- Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2 trailer coming March 15th

There are also some cool things coming with the next update:
A new optional, close to crosshair minihud that will let your know your: nades, bloodpunch, mod, health, armor status. The devs says that once you try it you will not go back to original hud as it is "so much better and it is customizable" A new option for console (and may be pc) gamers to lower and customize the delay on the selection wheel to make weapon quick switch faster. The Bloodpunch bug is finally fixed so it will now register everytime. They are also still working on the Invasion mode, more Master Levels, ranked Battlemode and also more content later in 2021 that they refered as "some other modes that people want..."ID: gq5a1h0ID: gq5e8akThe blood punch bug being fixed brings a tear to my eye. I can't wait for this DLC. I can't wait for the new master levels too, right now we only have 3 master levels in total.

Praise the Doom Slayer! So many unnecessary deaths because Bloodpunch did not trigger. Though I still very much want the option of having Bloodpunch on its own key rather than having it crammed together with melee(glory kill)/interaction/activate. There is no way to completely avoid instances where you accidentally glory kill instead of Bloodpunch or vice-versa with the current setup.
ID: gq5kyldThat minihud sounds amazing! I’m really excited for that

ID: gq63najA new option for console (and may be pc) gamers to lower and customize the delay on the selection wheel to make weapon quick switch faster.
Hopefully it's on PC as well. I'd asked for it as an accesiblity option because I've got some nerve damage in my arm, and sometimes I let go of the button a little slow, and the weapon wheel flashes instead of switching to a different weapon. Being able to set it a little slower, or disable it altogether, would be great because I don't need the weapon wheel on PC.
ID: gq6lsu9Ranked battlemode? I'll say that it's cool they won't give up on their idea but I'd be interested to know how many people play battlemode.

Man, was one of my pet peeves with controller play, so glad they focus on the details. Don't see a reason why they wouldn't just 'port' this to the PC too.
ID: gq69ptyThey are also still working on the Invasion mode, more Master Levels, ranked Battlemode and also more content later in 2021 that they refered as "some other modes that people want...
No one wanted an invasion mode or battlemode. Everyone wants a traditional arena fps multi-player. They were able to bring us the classic single player FPS gameplay with Doom 2016 and Eternal but couldn't revitalize the multi-player aspect. Sad. Hopefully after Eternal, they remake Quake next and give us a proper arena FPS multi-player. They for damn well know that people who play Doom and Quake aren't those that expect it to compete with COD, Fortnite, Apex, Overwatch. They can easily give us arena fps fans that. They outsourced the mp in Doom 2016 and the lack of quality shows and with Eternal, they went with that whole Slayer vs Demon's nonsense.
Also yes I know Quake Champions exists but that's not a proper arena fps. I want something like Diabotical paired with their awesome single player FPS experiences done by iD themselves.

Soo, three marauders?
ID: gq58nycHow about 8 ?
ID: gq54wh7I think one possessed unstunable Marauder is far worse
ID: gq5krf2Marauders are ez once you use the right weapons. Everything is pretty easy once you learn the proper weapons. It's kinda like Zelda in that way.
ID: gq627edQuick swap super shotgun and railgun
ID: gq77nvyif the trailer doesn't have 3 marauders in it i'll be very disappointed

i still gotta beat dlc 1... and the base game, but im excited for this
ID: gq5l60gI was going to play the first DLC, but I decided to just wait until the second one game out. That way I can replay the base game and then play both DLCs
ID: gq4zozbWhat....?

I don't quite understand. Is this an announcement of when a trailer will be available?
ID: gq5uzzaYou do understand!
ID: gq6vgjiIt is an announcement for a teaser trailer for a trailer for a game.
-
Apparently they are bringing Chaingunners back with with extra shields too. I'm hyped!

Doom is fucking exhausting, and I Love it!
-
Oh Joy! An announcement of an announcement of something already announced!
-
I wish I'd had some warning of this announcement of the trailer.

It's gonna kick my ass isn't it

Looking forward for this!

