Has anyone else noticed the dualsense battery life drastically reduced after the last firmware update? Mine use to last all day between gaming and watching TV (not on charge) now it lasts about 4 hours of mixed use.
-
I can't confirm 100% but mine seems to be draining faster
-
It seems like mine got better
-
I have 2 controllers I swap out and yeah they barely last a day,
-
honestly yes, i noticed it the last couple of days... i have 2 controllers and have been too lazy to update one of them, and the updated one genuinely does not last nearly as long as the un-updated one. both controllers are only lightly used
-
I thought I was the only one.
-
Mine hasn't changed, but make sure your controllers are actually fully charged. You can unplug them while they're charged after a while and they'll be a three bars, but not done charging yet (meaning that they're almost full, or like 75% full).
If your controller shows 3 bars, but you plug it in and it starts charging, it isn't truly full yet. It is only full when the charging symbol doesn't blink when it's plugged in.

Made a post about this yesterday. I get about 5-6 hours before dropping to the last bar on games that don't use rumble at all. Some people say it's a a visual glitch and not real. Did your controller actually die after 4 hours was did you just get a low battery warning?
-
its better than DS4 but still not good enough to where I don't want a 2nd controller on standby with full charge to not interrupt gaming sessions imo.
Thankfully I got an open box 2nd controller coming from Amazon for $45 from their warehouse, hopefully it is like new or sealed and mislabeled
and FINALLY got my hands on a Dualsense charging station to make this an easier task, from the PS store last week (which is surprisingly nice hefty build quality)
ID: gvux4zrThe cheapest I could find on Amazon is a "renewed" controller for $55
ID: gvuzlg4Check warehouse listing. 20% off shows up in cart
It did for me a few days ago
ID: gvvlcbeGet a 16' charging cable. No more interruptions.
-
Yes.
-
Definitely yes. I used to charge it every 3 days or so but now I have to charge it almost every day with the same amount of gaming. It is annoying.
-
Every controller update makes it worse, I reset mine. Idk what Sony is doing.
ID: gvv9djzHow do you reset it?
-
Nope, not at all. My Dualsense controllers last days between charges.
ID: gvv3zj2Even after updating the controller?
ID: gvv69ssYes.

I think my one controller actually broke. My battery will be at 3 bars, then when I turn off my controller and console, then come back a few hours later to play again, it's totally dead.
-
Omg yes
-
I noticed before the update before this most recent one, disabled sleep mode for my controller. I was wondering why my controller was always dead when I picked it up. Went into settings and the option to put my controller to sleep after ten minutes was disabled.
-
Holy shit you are right, i have been frustrated with the battery lately but never linked it to the update
-
Used mine for 8 hours straight just yesterday and still had a bar left.
-
I had to reset my controller because after the update, my controller ran out of charge overtime. I went to bed at night, turned off PS, next day went to work, and when I got home, the battery was completely drained. This took me like 2-3 days to realise it wasnt me doing something wrong.
I googled this and found people had this issue months ago too. After the reset, it has been working fine so far!
ID: gvvfr4hHow do you do the reset?
-
Yep mine too. Three hours or so from fully charged to empty. Wasn't like that before the update.
-
I haven’t noticed any difference but I did get the media remote so I don’t use my controllers to watch tv.
-
Yes. It is noticeable and frustrating.
-
I bought a 10ft USB-C charging cable and never have to worry about battery life.
I play wirelessly, but when I do need to charge the controller, I can still game comfortably while it charges
ID: gvvla1oGot a nice long USB cable from Ikea and I have it plugged into the surge protector right behind the couch. So no issue for me either. But I noticed earlier this week when I didn't have it plugged in it seemed to drain quickly.
ID: gvvmgtgWell duh of course, you been having the controller plugged for ever is no wonder the battery is fucked after being constantly charged nonstop.
-
As far as I can tell, yes the battery is draining faster since the update, but not exactly. It seems to be a visual bug where the system is reporting false battery percentages, I'm still using the controller hours past the low battery warning.
-
Yes, I thought I was going mad. Definitely getting less playtime after the update which is disappointing to be honest.
-
I was thinking it had to do with the intensity of the haptic feedback. Seems like it got bumped up especially in PS4 software.

I have the charging station and only play really on the weekends so it should be that
