Do we know what the word on the street is for DDR5 in AMD chips? I can’t imagine AM5 launching without it, but ddr5 still seems like it’s coming in low volume. I’m not moving off b350 until then..
ID: h1yvmokKnow what I would have liked better than ddr5? quad channel ddr4, as it likely would be cheaper for several years, provide similar throughput, and improve flexibility. Imagine still having four memory slots, but each it's own channel. Want to improve throughput? You could use four lower cost smaller sticks that aren't on the bleeding edge.

I’d like to use the DDR4 sticks I have and have the option to move to DDR5 if it’s clearly better.

Rembrandt is a Zen 3+/RDNA2 APU and if this leak is true, would very likely be the first AMD product(s) to get DDR5 on the new AM5 platform.

Seems like a weird launch cadence.
Perhaps they plan to continue making Zen3/3+ for a while, particularly since it's a separate node. Could indicate they plan to put up prices again with Zen4, and/or only offer 8+ cores at the start.

Remember, AMD makes money on CPUs, not so much motherboards.

Which is something that Intel does, right? Intel never really supports a socket for more than 1 or 2 generations if I'm not mistaken.
ID: h1zgiseAMD will probably offer people both Zen 3(+) and Zen 4 Desktop. DDR5 and all isn't cheap. A Zen 3(+) in late 2022 could be very cheap to build around relatively cheap with a mid-range 5nm GPU and give you way better price and performance right now, especially if next-gen GPUs give you the rumored performance they could give you (better than 6900XT & 3090 performance).

I'm guessing, don't quote me on this, that they will skip a gen for each so the next processors will be the 7x00 series and the next GPUs will be the 8x00 series. I would imagine it would clear up some of the confusion.
