- Someone sent me their broken PSP to cast in resin
-
I broke 3 of those. They were ahead of their time, but were too fragile.
ID: gxnkojwID: gxnmbflThe potential was there and just dropped by all console makers.
Switch has come close.
I just want 32bit 60fps gaming on a portable device that can also be used seperately as a BT controller for a main console.
Edit: Stop making cell phones. Sell me a Modular Gaming Device with phone capabilities
ID: gxo1xr7The days of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
ID: gxo5ytwWe got them when we were on a submarine, since we have no internet. We would stand lined up for chow and play monster hunter. good times.
also we had a 8 man starcraft ffa since it was lan compatible until I got us a cracked version of Starcraft II and had many 1v1 matches with a guy who was as good as me.
ID: gxnpgc9heh, back in middle school my mom was putting herself through school so we didnt have much money and anyway I ended up winning $100 from a poetry contest and my family chipped in and i was able to get a star wars renegade squadron edition PSP-2000, which i loved so much. then a few years later it was updating and i set it on my desk too hard and it bricked, never to boot again 🙁
ID: gxnq6bbWholesome until the last sentence
ID: gxo4zv5Mine still works and I took it to Iraq... twice!
ID: gxnplilhad a hard case with rubber padding for my 2000 series, still broke lol
ID: gxnq19kI had a 1000 and broke that real quick. Then a 2000 with a massive plastic shell. Still broke it. Then another 2000 and then that mofo bricked.
ID: gxnocjzFragile? I've dropped mine on the floor probably hundreds of times, and still works today...
ID: gxo4wolFragile? I dropped mine on asphalt two weeks ago, the battery cover came off and the battery cracked. I put it back in and turned it on, and it still works fine.
ID: gxo7nn6Hey, make sure you dispose of that battery if you haven't already. A cracked battery can be dangerous, and might lead to a fire or an explosion. It could also leak battery acid and really mess you up. Be safe and careful while getting rid rid of it. Don't touch your eyes and seek medical help asap if it leaks on you.
ID: gxnmxrfI thought you meant you broke 3 of them cast in resin for a second

Bricked PSP

How do you get your casts to be so clear? (no bubbles)
ID: gxnqxnwProbably with a vacuum chamber
ID: gxo7zd9heating the bubbles works too at least for some applications.
ID: gxo8uinLikely a pressure pot too. Depending on the resin cure time vacuum chambers aren't always super viable. And regardless a pressure chamber while curing ensures that any air bubbles that are present are kept as small as possible, usually to the point of being invisible.
-
Curious on how you get it to float. Do you do several layers and wait for it to cure? Suspend it from the top, pour resin half way, let it solidify, then do the top part?
ID: gxoaf9lThe YouTube videos I’ve seen they usually make resin tubes with straws to prop it up (removing the straw obviously), then when its cast its pretty much invisible because its the same material as the rest of the resin.
-
Cool idea!
ID: gxnl32zYeah it would be cool in a game room
-
One day, when scientist have found the cure to fix it, they will release the PSP from stasis
-
I repaired mine so often one cold make an explosion cast that looked like a whole one from the damaged parts XD
-
You're that guy on tik tok aren't you
ID: gxnlp4jYep cast all sorts of things
ID: gxnmjl0Did you cast the hot dog?
-
If that thing can resist some damage and deteriorating due time, it could be found in a post apocalyptic future and sold by approximately 500 bottle caps.
ID: gxo8u9gOnly 500? This shit is at least worth 5000! And that's low balling!
-
What would happen if you leave it out in the sun year round?
ID: gxnrypsIt wouldn't be able to play any games after a year in the sun.
...because it's embedded in resin.ID: gxnlqroNot much to be honest
ID: gxnw9j8Figured it would get hot and expand, especially the batteries.
-
what brand of Resin do you use?
-
Is this a legit way to preserve a piece of the tech, or does it break said tech forever by doing this?
ID: gxo8ujbIt’ll be preserved, but getting it out of the resin/the resin out of it would be nearly impossible
-
The products always look really great, but it would be really interesting to finally see how they are created.
ID: gxnlml8Will be posting this friday on my Youtube channel where we go through it!
ID: gxnm5luDo I have to know the channel, or do you voluntarily give us a link to the channel?
-
How'd you get it to 'float' without any visible supports?
ID: gxnxfc3Great question! Maybe casted half then half? Or a epoxy supports that are invisible when the rest is poured in.
-
So did you have to vibrate it a lot to get internal air bubbles out before it cured?
-
When the battery expands will being sealed in resin be a problem?
ID: gxnndurRemoved the battery on this one
ID: gxnnukjGood thinking, it looks cool. I actually just found an psp while emptying out an old house, cleaned it up, replaced the battery, purchased a couple games for cheap, and have been playing it for some months now.
-
Anyone ever play Kingdom of Paradise? Picked that game up in a swap meet in Mexico and ended up being one of my favorite childhood games
ID: gxnoxyuI've played it a lot of years ago, I don't remember much, I'm sure I haven't finished it, but I guess it was ok.
-
Had the Vader version modded to play PSone games. Time flys haha
-
It’s... it’s... just so beautiful
