- [LTT] An Uncontroversial Opinion – AMD RX 6600 XT Announcement

Pretty good explanation. Tldr: market is fucked, and there isn't much that anyone can do anything about it

I suppose Linus has kinda realized that his "defend the companies cause they're having a bad time" take doesn't really fly. Weather a company is justified or not in their strategies hold no bearing on weather or not those strategies are good for consumers. He seems to miss that point.
ID: h72w6c5ID: h732zxzHe doesn't need to explain nvidias reasoning because it's entirely irrelevant to the consumer, that's part of the point I'm trying to make. I don't think they're a bad company, but I'm not judging the whole company, I'm judging the product and their prices. Linus seems to be not addressing those and just instead giving excuses for nvidia, which don't matter.
ID: h72oddzThing is, these high MSRPs by AMD are good for consumers. They do not affect the street price that consumers would have to pay, but earns more for AMD, allowing them to spend more on R&D, and, in the long run, to grow into a more powerful and resilient competitor against bigger Intel and nVidia.
ID: h72ps0bwhat???
That's just about the most round-about fanboy way to defend a companies actions I've ever heard. Higher MSRP's are just bad for the consumer. AMD isn't going to make millions off this to pump into R&D in the future to make your life better. They'll keep their msrp's high and pocket the money. They're already a company worth over 125 billion, there's really no world where them arbitrarily raising their prices will be good for you.

I don't think he misses that point. He has said it multiple times both on wan show and the Nvidia reviews. He's just explaining the reasoning of Nvidia, but the reality is that the people just want a video where he says "nvidia bad"
