I just watched the demo and it seams strange that native people speak perfect English. IIRC in all other RE games native people speak their own language.

I’ve been thinking about it. The signs are also in English. I think the whole setup is fake and almost nothing is as old as we’re led to believe.
But that’s just a theory, a game theory!

Because the voice recording and mocap was shot in L.A. and there aren’t many talented Romanian speaker actors there. Plus an entire game in a foreign language would alienate the audience.

Yeah Romanians speak English but they do have a slight accent with it.
ID: gvhxetyYes, this is especially funny if you consider how many games have people speak with an accent although they're supposed to speak their own language while you hear English (Assassin's Creed). In Romania, they'd have a good excuse to pull the good old "English with accent" trick and they refuse to. Wacka.

Although the developers were inspired by Romania, no one made direct references. This village is international and very mysterious. At its foundation stand four families from different parts of Europe. The villagers know about them and the mutant Miranda and have lived with them. It may even be an object of some organization.

Yeah, it's a really weird choice, hell, if they wanted to have them speak English, they should have had people speak with Romanian accents at least.
Having them all speak with American dialects is really off-putting.

Apparently Romanians generally speak really good English, however they should still have accents. Also, I'm not sure an isolated rural village would speak good English.

I was about to say it wasn't that important but... yeah... they've been doing it for 15 years, why stop now. Even in Revelations 2 that wasn't a mainline game Evgene speaks with a kinda Russian accent with a few words thrown in.

I don't know but it's really jarring. Hopefully they've done a Romanian voice over so I can just read subs and not break the immersion.

I always let these things slide. The obvious thing is have them speak in whatever language they should be speaking with us reading subtitles. Having them speak English with some accent isn’t a whole lot better IMO.

Honestly I think its some sort of hint that it isn't actually an ancient village but is actually an old umbrella experiment that was left unchecked after their fall.

Some people were nitpicky about the accents of the ganados in RE4. I don't speak Spanish so I wouldn't know but apparently their accents are more Latin American than they are Spanish.
