But since I already have ghost of tsushima. And its my favorite game on the ps5. I will probably buy an upgrade on release. Kinda sucks because 30euro is what I paid for the full game lol. And I wish it was 15/20 on both platforms. But I like this gwmr too much to wait

I just don’t want other companies following suit. If this sells out then it sends a message to Activision, EA, 2K, Nintendo, Altus, Square Enix, and the list goes on and one day will hit PC in this form…

You all misunderstood what Director's Cut means here. It means the Director wants his cut of the money pie and he's getting it.

I'm glad this is getting traction. And yet, people will eat this up and make it commonplace.
It's ridiculous. Imagine asking PC players to pay for sliding a bar from Medium to High graphics for their newly bought GPU.CPU. And GoT's graphical upgrade isn't even that substantial. It's haptics and lipsync that make the majority of this upgrade,
And yet it doesn't stop fanboys from yelling "entitlement". You do realize people supported the studio with a $60 game at launch? Then went out and bought a $500 console, owned by the same company that sells this upgrade.
So now, day one supporters have to pay $90 in total for the upgrade, while the late adopters pay just $70. The people who supported the company from the start are getting shafted. How is that entitlement?
Unfortunately, this will keep on coming. Death Stranding will have the same upgrade path because fanboys will eat anything up.
Meanwhile, 3rd party developers are giving this away for free.
ID: h40gvvxI think you hit the part that annoys me about this. This is a first party studio - if there is anyone who should be doing this for free it's them. This should be a fantastic opportunity to show the power of the PS5, to show the value in the playstation ecosystem we've invested in and to show us that we can still purchase PS4 games for the PS5 without concerns like this. Instead we're now faced with either paying more money or having an inferior version of the game on the PS5.

I have a feeling Death Stranding will lock their PS5 upgrades behind their ‘Director’s Cut’ as well.
I can’t believe I’m about to say this but Square-Enix really did give their customers a great deal by offering the upgrades for free and charging for their PS5 exclusive DLC to entice resale thus recouping some costs back.

Felt like they’re suddenly working backwards here. I get paying for DLC, but for some of these upgrades for PS5 owners, it’s just ridiculous. Glad we got the 60 FPS boost free for owners of the base game but I’m seriously not digging the way PS4 to PS5 transitions are taking place.

Problem is people with PS5 are absolutely hungry for PS5 games with PS5 features like 4K, 60fps, haptics, adaptive triggers and 3D audio. There is just not enough games like this so people will buy everything. Demand is just too high and these companies know it and they will gladly take this oportunity to milk gamers for their money.

I already bought, played, and beat the game. Would it be nice to replay it with PS5 features? Sure. Would I be willing to spend money to do that? Absolutely not.

I have a feeling it's going to become commonplace now to release a game then a few months to a year later release a director's cut to nickel and dime us to death.

ID: h418c3uIt's safe to assume every late-stage PS4 exclusive release published by Sony will have a similar 'Director's Cut' package - at a similar $30 markup fee. Especially if they have new DLC they can toss in the package. TLOU2 will probably try this when they launch the new Factions content. Bloodborne would probably also go the Director's Cut path, but I doubt they'd develop new content to justify the upgrade. The fact it's just running at a smooth 60 will probably be seen as enough of an incentive.
I imagine Horizon: Zero Dawn will be more of a Spider-Man situation, where the PS5 upgrade is tied to a $90-$100 special edition of Forbidden West. God of War might also end up in this trap.

Gaming has been becoming an outrageous rip-off lately, and the last vestige of integrity/good value has generally been first party stuff...that is clearly eroding with this extortionate "next gen upgrade" nonsense. Not buying this on principle.

Maybe if Metro Exodus was an exclusive they might have charged. Instead we got a free PS5 version. Haptics, 3D Audio, Ray Tracing, 60fps. I already finished GoT. I don't care much for DLCs so I am done with the game, anyway. It was really good.

ID: h4049d4If you own a disc or digital last gen version of Jedi Fallen Order you get a free digital PS5 or Xbox Series version of the game for free. You can even contact EA support if you owned the game on disc and have a newer console lacking a disc drive. I believe every cross gen game should follow suit.
Granted, Tsushima has more content coming in the form of a new island and missions which I would’ve purchased regardless because I love this game. But I think there should be a choice to have a free PS5 upgrade for the base game and maybe $19.99 for the directors cut expansion depending on the amount of content added.

I don't like the way Sony is going this generation. They make great games but everything is so expensive. It didn't feel nice forking out £70 for rift apart even though I'm really enjoying it so far. I don't think I can justify upgrading my ghosts of tshishima. I'm still hoping Sony suprise us with a gamepass clone and all their exclusives launch on it on release day.

I think the biggest insult is to people who have both PS4 and PS5 consoles. Are they just to play the PS4 version on both consoles? I’m sure Sony would rather we buy upgrades for each, but now cloud saves won’t work (since they are two different games).
Really makes it seem like MS was on to something with “Smart Delivery”.

Turns out, nope. Sony's plan was just "eh fuck it, let the developers do whatever they feel like". It's by far been the worst part of the PS5. Even when someone isn't trying to gouge me for the same game with the settings bumped up, it's just downright confusing to upgrade to the PS5 copy and convert the save (if you even can).

PlayStation has been extra bullshit with these ps5 upgrades, I don't understand why people are defending this. "It's only 10$" if it's only 10$, then why is it so much to ask for the billionaire dollar corporation such as Sony to be able to waive that fee for early ps5 adopters? The competition is able to do that. Even EA is doing that. They're still going to make BANK selling this new version of the game without this 10$ upgrade bullshit.

I can totally understand leaving the new island/story expansion behind a paywall, but so many other comapnies/games have given PS5 upgrades for free this seems like a real shitty thing to do! Not to mention basic QOL stuff like Japanese lip syncing never should have been an issue in the first place!

Sony is back to their anti consumer PS3 days.
Them and Xbox trade places almost every generation, whoever has the worst selling generation will be more pro consumer the next one, and whoever is on top will be more anti consumer and it's no wonder why when you see how many cringe fanboys defend both companies anti consumer practices
