Everything went downhill after BO2 and MW3
ID: h7hgvqiID: h7hnuahTime to stop.
ID: h7hkn9lbig agree
ID: h7hn47wThe numbers mason!! The numbers!!!
ID: h7hmga3Think this is one of those things that mostly depends when you started playing.
For me the series went downhill after COD4. When I played COD4 I can remember people telling me that the series really went downhill after COD2. For several of my friends (who didn't get into COD until later) the series went downhill after MW2.
It's the same for most formulaic series. People enjoy the first few games the most and then it gets old. I can recognise that later pokemon games make a lot of improvements objectively speaking, but my favourites are still the first ones I played.
New people come along and enjoy the new games.
The funny thing is that it is easy for me to come up with rationalisations for why COD4 is truly the best... but probably it was just as bullshit-filled as the others. (Certainly I raged at martyrdom, last stand, and 1HKO snipers often enough).
The only significant thing that I think has become an objectively bigger problem in mainstream games over the past decade is the micro-transaction business model.
ID: h7ho7arI played from the PC original onwards, I felt it got better up to black ops 2, ghost was meh, and then straight down hill.
ID: h7hp1leThis is the best answer.
ID: h7hmswqI would say BO1 actually
ID: h7hoqbnI'd say cod4mw was the peak. Mw2 was the beginning of the end and nobody wants to admit it because they had a blast with how broken it was. (It was fun, can't lie).

Ngl I stopped playing after MW3 because it just became an online play focused game and I'm not into that
ID: h7heykkLucky man. I wish I would’ve stopped playing then, I would’ve been able to spend a lot of time on Halo. But now that I know I’m done with Call Of Duty, I’m finally starting the series. I’m really enjoying the first one. Im excited to play and beat al of them.
ID: h7hf4uyIf you're interested in fps story based games the borderlands series is fun
ID: h7hlvqpHighly recommend the Metro 2033 series, great campaign and world building.
ID: h7hinuaThe story on the new modern warfare is incredible, if you haven't played it.
ID: h7hiwaeThere's a new Modern warfare after 3?
ID: h7hnmubI can't really agree on that there were some cool moments though and missions. But the story was largely Russia bad and there are some terrorists and something to do with chemical weapons. I didn't care for it mostly.

I wish everyone in this thread a happy Fuck Activision

The solution is very simple: Stop buying CoD games and they will stop making them. War was never meant to be a damn sports game with yearly releases and map DLCs.

Why do people enjoy COD?
No progression, no ranked mode, no real purpose to get better, it's just spam-running and shooting with zero recoil/skill involved.
Maybe I am just dense but i truly don't get the appeal of the game? Just seems very mindless?
Seems like its designed for children and people with short attention span yet all these grown men love it.
ID: h7hih4tYou explained it perfectly. It’s mindless running and gunning
ID: h7hjq3fSeems like its designed for children and people with short attention span yet all these grown men love it.
Kind of uncalled for.
Some people don't have a lot of time and/ or just want some mindless, simple fun. There's nothing wrong with that.
ID: h7hjoq0Idk how you managed to answer your question while asking it. But yea I prefer my online games to not be ranked. All ranked does is raise my blood pressure for nothing. Not to mention the hours of dedication that goes into it, and shitty matchmaking.
It's why I don't play overwatch or siege anymore
ID: h7hk115Interesting, im the exact opposite.
I dont play non-ranked games because there is no progression or reason to get better.
If i dont have a reason to win, i dont see the point in playing the game.
The pressure in ranked is the same reason I like Rust/Tarkov.
If there is no adrenline, i might as well watch a movie instead of game.
ID: h7hiskxIt is. I just played it because it was something all my friends played, then I got addicted over the years and now I realize that it is everything you said. I wish I would’ve pickup Halo sooner, but I’m doing it now lol. Starting from the first to the most recent.
ID: h7hljfaPersonally, I enjoy it because my stepdad, and I can play it together after we both get home from work. I haven't lived with my parents in over 10 years, and that was a huge bonding experience for us back then.
ID: h7hn2cfYounger me would agree with you. Younger me would could play 8+ hours straight, stay up to 3AM every night and sleep in. Younger me also had tons of friends that could do the same.
Older me barely has time to play. I could easily go weeks without playing, so I don't care about online progression and I don't have time to get good to play ranked. So yes, I absolutely love just mindless fun
ID: h7hnegbWhat about fast paced games like Titanfall 2, Apex Legends, Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch? COD tried advanced movement like three times (BO3, AW and IW) and players still remembered Titanfall 2 and Halo more.
There's also Splitgate, a combination of Halo and Portal, it looks fun but I haven't even get into the game for it's long load since I installed it.
Whatever games as long as it's not CSGO, where you get onetapped when one pixel of your character model lean outside of a corner. Valorant tries to be different by giving their agents some abilities but the game pretty much plays the same.
-
It's Call of Duty, they're all equally 6/10.
-
Eh I only played like one COD game ever, I could play 2 more COD games
-
This is me with comic book movies. ESP marvel.
-
So true. Re packaged every year for 20 years
-
But United Offensive was so awesome
-
Any moron who buys this game every year is just as bad as the morons that buy fifa every year. Same game every year people. Come on.
-
Bad company 2 killed cod for me
ID: h7hn6lrI wish cod would’ve been killed for me a long time ago. I wasted so much fucking time into those games, especially MW 2019. I have well over a thousand hours. Im glad I’m giving it up now though.
ID: h7hne3yPretty much not being able to destroy buildings was such a buzzkill lol, then I got into MOBAs. And now I’m just playing rogue lites and card games lol
-
Maybe try other games to avoid the burnout feeling? It really is all in your head I play cod since BO1 and now im broke and play CoDM Such is life
ID: h7hnkzbYeah I am. Cod made me depressed and stressed on how much time I’ve wasted on there, it’s R6S all over again. But I’m playing Halo like I said and I’m proud to say I’m a new Halo fan. I wish I would’ve gotten into Halo way sooner, 16 years old feels late as fuck. I wish I would’ve started when I was like 6 or something, I for sure know it would’ve made my childhood better.

It really bums me out that regardless of how well the game is performing, support is dropped because you need to buy the next new shiny game. Sure you can still enjoy the now old game but so many just move on because of FOMO and the player base dries up.

This is factual.
