AMD Radeon RX 6600 non-XT not to launch sooner than September

Coreteks has a mixed record, so take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Remember that this is a RUMOR.

Again, this is a RUMOR.

Nah, it's perfectly in line with AMD words about making more expensive parts first basically.

ID: h60l9d8

That's the tech market as a whole, lol

how typical. god forbid they make more smaller chips so more people can buy a gpu. we cant be having that

ID: h5zqvyd

The chip for both models is the same, only cut down a bit. Cutting down may be due to defects, or just for product segmentation. But cutting just for segmentation does not make much sense these days, because all good chips can sell out instantly anyway, earning more. That is why there is a delay- to accumulate enough chips with defects to have some stock at launch.

That ain't gonna happen until either manufacturing capacity increases or demand decreases. It makes sense for AMD to make high end chips since they make more money on it, it's not like AMD (or any other company) wants to abandon lower-end market where they could make more money.

If they can make more money they will, you (and me) as a customer are means to an end and nothing more.

So they will focus on making money + people have short memory on being shafted in any shape or form. Next round when new shiny thing comes out all is forgiven (or at least ignored)

ID: h5zwrm5

You falsely make it seem as if AMD is artificially limiting supply.

AMD would certainly sell enough GPUs to meet demand if it could.

It's called business. Nvidia do it, and so does Intel. They release their expensive flagship first as they make more money on it. And people who want a lower end model have to wait.... This is where they "get' those people waiting to give into temptation and they end up buying a more expensive product than they otherwise would have. Plus releasing a more expensive product is good for their stock prices as this shows their shareholders they are confident in their tech, hardware and brand.

imho launching an 6500XT in volumes priced 220$ would be a greater move than this

ID: h5zwa2i

Navi 24 is launching at the end of the year.

Anyhow, AMD doesn’t have control over volume because TSMC is supply constraint.

Your defending amd(a corporation) a lot bro What’s going on?

ID: h61qhmb

Navi 24 is launching at the end of the year.

Forgot all about this one!

I really don't get this. AMD is actually competitive for the first time in a long time but are completely unavailable.

Feels like they're wasting this opportunity.

ID: h605r1j

It’s beyond AMD’s control.

If AMD could provide more GPUs, it would have.

ID: h607b84

They're prioritising higher end products for wider profit margins (which is perfectly understandable). However I feel like this is a bit short sighted.

Snip snap, snip snap
