Yes it was posted recently...that said, IIRC, someone on the other post said the reason you have to run the maze is because the ball is interacting with parts you cant really see.
I had to watch a video, even though the paths appear to be as easy as the one in the comic, the puzzles are like, full on miniatures of stuff like a castle or a haunter house on a hill, complete with moving parts.

I like to imagine that the puzzle itself tracks that the ball has moved through the obstacles successfully. This way, people cannot get the treasure this easily.
