they forbid pre ordering.
Cyberpunk review copies were only for the PC version and there were leaks of the PS3 and Xbox One versions that were obviously gimped and janky.
Like I said, completely different than Returnal. It looks extremely polished.
I'm not referring to just Cyberpunk. There's been hundreds of examples since pre orders became a thing. If you want to look at just the last year few years.
Avengers
Outriders
Anthem
Fallout 76
Also games that eventually improved but were not well received in launch
Destiny 2
The Division
No Man's Sky
Star Wars Battlefront 2
These are just some off the top of my head.
Eh, personally I wouldn't get it. Don't get me wrong, the game is great! I'm just not into it. I played Control and enjoyed it in the beginning but got bored after completing it. It's just not my type of game. For the people planning on playing Day 1, I hope you enjoy!
Looks like a fun and good game, but I'm still not convinced its 70$ material.
I'm gonna wait as much as i need for a discount
Nope, gonna wait for a few weeks for reviews. Might be longer since RE8 will be out by then.
They would have been smart to release a demo.
Pre-Ordered RE8 instead as I feel like that's the "Safer" option, knowing I'll definitely enjoy it.
Returnal looks 50/50 to me at the moment, might grab it on sale later or give in if User impressions are positive.
If it reviews well, otherwise, will wait for a sale. 70$ is a challenge for the game and I really don't want it to flop due to the price given it's a new IP.
Looks boring if you ask me. Why get it when RE 8 is like 2 weeks away?
Because returnal is something new, looks great and really fun
