That definitely sucks, but I think it might have still missed. You were zerod at 50 and aiming right at his head. Not sure maybe I'm getting it wrong, but I think that would have landed a bit low.

If you don't want to spend 53 minutes watching a video that honestly should have been ~10 minutes, here's the TLDW: If you're shooting at 80-140ish meters with any decent ammo in the regular barrel Mosin you want your zero at 50.
All guns are zeroed to one specific barrel and ammo combination, seemingly at random. When using meta barrels and ammo, your zero will always be wrong. For most guns, it's not wrong enough to really matter at most distances where you'll be engaging enemies - however, the Mosin is an outlier. OP is most likely using 7N1 @ 981m/s whereas the Mosin whereas the Mosin is zeroed for some barrel/ammo combination that is likely under 800 ish m/s, because even the 7N37 @ 880m/s shoots within a few minutes of angle at ~100m with the zero set to 50m.
The only reason I know any of this is because I kept missing easy shots and after watching my captures frame-by-frame, I am 90% sure it wasn't my aim. So I went into offline mode and discovered the rifle wasn't zeroed correctly at all. It was shooting several minutes of angle high at 100m with the zero set to 100m. I tried a few different optics before googling the problem and finding that video. Basically, I just leave everything on default zero now and manually compensate for drop with BDC marks on the scope. The Vudu is my scope of choice for this, but it's fucking expensive.

I recently spotted a guy up there, crept up and then accidentally dropped off the wooden ramp on the train right behind, so he heard me, voice lined to cease fire, so I did and we ran that raid together. Funnest time playing Tarkov and in over 2000 hours literally the only time that's happened.
ID: h11fxo2AFAIK, the game accurately models the sight height over bore, so a 50yd zero actually shoots high at 100yds, and re-zeros somewhere around 200yds.
ID: h11u46dThe problem (if you wanna call it that) is the in-game zeroing distance may not be calibrated to the ammo you are using. So you can zero something to "200m" but it may not be the "200m" for the ammo you are using.
ID: h127p8cI'm pretty sure that Tarkov sets your zero to the descending arc. If you zero very far and fire a tracer you'll be able to watch it arc up as it leaves the muzzle, cross your sight picture, and then descend at the target distance.
But if you run a very consistent kit you could probably figure out a setup that gives you a 50/200 near / far zero or something similar.

A good spot to chill at, until you whiff a shot on someone across the way, they'll find an angle to dome ya! Got my longest headshot from someone who sat up there (180m).
I have to say though, the gunfights at that distance are exhilarating if you're trying to pew pew back without any clue where your bullets are landing.

Never understood why people do SBIH with snipers. The ergo is trash and virtually no opportunity for follow up shots.

ID: h122b8gAs someone who recently finished Tarkov Shooter Pt 4, I will definitely be cheesing the rest of my sniper levels (once I'm done with Tarkov Shooter Pt 8). It's just so much faster. Bring a mosin and 40 rounds of lps gzh to factory. Sit in a corner and reload until red down arrow. Pick up the ammo and exit. You get more points this way in three minutes than you do in most whole non-cheese raids.
Also, sometimes when you've just finished cheesing you'll be able to third-party a fight and pick up everyone's stuff. Ideally while the winner thinks he's cleared the server and is looting the corpses. That's happened to me twice.
ID: h122t43Maybe, but there are easier ways to level sniper—just take a mosin and a stack of cheap ammo into a raid, reload until you run out, then IF the mosin somewhere that people can’t get it.
Also, when you find a mosin on a corpse, make a habit of grabbing it and their ammo, reloading through it, and ditching the gun.
That’s way more efficient than trying to do SBIH with a high MOA bolty.
If you are going to do SBIH with a bolty, at least use an SV98 with SNB.

Curious why you're doing SBIH and keeping your zero at 50. I suck at judging distance so I set mine to 100 so I knew if it went above people's heads they weren't going to count anyway.

ID: h11h5ofAh. That's good to know. I'm pretty sure I overcomplicated SBIH. Created range cards for the few places I would snipe from on each map and had the common areas it overlooked ranged out.

Try sniping from the building east of stronghold, I think its the factory, you use the factory exit key at the rear of it. It has an upper level and some large cylindrical containers, its the one that has a broken floor and dark underpass. Sit in windows in there sniping into stronghold.

ID: h11pqlvfastest sniper skill leveling. Mosin can be loaded round by round so you can just sit somewhere, load, unload, load, unload etc. Shoot some scav legs on your way to extract.
ID: h12314vYou get the same level bonus for swapping mags in a mag fed gun.
Bonus: You don’t lose ammo when you do.