Hopefully it doesn't just throw a shit ton of annoying enemies as once just to increase difficulty like the first DLC.
Edit: Downvote away since I didn't like the artificial difficulty. It's still a valid complaint.
ID: gq55y80I still fail to understand those people, lower difficulties exist for a reason
ID: gq7dry0The enemy count is just fine, I only had issues with the final stage of the final boss on nightmare, because I suck against spirits.
If you know how to use your weapons, deleting groups of enemies becomes a piece of cake. Make use of a few remote detonation rockets in the middle of your weapon combos for some nice CC, always spam your grenades and bring forth the mini gun with the shild to unlock godmode, if you're having issues surviving. You could also make use of the microwave beam for more CC, but that requires a lot of skill if you're using it in the middle of a combo.
Doom Eternal gives you enough tools to deal with all situations in the base game and dlc.
ID: gq5uwu8During one of the Bethesda streams Hugo admitted that they messed up the pacing and that part 2 wouldn't be kitchen sinking you in every arena.
Ideally we'd go back to the 2016 formula where in between fights you get a decent 5-10 minute break, whether that be platforming, secret hunting, or something else.
ID: gq5epfyDude stop. You're the reason devs make piss easy games to appeal to the masses. The difficulty progression felt completely natural and realistic and the amount of enemies they throw at you makes the game so much more exhilarating. What you expect them to put you against the same amount of enemies at the end of the game compared to the beginning? You are literally fully upgraded in the DLC.
ID: gq55v9eI was interested in the dlc but your comment made me research feedback and apparently the difficulty is stupid so that sucks
ID: gq5jnbmTurn the difficulty if its too hard. How the fuck are new enemy types that do things like buff the other enemies, or have unique attacks/ways to kill them artificial? Artificial difficulty would be nerfing the players strength, or making the enemies complete bullet sponges. Dont blame the game for you being bad or go back to animal crossing. Ffs.
ID: gq5dn08The difficulty felt like a very natural progression from the base game to me. They expect you to be efficient at taking out weak points and using combos to quickly kill heavy demons. Spawning more to keep the pressure on and keep pushing you to crank out the most DPS you can feels like a good way to increase difficulty and engagement. The base game did a great job of giving you tools and showing you how to use them and asking you to incorporate them into your combat rotation slowing building the arsenal and upping the skill ceiling. As much shit as the spirit gets I think its again a pretty natural progression of that philosophy, introducing a new enemy and showing you the tool you need to use in the rotation.

Maybe I am one is the few who didn’t like Doom Eternal. You can’t play how you want. You literally have to spam all the cool downs to constantly get armo
/ammo. If you don’t you die. I got so frustrated I just stopped playing it and have no desire to pick it back up.ID: gq6orq2Nope I didn't like it either but whenever anyone voices this opinion they're bombarded by the "git gud" squad. Because apparently anyone who doesn't like the game sucks at it
ID: gq6sgckSame. It's like a MMORPG where you have to follow a very specific rotation to do any good.
I was really surprised to see all the positive reviews :/
ID: gq8rehdSame here

As much as I loved Doom Eternal I really hated the jumping puzzles... it killed the flow of the game for me. I hope part 2 doesn't have near as many of them.
ID: gq6g3ayThey doubled down on them in the first expansion so I wouldn't get your hopes up.
ID: gq7cyqjI think they're fine. Its allows you to relax after an intense fight, especially when playing on nightmare or higher.

I played the original on PS4 when it came out last year and was pretty lukewarm on it. It just felt too busy, like there were 2-3 too many mechanics to juggle. I decided to give it another go recently, this time in my new 3080 PC and I have to say, I am having a much better time with it. The game worked well on PS4, but with a keyboard and mouse running at 144Hz it is just so smooth. I also spec’d my build to give maximum ammo, then health which has made juggling all the mechanics less of an issue.
Anyway, good timing on the additional DLC because I should be beating this again soon and am ready for more content!
-
If a teaser is on the 15th, wouldn’t they have to launch still before the 20th to meet the 1 year deadline of providing dlc 1 and 2 to deluxe edition owners?
ID: gq5x9jrYea, but that deadline was set before the pandemic. A few weeks of delay are to be expected (and I'm perfectly fine with it).
-
How was the first DLC? I absolutely loved the base game but I haven't gotten to the DLC yet.
ID: gq68os6It's good, but the difficulty continues to ramp up even higher than the base game, so it can get frustrating if you haven't played in a while and don't lower the difficulty. There's also almost no breaks in the levels either; it's basically arena after arena, and some can take 10-15 minutes to finish. No joke, it can get exhausting playing through a level because it's almost non-stop arenas that are more difficult than anything in the main campaign. As long as you go into it expecting it to be harder, and lower the difficulty accordingly, it's a blast.
-
Whoa, slow it down. I needed a rumour about an announcement of this announcement of a trailer for a game's DLC. And also an earnings report from the publisher while you're at it.
-
Really hope the game goes on sale there

like half these comments here could be solved with a simple
"git gud skrub"

While this is cool... Release date for a trailer is just lame aF.

close to crosshair minihud
This is good!
When I was raiding in WoW I ended up moving a lot of the UI to near the center of the screen. Doom was one game where I wished I could do that!
