How do we clear a jam? Tap, rack, bang?
ID: h3khlhoID: h3l13rgThank you for that, was wondering the same thing
ID: h3m02vsI use a knife and scrape it on my toast

Ive had one too, and reloading my weapon seemed to work, but i also got the prompt to press alt+t i believe. Probably the bind to check your chamber?

So many broken desks and keyboards in the future lol

Most jams irl are due to ammunition not weapon condition. Emphasis on most obviously, I've seen a water logged rusty glock fire off 1000 clean rounds, I've also seen $2000 AR's hang up on quality ammunition. It'll be fun to see how realistic bsg makes this mechanic.
ID: h3krphiKimbers lol
ID: h3l6nofMost stoppages in my experience come from shitty mags and handloads. I almost never have problems running factory ammo through good mags
ID: h3l8rudAgreed, it would be interesting for bsg to implement a magazine quality scale, or even a reloading bench in hideout where you can choose to make higher quality etc ammo. (Don't crucify me this is my first wipe and I haven't unlocked very much in the hideout)
ID: h3leotsYeah, out of all my guns I have a 22 that might fail to cycle some types of ammo, but the rest are all magazines that don't ramp the next round properly
ID: h3kvcfsHonestly, I hope guns also can vary in reliability.
Things like AK's, Glocks and Bolt actions would really get a buff from it.
It would be funny to have AK's that can just empty mags without problems.
ID: h3kvtruI was thinking the same thing, would love to see more revolvers, coach guns etc. Based on their ease of use and relatively high reliability.
ID: h3kw78eHonestly, I hope guns also can vary in reliability.
Honestly, I bet it already does. It's actually why I was tempted to do BEAR this wipe.
ID: h3lkporModern M4s and ARs are just as reliable as AKs unless you are in extreme weather conditions.
ID: h3l1crtI know it's just a figure of speech, but that sounds like the opposite of fun.
ID: h3lt7ydBut the game isn’t supposed to be fun kappa

If there isn't a way to alleviate the RNG element in this, it is going to be very frustrating
ID: h3kjgo0There's a skill called malfunction so I'm assuming as you level up this happens less. Which is fucking dumb.
ID: h3krnphAgreed. It should be based on the durability of the gun.
Maybe add a cleaning mechanic to the game where the game is on the workbench for 2 hours per long gun and 1 hour per handgun.
Gets dirtier depending on the ammo shot and how much was shot.
Edit: I have a thread going on this if anyone wants to discuss it

A life ending RNG mechanic that happens more to new players? Sounds very welcoming
My guess is that the malfunction skill will make clearing jams faster. I don't know why on earth you assumed what you did.
Tarkov turning into WoW.
And people down voted me when I said it's a dumb feature that nobody will want.
I'm all for a low durability and used gun to jam later on. Happening to a gun this early is fucking stupid. BSG loves to say "it's hardcore!" but realistically it's just an annoyance that make people close the game. Imagine this happening to a newer player or a friend you're getting into the game. Fuck that.
The basic idea is good, but it can't be RNG, which it obviously is.
If there is a "0% chance of jam if weapon is at 100% while firing the first 90 bullets", then you can set your play to that.
But if it's "there is a 1% chance your weapon will jam at the first bullet", you are going to get into situations where you lose a fight while doing nothing wrong without any chance to have prevented it - and that is stupid game design.
probably just have to keep your weapon repaired
We are all used to the meta of correctly timed rushing corners and chokepoints with full-auto pre-fire at anticipated enemy positions (which also keeps network latency in your favor).
A badly timed malfunction like this now makes that a bit of a gamble since it leaves you totally vulnerable. All the clips I've seen so far of jams getting people killed are exactly this situation. It's clearly frustrating RNG given that pattern.
But maybe before taking up torches and pitchforks over the feature a few hours in, maybe change up tactics and prioritize positioning so that you aren't left completely exposed if it does happen.
I'm all for trying to change the prefire-everything meta, but I think this is kind of bullshit. A brand-new gun, jamming on the first 3 bullets? That's a dogshit mechanic, full-stop. I have been a huge fan of making guns jam more often in Tarkov, since it was basically non-existent in Tarkov before, since it took the gun durability until like 30% to actually jam. I would be more than okay with guns that have lower durability (like 85% or even 90% and lower) start to jam. But a brand new gun? That's ridiculous.
I get what you’re saying but in maps like Labs and Factory it seems like it’ll be a nightmare. I wonder if scavs and AI jam their guns too?
On a brand new gun?
Yeah fuck that
"Man watches space jam for the first time"
So dumb. If it's a weapon that has low durability I can understand but a new weapon? Sooo stupid.
I guess the more worn out it is, the more jams you will have, but you can still have them with a fresh gun
Ah just like a real Desert Tech.
I know older MDRs would jam up every 5 round or so. I hope they made drum mags more realistic so you'll have more ammo but are really prone to having jams
Dear lord, god help us.
dunno i dumped 4 mags from an ak in offline one after the other no jam, so dunno, but it needs to be less rng
That's because Izmasch AKs are far more reliable than DT DMRs
I've been using the MDR almost all my raids so far, could possibly have shot about 700-1000 rounds of m855 full auto and haven't had a single jam. So I dunno, it's hard to gauge
Maybe this will discourage players from unrealistically face charging people
Im hoping this as well. If you jam when charging youre beat; jamming behind cover still sucks, but is a minimal issue.
Hopefully a counter to the spring up/mag dump meta. It'd be interesting if the fact he was so close spraying is what triggered it
I think it just has to do with going full auto maybe and bad luck? I'm assuming people who single shot won't have as many jams. Hope I'm right at least
"but realism" no. the best part about this game is getting into firefights. this directly hinders that.
My main concern as I'm running around with my pistol, how TF do you have an mdr on your first game?
u get one on eod
You pay $100 lol
lol
