- Spawn Wave proves that the c-bomb does not affect the PS5 like the PS4 did ! For running physical or digital Games.

I don't even know what a c-bomb is...
ID: gvs2gvaSomething to do with an internal clock component that's battery powered. If this battery dies or the component fails, the ps4 was unable to run any games at all, digital or physical. So apparently the ps5 will still be able to run physical copies of games even if this internal clock fails
ID: gvt62ocCan't you just replace the battery like you would on the motherboard of a PC or laptop
ID: gvs9qa5Again that’s only when you don’t connect to the internet and set time automatically then do trophy sync. When you do that, you can continue on playing like nothing happened even when battery runs out and gets replaced. Is it that hard to understand? Going online for just a second fixes any cbomb ‘issue’
ID: gvtj26plooks like it’s time to stop buying digital
ID: gvsrnr7It's the one after b-bomb.
ID: gvrzisaThanks for saying this. I was too scared to ask

Can the CMOS battery in PS4 be easily replaced?
ID: gvs0ra9Yes.
ID: gvsk0rlNot for the average joe I think
ID: gvsh2ilNo. To replace the CMOS on any of the 3 PS4 models, you have to completely disassemble them down to the motherboard.
ID: gvshwzyThat’s not hard at all for a technician.
ID: gvsarwrNo

Even thought Sony was planning on closing the store for PS3 and Vita, they were still going to let you redownload your games. If/when they stop letting you do that, they could easily leave a server running that lets you authenticate your digital purchases. If Sony does eventually shut down those servers they could also prevent any further issues with a firmware update. I would say try not to worry so much. Just enjoy your games =-)
ID: gvt2a7sI think you give Sony far too much credit.

Nice for physical! But it does affect the Digital games though? He could not launch Horizon.
ID: gvr00nuDigital games ceasing to work upon the discontinuation of the online service is a forgone conclusion. This applies to every single DRMed digital distribution system. This is not remotely surprising.

Wise up, people.

ID: gvrbgvzAs long as BC continues there is no reason one couldn't connect and download these games. Also the console would probably be hacked to shreds by then.

Yes i know, and we for sure need to ask for the eventual PS6 to be BC with PS5 and PS4 games. But the example in the video is showing a digital game that already was downloaded in the console not working because of the CMOS date problem, i think its because of trophy support? It would be nice to get a System option to disable trophy check up and so you can run digital games even without the cmos thing.

Spawn Wave is my favorite gaming news/review/repai
channel. Dude really knows what he's talking about and is just fun to watch. He's also surprisingly RIPPED.
ID: gvrl7h9John Spawn has the power
ID: gvqxif2Spawn Wave is who IGN shoulda gave a job to instead of Philip Miucin.
ID: gvrg44aWas that a thing? i.e. did he apply for a job and was rejected?
ID: gvr0hg1I’d also like to say his podcast, Spawncast, is really fun to tune into
ID: gvr758aRipped nerds is the new cool. Brains AND brawns, just like Banner Hulk.
ID: gvrpqaaRipped nerds are hawt.
ID: gvs0jwtHe's also surprisingly RIPPED.
WTF! hahahaha

TLDW?
ID: gvr0q9aOnly affects digital games
ID: gvr1posFirst world problem I guess, but it still feels bad that I won’t be able to boot up my digital edition PS5 and play games on it 20 years from now
ID: gvs52rcIn 20+ years, your PS4 might not be able to play digital games until you replace the battery.

He’s been the main proponent of the issue affecting PS4. It seems like he’s less interested in trying to get Sony to fix it than he is in gathering clicks for his YouTube channel.
ID: gvr3ck6He literally only talks about fotm things. Only plays big name games that everyone is excited for and drops it once the next thing to make a video about comes out.
Just seems disguenuious
ID: gvric9uI used to watch his channel a ton, but it's kinda turning into a "rage" channel where he just jump from one gaming controversy to another. I play games and consume gaming media to get away from all that, I'd rather just ignore the stuff that makes me upset and focus and the games and stuff I like.

Buy your discs guys.

The C-bomb thing has been such a overblown piece of news. Its no diffrent then something else breaking and it wont matter to a vast majority of gamers.
-
Thought it was about calling someone a Helen Hunt.
-
does the ps3 have a c bomb problem?
-
What is a c bomb
-
so... a non-issue issue?
-
I would imagine that someone could put together a dual battery kit, that enables one to switch a battery without cutting power with CMOS..
-
He should’ve installed the games AFTER taking the battery out. Having them installed and up to date is kinda cheating.
-
Even if it did, this routine maintenance isn't a relevant issue for 20 fucking years.
-
Does this matter? If there is a failed component in a console then the console doesn’t work in certain ways. Safe to assume. Why the focus on this one part? Am I lucky to not have had this issue? I’ve owned a ps4 from the first presale and it’s works fine today.
-
Phew.
-
Gifts that keep giving? Now we just wait for Sony to surprise us with some amazing stuff between now and June.

I claimed Astro’s Playroom from the store just in case I had a situation where I needed to re-download it, but I never deleted it from my PS5 at any point since launch day. Would it then run into the set date and time problem?
Edit: why the downvotes? Just want to know if I were ever in a situation where the CMOS was dead, would I require the internet to start Astro’s Playroom since I did claim it from the store
