- Hey! I would like some help choosing a laptop config between these two. I will be using the laptop for photo editing and light 1080p video editing. 8gb+4700u or 16gb+4500u
-
definitely 16gb, 8gb is a joke nowaday.

8gb ram definitely isn't enough for video editing. I wouldn't go with 8gb unless there's an extra RAM slot.
ID: h4cl2v2Yeah, unfortunately it's soldered on.
ID: h4clho6It's gonna be the bottleneck for your use case no matter what GPU and CPU so I would suggest finding a better balance than these two options.
ID: h4cxm19Intrgrated GPU has 2 Gigabyte of Ram reserved so you have 6 Gigabyte effectivly
ID: h4czlzaAnd windows takes about 2gb, doesn't it
ID: h4dix22that isnt true, that only happened with picasso and older amd apus, renior and newer only reserve 512mb. Source i have a renior laptop and a picasso laptop.

the diff between the cpus, at least in this 14inch chassis is small. so take the 16gb version.
-
Yep 16gb is better considering your use case.

I think 16 gb of ram will play out better with photo video. Other techs will not give you any sensible difference.

Pass. They seem to have non upgradeable RAM, so you're stuck with the single channel soldered kit. Find something that has a slot for a second ram stick or even better actually has dual channel.
ID: h4d0tpnIt is actually dual channel, not that bad or is it?
ID: h4dbh6oThe two models you're comparing both have LPDDR4x, which is the fastest RAM available for Ryzen mobile, and although they'll be reported as dual channel they're technically quad channel I believe. The other person doesn't know what they're talking about.
