- We don’t talk enough about Resident Evil: Outbreak on this sub.
-
Outbreak 1 and 2 are are still my fav re games next to re4
ID: h3d8iewID: h3d8nc5I have. Ive played every resident evil made. Re2 remake was very good yes. Re3 not so much tbh

A remake/ sequel with current technology would be sick. Played them offline on PS2 all those years ago and still could see their huge potential.
Plus it shows crazy feats the T virus can achieve, like making an elephant jump, despite being unable to do it irl.
ID: h3czrspI honestly think it’s the most underrated RE game, it’s not even considered by most people when talking about the “best” games.
ID: h3d0bm5The cooperation factor (even with the AI), that each character was effectively their own class with different skills, being able to band up or scatter to get keys and such, melee and firearms, being able to open regular doors without keys yet risking being surrounded by enemies if dallying too much. Certainly way ahead of its time. It came out 6 years before Left 4 Dead and so many ideas were already there.

Loved it, and it should get a remake
-
I’m dying for them to remake this 4 player co-op
-
A remake of this with online multiplayer would have been a million times better than fuckin Re:Verse or what ever their other online service is
-
Ahead of it's time... What a shame.
-
Why won’t they remake this??!
-
the game is overall good but the ai and aiming is bad sometimes imo. its a shame that so many scenarios were cut from the game
-
Bruh every time a remake is suggested it’s flooded with “Remake Outbreak” tbh it’s one of the hardest resident evil games I’ve played solo I might’ve just been shit cause I was young but it was hard as hell. Both games.
-
Played it back in the day and remember eagerly awaiting File 2, both games were really ahead of their time.
-
What could have been if this game came out a decade later than it did
-
The only reason I never got the full experience is because I SUCKED at this game. I never even knew it was online co-op (even though I had no internet at the time) until way later and I couldn't play it online for my PS2 anyway.
I never even passed it lol. I beat almost all scenarios except the last one. It was really hard for teenage me BUT I still enjoyed it. It was definitely challenging. I remember beating scenario 1 and 2 after dozens of tries and was so excited. The AI was pretty damn annoying. I ended up doing everything alone.

I must admit, aside from outbreak, I'm very fond of Resident Evil: Survivor.
It could do with a RE7/8 remakeID: h3dnpqcVincent?! It's me, your mother.

I literally want to get into PC gaming just so I can play this on the fan made servers
-
Obligatory PSA that this game is still active on private servers and is fucking awesome if you can get some friends to hop on discord and play together.
Managing to beat File #1 on Very Hard and File #2 on Hard (Wild Things is nearly impossible on VH lol) difficulties with my buddies was easily one of the best and most rewarding online multiplayer experiences I've had.
Both are top notch old school survival horror experiences when you don't have to deal with AI companions.
We still never managed to kill Nyx :(. Arguably the most difficult final boss capping off one of the most outrageous scenarios haha.

This is the greatest game of all time

The forgotten Resident Evil games

I love this game, I think most fans of RE love it too. It was L4D before L4D. Just regular civilians trying to survive a nightmare scenario. I had hopes REsistence was gonna play like this, but it was halfway there. Now we need a full version, with the Virus meter and everything, more options to make you think more creatively (George and David winks) had the best RPD officer (Kevin Ryman) and possible the saddest bromance break up (Bob and Mark) I actually never finished File 2, but I'm currently fixing that. 100% top 3 easy. What would also be cool is if they implement a mic function that you can only hear your teammates in a certain range. Discord might ruin it, but it would be one hell of an experience

I need to redownload my ps2 emulator so I can start playing these again.

So, this was a multiplayer RE without online? How did that work o.0
ID: h3d9uheIt was 100% online. But it also had an offline mode with AI.
The first game had bad loading times and no voice chat so the reviews were brutal. The sequel was amazingggg, and improved on a lot of things, such as being the first RE game where you could walk and shoot.
There was a downed state where you crawl and call for help. Melee weapons were breakable. And there were random events and traps in the level. Not to mention the fact that your partners can fail and become zombies themselves (I have fond memories where zombified partners would fruitlessly target the boss instead of the other players). There were also context sensitive voice taunts and musings from the cast of unique characters, and I actually preferred it over voice chat for the immersion. You could hear footsteps and sounds in nearby rooms, which was pretty modern at the time.
A perfect mix of horror and hilarity (as online games go).
The director of the game was the same guy who directed RE6.
I loved it.
ID: h3d6b38Well it actually got online mode but was only available in japan i think back at ps2 time (also i think an hdd was needed not sure about that) nowdays its still possible to play with others online. I was playing with my friends a few months ago
ID: h3d1a9b3 AI partners moved around the stage with you. I think you could give them commands to be close to you and swap items: important with Cindy and George as you could give them healing items and they could mix herbs or create retrovirals to help you heal or fend off the infection rate (yes, you could get a You Died screen if your infection rate got to 100%, which worked as a time limit per stage but also made it more realistic than any game of the main series.)

They need to do a remake.
The amount action and comedy by playing with friends or strangers? The idea pays for itself!
Survival Horror is possible with Co-Op I
-
What Resistance should have been.
-
Finally aquired outbreak file 2 for ps2. God the memories.
-
I watched my cousin play both when I was young and have wanted to play them but can’t find them anywhere on pc.
-
They really were ahead of their time. If they either came out later when online gaming matured or released File 3 when Xb360/PS3 were out, they’d be a lot more popular. A game like Outbreak with modern online (and good dlc) would be an amazing experience!

Play RE2 Remake if you haven't. It incorporates several design elements from Outbreak, and it's an outstanding game.
